Came to Jasper Brewing Company twice during my stay in the national park. It was a relaxing way to end the long strenuous days of hiking and mountain biking with a beer as cold as the Canadian Rockies. One of the better IPA's I had during my time in Alberta, and the food was pretty good as well, although relatively standard for sports bars. I enjoyed the plethora of TV's around the restaurant, which was perfect for watching the Blue Jays games in the middle of summer. Stout was summery and they had a key lime lager which was rather ambitious but missed the mark. The wine list didn't feature anything local, so that was another bummer. Visited Jasper Brewing two nights in a row during my latest visit here. Firstly, the service is decent but can be better. I have read conflicting reviews on the service but we were pleased with the service we received initially however they took an eternity of time when it came to getting the check and making the payment. The ambiance is lovely for a brewpub. Now, the beer collection here is.... umm, interesting. They have a couple of really cool beers and I'm glad that it's an excellent variety. I tried a sampler of all their beers and must say that the Rockhopper IPA stood out. The 606 stout was decent too. I wanted a bit more kick in the pilsner. I will definitely be visiting this place to sample a couple of those beers. The food can be hit or miss. The Buddha stir fry thing was pretty average and the vegetarian in our group was given the opportunity to "enhance" it with a side of falafel. I don't really get how an Asian stirfry dish is supposed to go with falafels. The macadamia-salmon dish was pretty delicious. The burger - decent. All in all, it's a 3.5 star place. Stopped in after driving from Banff. Ordered a couple of beers and an order of chicken wings with the sweet and sour Korean sauce. Beers were decent. Wings were the worst. Soggy and the worst part was, they had been fried in old oil and tasted more like fish than chicken.. Yuk. Would come back for the beer but skip the food. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing, we were all really surprised. They add a little curried dip which is so delicious! The restaurant had a really nice atmosphere, it seemed clean and bathrooms were of good standard. Service was okay could be better. We may be the only people around who don't go to the Jasper Brewing Company for the beer! They have a gluten free burger that my husband loves and I'm all about their cheese/bacon burger. And yam fries. Don't forget the yam fries. We always eat in the lounge area as it has more ambience to it than the dining side. I always have the impression that the dining side is more of an after-thought to the lounge. The service was great and I would encourage you to get a seat by the window if you happen, like me, to be a people watcher. You can sit there and watch Jasper walk by! read more

Wherever we see a sign that says "brewing company", me and my wife need to get in to get a taste of local beers and food... so we couldn't miss this place in Jasper. We really enjoyed the food, I went for the steak sandwich and it was great... although more than a sandwich it was just a steak lying on half toasted baguette. We ate at the Jasper Brewing Company after hiking the Athabasca glacier for 7 hours. We were pretty hungry overall. This place did not disappoint. We had had the beer in Banff because they do bottle their beer and send it out. You can't go wrong with this place. It's loud and rowdy and the food is good along with being reasonably priced. My two sons had the fish and chips which were excellent. I had some kind of wild animal meatloaf which was absolutely phenomenal. You can get a very wide variety of food here whether you would like a burger or like myself, a little more on the Gourmet side. For dessert, we got the campfire smores. That was absolutely incredible. I won't describe it here, but trust me when I say you will be surprised at the taste and the presentation.The atmosphere is great the prices are reasonable, and the locals do eat here. I would suggest getting there a little earlier in the evening because they do tend to fill up very quickly. You can eat outside at their picnic tables, but because it was a little cool at night, we decided to eat inside. Awesome place. Good pub food. Didn't have a chance to try a beer, unfortunately. The monkey fingers were very tasty - a nice crisp breading with a hint of banana in the crust. Nice sized serving. The fish in the fish and chips was also good - again with the thicker crust, which I always think is better. Bucket of fries was just that - a bucket. Definitely more than I could eat! Some of the entrees seemed a little pricey, but it is Jasper so I'm not horribly surprised. Decor was nice. As a local, the Brew pub is A place that I frequent often, but for the beer, not the food. The food is often sub-par and quite pricey. The safest bets would be on the nachos, and the yam fries. The Brew Pub is an excellent place to go for a few relaxed beers after a day of skiing or hiking, or as a place to stop before headed to the bars. Personal favourites for drinks are the "black eye" ale, which is a well balanced blueberry vanilla beer, or the black and blue, which is a half stout, half blueberry ale. If your feeling dangerous, order a ninja poison, a cocktail involving 3 shots of vodka and a few juices which goes down like kool-aid. I can only give the service and food a combined 2.5 stars, but the drinks I will give 5 stars. Tip: if you are not feeling like waiting to be noticed, start by ordering at the bar. Typically it is the manager working there, and she will make sure you have someone looking after you. read more

