They use MMA, which is illegal and destroys your natural nails! I can go into more detail about the lack of quality for a set that cost me almost $200, but this alone was my reason to never return. My appointment was with Jason. I texted him after i soaked off my nails (with pics) to let him know I was upset that he used MMA. He called me back later that day and offered to fix my nails. I declined, asking why I would go back to a place that uses MMA? He told me he would use the good monomer this time. I asked him why he charged me $150 plus tip for a set of nails and used MMA if they have the right monomer in the first place, and why they use MMA at all knowing that is ILLEGAL? He didn't really have an answer for that. I just cut my losses and never went back. Please educate yourself on why MMA should not be used on nails, and find a safer salon. read more

Two stars because usually my nails look nice. I have been a customer for many years, but honestly, I always cringe at the filth of this salon. I have seen cockroaches, food and beverages, and just general filth everywhere. I have looked past it because they are inexpensive and typically my nails look really nice. However... I have become increasingly grossed out and this last visit will have been my final visit. I came on the Tuesday after memorial day very early in the morning. I called and was told I could come on in. When I arrived at salon I believe there was only one other customer and the nail person was finishing with someone else. That person paid and left, and the nail technician waved me over to her desk, which was the one right behind the sink. I sat down and she motioned for me to put my hands on the towel. I was incredibly grossed out because there were nail clippings and skin clippings and all sorts of filth everywhere. Not only on the towel, but all over the nail desk as though nothing had been cleaned since their last business day. I asked her if I could have a fresh towel which honestly should be a given and she was openly irritated by my request. Her expression said it all, but she got me a clean towel. The rest of my manicure (fill) what is essentially spent in silence with me hoping appointment would be quick. Sadly, it was also the worst looking nails I've ever had. I would have been "ok" if he reached out and let me know he had something going on but I received no response, check in or an opportunity to reschedule. The service was rude to me, laughing when I asked for shorter nails and saying that they were "too short". They wouldn't file my nails either even though they were so sharp! Horrible experience all together. 1. 30 mins late to start my appt.. what's the point of booking an appointment? 2. I asked for almond shape and was left with over filed nails that exposed my nails under the nail tips. Also the nail tech used an obviously NOT sanitized file to not only over file my nails but cut every other cuticle. I showed the nail tech all my exposed nails then she used more acrylic powder directly on one of the fingers with a cut. OUCH. I had to hold myself for crying. Now I have to use hydrogen peroxide every night to help the pain and swelling. Hopefully my cuticle doesn't get infected. 3. Lastly she didn't paint the gel polish allllll the way to my cuticle. So now my nails look a week hold when it's only been a few days. This full set was NOT worth $50. I would never go here again for recommend anyone. Beware, they also didn't sanitize anything while I was there and used not freshly sanitized nail tools. read more

This place was highly recommended. My original guy moved out of the country so I wanted to try someone else. A guy who is not Jason helped me. The first pic is what I wanted but with a pink color. The guy that helped me did not listen to me. He suggested a pink powder which I said no too and he did it any way. I told him that my left middle finger nail was too short he said he would fix it and didn't. I told him he was leaving too much space between my cuticle and nail and he didn't fix anything. My nails are super thick and super bumpy. I paid $45.00 dollars. This is how much I used to pay for a gel refill and a pedicure at the other place I usually visit. I am very disappointed because I spoke up and he neglected my comments. I may give this place a second chance in the future but will book strictly with Jason. read more

My friend went to Jason twice and I loved her nails, so I asked get to get me an appointment with him for my pre-Vegas set. She confirmed the appointment with Jason via text. I show up to the nail salon and am greeted by a woman, she asks how she can help me. I let her know I have an appointment with Jason, she says ok and tells me to take a seat. I sat down waiting around for Jason to come out. About 8-10 minutes later I see Jason. He asks me if I have an appointment with him then I say yes. He checks his appointment book and then tries to get me to have some other woman do my nails. I specifically made an appointment with Jason based on a referral and seeing his work on Instagram, so I told him I wanted him to do my nails and showed him a picture. He has me walk back to his station, then asks me if I have the texts showing my appointment confirmation. I pull out the screenshot with my confirmation and he starts sanding down my nails. Then he asks me to see the picture again. I show him the pic and he says "that takes a lot of time." I can totally tell he doesn't want to do my nails because he keeps staring at the picture and talking about how long it will take. He even mentioned that normally someone will text him to make an appointment and he will schedule the time. Newsflash that did happen Jason I have a screenshot of the texts as proof! At this point, I am annoyed because I can tell he doesn't want to do my nails and I am flying out the next morning so I know I won't have time to go anywhere else unless I get shitty basic nails. So I tell him if he doesn't want to do my nails I can leave. I'm not going to sit there uncomfortably, basically forcing someone to do my nails when they conveniently forgot about my appointment. He asks if I want to reschedule and I am like I had an appointment now but if you don't want to do my nails I can leave. FYI the appointment was made weeks in advance. He then stops and takes a call in the middle of me speaking to him about whether or not I'm getting my nails done. So of course I walk out. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A BUSINESS!! You should treat your customers with respect. If you want people to respect your time, you should respect theirs. Don't confirm an appointment if you don't have the time to actually get the job done. I WILL NEVER EVER go back to Jason's Nail Spa again. I don't care how good you are at doing nails, if you treat a new customer like shit, that will NEVER lead to return business. read more

I came in because I heard nothing but good things about the shop. I've been wanting to find a shop that does good shape AND nice designs. Surprisingly, that's hard for shops in Redwood City. You only get one or the other. I made an appointment and luckily when I went in, I was helped right away with my pedicure. I wanted to be in and out because I was leaving on a trip the next day. Well, this isn't that type of shop. The girl doing my pedicure was hella nice and friendly. The only complaint was that my toenails weren't all even (some were cut short and others left long). I didn't notice until the shellac was on and at that point there wasn't much that could be done. She tried to file some down but there wasn't much saving that could be done. I specially chose Jason to do my nails because of all the hype around him. I don't know if he had an off day or what but my nails were not what I wanted at all. I showed him a picture from his Instagram and said I want this exact design and I ended up with something that I didn't like and something different! I pointed it out to him and he was like well that's powder, sooo why wasn't I told and offered that?! I was irked but what could I do anything since he was pretty much done. I had just got them done and my nails already looked grown out. The shape wasn't even either. Some nails were longer than others. He kept blaming the last shop for the nails, but every time I go somewhere, they're usually able to fix it. Why were they left all weird looking (lumpy and crooked). When I pointed out the shape or his sloppy paint job, he would laugh and tell me to wait until the end. Again, trusting the hype around him, I waited and they were wack. I left him a tip because I'm nice and still appreciate people's time but the more time I spent looking at them, the more irked I was. I text him hoping he would offer to fix them and no response. My nails usually last 2-3 weeks before it starts looking like it's time for a fill, well here they didn't even last A WEEK! And his nails aren't cheap. To top it off, the shellac on my toes didn't last either. It peeled off completely on one nail. They're expensive and obviously use cheap products. Not worth it. Only reason I gave them an extra star was because I was actually seen on time. read more
