Iced Maple Chai, honeybee coffee, and a mango green tea
Mark H.

Quiet, friendly café a little out of the way. This cafe had a menu that was easy to find and read, unlike some places on Ojai Ave. Got an iced Maple Chai, honeybee coffee, and a mango green tea. Outdoor seating behind the café. A lovely oak tree above the plaza dropped a few catkins and some pollen onto our table!

Was in Ojai for the day! Needed caffeine and I found Java & Joe while walking around Ojai. I passed a lot of coffee shops but this one caught my attention as it was also a gift shop. I ordered a 20oz White Chocolate Mocha for 5.25 which wasn't a bad price! That's what I pay around or more at my local shops. I think Starbucks is more! Happy to support this local spot! My drink was perfect! They have a patio outside in the back and a few tables out front! When in Ojai, I'd def stop here again! Young woman at register was friendly but not everyone was. She was also helping to make drinks but was chill. They were super busy and seem overwhelmed compared to the lady that assisted me. They busy with a big group of bicyclists that had just ordered.

My Favorite Coffee Spot in Ojai! This is hands down one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. The ambiance is incredibly cozy and welcoming--perfect for relaxing, reading, or catching up with a friend. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, always making you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or just passing through Ojai, I highly recommend stopping by. It's easily the best coffee shop in the area and has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. I love this place so much I recommend it to everyone!

Cool coffee shop! I really like their mocha with 2 espresso shot and soy milk. Taste perfect for the hot day. Love the variety of merch they have here from cups to teas. Their cold brew coffee was also light and smooth. We went to a few coffee shop and this was my fav location for the area.

Snickers specialty hot drink. 4 shots of expresso.

Always friendly and the coffee is always good. I have tried most of the specialty drinks and they never disappoint. Service is always fast and even when busy never do I have a problem with quality. If you're local or visit often grab a little punch card for a free cup after you get a few. Kinda similar to most coffee places apps for rewards just the old school way.

They have an amazing coffee beans selection. And without shadow of doubt, they pour the best espresso in Ojai.

Even though the shop was a little busy and I was taking up extra time, the staff were all very friendly and upbeat and didn't make me feel bad for the line stacking up behind me. When the beans I wanted happened to be sold out of pre-packaged bags, she went and filled and sealed a fresh bag for me right then and there. Awesome! My original review was much nicer but since then the owner has messaged me demanding that I take down my review when it was honest and not rude. However, I will make my review much clearer. The cashier (now I'm assuming owner) was incredibly condescending towards my friend who had never tried one of the non-dairy milks. My other friend did not enjoy her drink and was possibly the worst latte you could ever make at a whopping $10 a pop. I'm not really sure why this owner, Stacy, feels entitled to demand I take down my review. But it will in fact stay, and I hope every person who ventures to visit this coffee shop stays away.

They do a soft close from 2-5 where they don't serve the food menu but offer drinks, coffee and pastries. We stopped in on the 4th of July and were seated right away. They also have a coffee and pastry counter if you want to grab something to-go. You do not want to miss out on the pastries, and the display sure catches your eye. Along with our main we split a morning bun which was flaky and just the right amount of sweet. As we were walking out I noticed some sandwiches that looked extra tasty as well. We kept it simple and split the Dutchess Breakfast Plate since we had quite a bit of eating planned for the day, but it was more than enough to satiate us alongside the pastry. It comes with these massive, crispy and spiced potatoes, big slabs of Niman Ranch bacon, tomato chutney, thick-cut sourdough toast and two eggs. At $22 this isn't cheap, but the quality is there and I would order this again just for those potatoes. The Burmese Fried Chicken Sando seemed to be the most popular dish and I was jealous as I saw it hitting other tables. I'll just have to come back!

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.

It's located in a parking lot behind the main strip and in a residential area. All street parking but it tends to be pretty easy. There's a bakery vendors that I've had a few times but they do sell out quite fast. Their fresh baked bread and sweets are one not to be missed. This visit, they weren't there in their usual section so I assume they were pretty much sold out fast. Loads of fresh organic vendors with all their goods. As it was summer, there were so many vendors with amazing tomatoes. Heirlooms, grape tomatoes and so all. Everything all looked so fresh and I'm sure it was straight from the farm that morning. Also loads of other vendors selling their homemade goods, like soap to candles to everything in between. Majority of the vendors are fresh produce so you know you'll be picking up fresh farm products. Also fresh flowers are always a must when a visiting the farmers market. Can't forget the fresh berries and fruits. Doesn't scream summer without all the fresh berries straight of the plant. Regardless what you're looking for or not, I'm sure you'll always leave with plenty of fresh things at this market. Their items are always so fresh. A must whenever I'm Ojai. Prices are a bit more than Oxnard prices but I do think it's great to support local especially seeing the quality difference between local vendors and grocery stores. $13 for eggs still seems a bit steep for recovering from the egg hiked prices where they are now back to $6-7 in grocery stores.