We dropped in here one afternoon, that happened to be Super Bowl Sunday. Oh lordy. Luckily, we were early enough to be able to order and get our food before the rest of the 'Bowl crowd arrived, although it was pretty steady the entire time we were there. They had closed the one side of the restaurant, and were hosting "locals" to watch the game over on that side, and the rest of the folk were on the bar side. The service... well, not bad, but it wasn't Jasper Park Lodge kind of service. We did have to flag down our server a couple of times, and really, it's not that big of a place. Especially for a rare view of the only micro-brewery in a National Park! For us I think it's becoming like the "Big Things of Alberta" tour - when in a place with a brewery - get a tour! We hung around for quite a while, (90 minutes?) lingering over our food, waiting for the brewmaster to give us a tour, and as it turns out, it's pretty small brewery they hook the taps up right downstairs so you get it fresh right out of the tank! Since I can't drink the beer, I ordered food and wine. I ordered a fantastic gluten-free cuban sandwich. A bit of a false start when it showed up on the menu described Pretzel or Bagel bun, I returned it to the kitchen and they sent out the "right one" I was so shocked how HUGE and delicious the bun was I stopped the waitress and had her go back to the kitchen and CONFIRM it was gluten-free. We don't usually see such beautiful HUGE gluten free buns. Indeed, she said it was definitely gluten-free. Well then I *had* to know where it came from so I could get some to take home. If the buns were from a local bakery, I didn't want to leave town for the 4 hour drive home and pine for them. Our waitress did eventually find out from the kitchen that the buns were from Sysco. Not specifically who made them, but that's a start. I can ask my chef acquaintances if they can track down the vendor for those buns. I promise, I'll post photos - they're trapped on my camera right now. Drinks - well, it's not exactly a "full-service" bar. There's alcohol, but I ordered a blueberry tea, and she said they couldn't do that. No problem, a trip to Jasper Park Lodge would fix that later on our way home. Hmmmmm..... If my review could have a title that pretty much sums up my experience at the Jasper Brewing Company. I was pretty excited to visit it as my husband and I have eaten at the Banff Ave Brewing company and it was pretty awesome. But this place just kind of fell flat for us. Let me explain: The menu wasn't very big but seemed to have a lot of typical pub favorites but everything was sort of expensive. I get it, resort town, resort prices but seriously $21 for a steak sandwich or $18 for a beef dip (what can I say, I like beef so I notice beef prices). So we settled on salads .... They were still $12-14 dollars (protein free.... Yup no chicken, prawn or beloved beef here). I had a Cesar which had bacon and a lot of bacon which was nice. They also make their own croutons which were good. There wasn't too much dressing on mine which I like. Now my husbands mixed greens salad was dressed pretty heavily, he was not a fan of that. I guess all that really added a cost to the salad on the restaurants end would have been the goat cheese which there was a couple of table spoons of so I suppose it justifies the price.... Now this is what peeved me about the whole situation... Obviously, I check yelp before I go places to eat. I noticed if I checked in I would get $2.00 off a pint of beer.... So we totally check in and were stocked for $2.00 off the beer. My husband even ordered a bigger beer because heck he was saving $2.00 so why not get a bigger beer. Well.... After our beer was delivered we were informed that they can't do the $2.00 off the bigger beer. Sigh.... Kind of lame considering if you do the math he was only saving $1.00 by ordering the big beer instead of 2 of the other sized ones. But whatever, I could get over it. Then our waitress later on in the meal mentions again that they CAN'T do the discount on the bigger beer, rubbing salt in my frugal wounds. She knew I would probably would write a review about the place and I think wanted to reiterate managements stance on the matter, but, seriously... Ya'll brew the brew the beer, you could have done it if you wanted to you just wouldn't. Big difference between CAN'T and WON'T (not to be the grammar police or anything). Anywho, enough of my rant. I can say that I have never been to Jasper before so maybe the prices of food is comparative to the area. I wouldn't know. Would I go back here... My family and I shared a Toasted Reuben, a Classic Burger, and a Fried Chicken Sandwich, with the sides mixed greens, yam fries and regular fries. Everything was DELICIOUS. I wish I could go here and try everything on the menu. Veggies in the salad were very fresh; yam fries cooked perfectly, each of the sandwiches done well. I ended up coming back here to try the elk meatloaf which I also thought was really delicious. Service was nice and attentive. We came late one night and there was no wait. I stopped by this place for a late dinner since we got back into town fairly late. This restaurant is one of the few that opens until pass midnight. The place was very pub like. It was split in half; one side for family dining and other was bar dining. We went to the bar side since there was sitting right away. There were televisions on the walls everywhere. The atmosphere was lively. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a classic burger with sweet potatoes fries. nothing new or unusual. The burger was cooked medium rare - perfect. Went to the brewery last night, started off with a nice cold beer. Good tasting brews. Felt like some fish and chips, saw it was $22 but kind of expect it for halibut. When I got the meal it looked good, nice crispy golden batter, but when I bit into it that's all I could taste. The batter was mushy under the outside and couldn't taste any fish at all. The fries looked and tasted like the type you get in the frozen aisle in the grocery store, not great. After my first little ramekin of tartar sauce was finished after the first piece of fish I asked for another little tartar sauce, found out later it was an extra dollar! Didn't bother to order dessert after the meal. If you just stay for a drink it might be a four star review, but don't order food. read more

