Upon arrival I was met by Kim (the owner) who was very friendly and followed COVID protocols. She checked my temperature, had sanitizer available, air purifiers going, and wore a mask (as did I) the entire time. She made me feel right at home and honestly made the entire process seamless. We had a nice conversation throughout, she told me how she has over 27 years in the business and asked me about myself. You know when people ask you about yourself, but they don't really care to hear the answer, they think they are just polite with asking? Well, this was not that. Kim was genuinely interested in what I said which made me feel like I knew her, and already liked her! She gave me a lot of tips/tools for making my skin healthier based on what she could see from our time together and was nice enough to shed some light on what facials are and what I would expect if I ever decided to have my very 1st facial! Kim also does ear piercings which is great to know (I have over 10 piercings myself) so this place was so right for me. She also sells products which I saw when I walked in, but she was not trying to sell them to me like some places do as soon as you walk in the door. I am rating my experience a 5 because it surprised me how comfortable I felt and to top it off, how fast and precise Kim was with my wax request. I pointed out the calluses and he took extra care addressing them until smooth. My only complaint was he ended up cutting/filing one of my big toes too much that it looked close to bleeding (it did break so it was short), and too many coats of the nail polish made it thick. Still an amazing experience and still worth the price. I booked pretty last minute so I didn't get to book some of the staff I see recommended on here. I definitely want to return. I've had many services here, including the hammam spa treatment, facials, and body wraps. Everything has been fine except for the facials. Regarding the facials: I've had problem skin that I was managing OK by myself, but I wanted better skin in preparation for my wedding. Mahin told me that the products I was using were too harsh on my skin and that if I got facials with her and used the products she recommended, my skin would become awesome. She mentioned previous clients whose skin she has turned around because these clients followed Mahin's regimen. Well, I was curious so I decided to try it. She seemed so nice and so genuine, so convinced she could help my skin. After 4-5 months of facials twice a month & following her skincare product regimen carefully, my face was worse than it started out. Acne, scarring, etc. By then, it was 2 months before the wedding... that's when I finally quit Mahin. Too late, though -- with all that acne and scarring, I needed a really thick spackle-job of makeup to cover it all up on the wedding day. So, fair warning. Maybe Mahin's expensive facials-and-products regimen works for some people, but it certainly didn't work for me after months of trying it and a lot of money down the drain.

After moving back from NY, I decided to try the Elite Spa in San Mateo. It was rated high by Yelpers. I was very disappointed with the results. (There was no dermabrasion and my skin broke out a few days later! It cost 175.00 by the way.) I am sick of wasting my money on the trendy day spas that offer a 1 hour facials that are exactly 50 minutes. I refuse to go to large spas where I might get just anyone. I am tired of painful extractions and breakouts after the facial. Mahin is like a Doctor when it comes to facials. I don't know any other way to say it but she is who I have been looking for.