LOVE this place! My boyfriend and I were in Jasper only for a weekend, and we went to this place twice, sitting on the lounge side both times. On Friday night he ate a naan club sandwich and reports that it was delicious. I had the old school poutine and really enjoyed it. Huge portion for only 10 bucks! The gravy/sauce on the poutine is fantastic. On Saturday, we shared a platter of nachos with chicken. Seriously some of the best nachos I have ever had. The fresh salsa they supply is amazing, and they use a generous amount of toppings on their nachos. My boyfriend tried a few of theirs beers and we both really liked the blueberry vanilla ale. He liked it enough that he ran back later that night and purchased a (64 ounce, I think?) growler of the blueberry vanilla beer to bring home! We actually had the same waitress both times we were there. She was really nice both times, chatting with us and making us feel welcome. However, the second time we were there it took a long time for any waitstaff to approach us, despite the gentleman working that afternoon helping all the tables around us and looking over at us more than once. Thankfully our kind server from the previous day began her shift and saved the day! Oh also, they have a breathalyzer near the bathrooms that's two bucks towards a charity (STARS Ambulance, if I recall) so that was a fun way to feel good about drinking too much. read more

The beer here is awesome. Get beer. Nothing else. THEY USED TO BE SO GOOOOOOD. Then they changed their menu at least 3 times since January and stopped caring about quality and portion control. I go here EVERY time I go to Jasper. That's about once a month for the past year and a half. The first time I went It was amazing, they had a meatloaf that I ordered at least 2 more times, I'm pretty sure it was buffalo but now they've replaced it with elk. I had the mussels earlier this summer, and again awesome, and it was great to have them come with a lot of vegetables, maybe a bit too much food but it was great. I could list at least 5 other amazing dishes here that were amazing, before May, before they started screwing with the menu. The fish & chips. It's not the only thing but lets use this as a barometer. In early spring, brand new menu, no more meatloaf (heart breaks), so I try it. Oh my god the best fish and chips I've ever had. So light crispy and flaky, not greasy at all. The portions are more than I can eat but I'm ok with that, I'll gorge myself on these. Om nom nom nom nom (Last day of skiing at marmot, whenever that was) May Long. Same place, same craving for the fish and chips so I get them again. This time the portions are 1/2 the size. So when our table for two ordered one order and an appie for a light lunch (based on previous portion sizes) there wasn't enough. Ok, maybe it's a new chef, they're getting their portions figured out, last time was excessive anyways. The food quality was still good, but not to die for. "insert a few other beer centered experiences here" October. Same place same craving for the fish and chips. Order it. The coleslaw was old (brown on the edges). I could see my reflection on both the fish and the chips. It wasn't the crispy and flaky dish I'd come to love but one step above something out of a high liner box. I felt sick after eating 1/2 of it. Didn't care about the portion sizes. Advice to chef. STOP CHANGING YOUR MENU! You are in a resort town, people don't visit your restaurant enough to get so sick of your items to require an overhaul every 3 months. Also, you are in a resort town, your staff aren't always going to be the most talented/with you for a long time (let's just accept that fact). Pulling the rug out from under them every 3 months with a completely new menu does nothing to improve quality. Just stop and tweak, you had a good thing before the spring. It'll be a year before I consider going here again for anything other than a beer. read more

Great food and amazing presentation. We went here with a large group and they were accommodating and service was fast. The venue combines the outdoor mountain feel with a half dozen flatscreen TVs so wherever you are you can catch the game. I quite enjoyed the sampler ($12) of the 6 microbrews and my burger was delicious. A nice menu with more options than just greasy pub fare. I'd definitely return next time I'm in Jasper and the location on the main drag gives way to a fantastic mountain view and a chance to see many of the Canada Line Trains coming and going. read more

Considering the limited dining options in Jasper, the Jasper Brewing Co is a nice place to grab a locally brewed beer and a bison burger--that is if your server decides to acknowledge your existence. They must hire all the local teenage snowboarders during the summer tourist season because there is no other explanation for our server's can't-be-bothered attitude. He saw us and stood within 5 yards of us to chat with his buddies rather than come greet us, the table of paying customers. We had to raise our hands and ask if he was our server after being ignored for a good 15 minutes. Even after that, he was neither friendly nor attentive. Despite the poor service we experienced, our food was very tasty. Highlights of our meal included the Southwestern Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Bison Burger. They also have a unique beer selection that included my favorite of the night, Honey Bear Ale. read more

I was in town on Holiday from the States and I decided to drop into the pub and inquiry about filling my Growler. The Bartender was moderately experienced in some of the finer points of beer and brewing, I understood what he meant when he described their beers. I tried a pint of 6060 Stout and also tried a jigger of their Honey Bear Ale. I wasn't very impressed with the Honey Bear (the lime slice over powered the more nuanced Ale) but the 6060 Stout blew me away. The 6060 Stout wasn't just good, it IS Guinness' Canadian Cousin (the very polite one). The pint I ordered had the characteristic nitrogen induced waterfall, always a visual treat. I loved it so much that I ordered my Growler filled with the Stout only to realize it didn't store quite as well in my growler (my own fault); result, flat but tasty Stout and self indignation. The Brewpub is worth a visit just for their Stout. read more

They brew the beer here and it's very good. The place is big and roomy and great for intimate dinner or big fun groups. Phil had "the blonde" and it's wonderful. I'm sitting next to the brewer and he said it doesn't have a name yet but the women call it the blonde. Drew the bartender is friendly, funny and very handsome. Love Jasper Brewing Co! Great stop for a pint of their own local beer or some pub grub for dinner. I had the veggie burger with fries which was delicious with its beetroot, but was definitely a bit messy! They have a rotating tap of beers, so I usually try a more fruitier blend. But, I have enjoyed every pint I have tried. It does get busy and you may be placed at a shared table. However, just keep your eye out for a booth and you will be set for the night. My boyfriend and I came to eat here after spending the day hiking for about 8 hours. So glad we did. We sat outside had a refreshing beer and I love the variety of food items on the menu.
