Amazing food that exceeded my expectations! It was hard to decide what to order, but we ended up sharing the sopes and the goat cheese & veggie tacos, and everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Their corn tortillas are to die for. They also have plenty of gluten-free options, which was perfect for my mom who has celiac. We even got a delicious gluten-free peanut butter cookie to finish. There's lots of seating, and since it was such a nice day, we sat on the patio. Food came out quickly too.

Haven't had sopes since being in Mexico and these were surprisingly delicious! Bigger and more filling than I thought they'd be. The flour they make it with is thick and so good, I just wish they had knives sharper than butter knives to cut them. I kept struggling to cut a bite and then cutting through and eating the paper... lol. Salad looked great but unfortunately was super oily and I didn't end up eating it. Food came out quick, love the outdoor seating. Good but was it worth $17? I am not sure haha

We had such a great experience our first time here, we decided to stop by again. We only had a few people in front of us, but it took a long time to order. I waited for the cashier to call me and she looked at me oddly for waiting. We ordered a smoothie and a tonic. We grabbed a seat, the first table was filthy and had hair on it, so we moved. There was no air conditioning and it was almost hotter inside than outside! After waiting almost 30 minutes I walked up to see where our order was. The same cashier was by herself and again gave me an odd look. She asked if I'd ordered food or drinks and before finishing her question read back my order. She went in the back and walked them out to me stating they've been really busy. The drinks tasted good! However, no fun decoration for the smoothie like prior. Very disappointed in this trip!

so my wife and I decide to eat at the farmer and the cook since my wife is vegan and I'm open-minded. Now I get the fact that I love so Mexican food unfortunately I have an allergy to cilantro, which makes my ordering kind of truncated. With that said who served me not quite sure what exactly I ate, but I was still hungry afterwards. also the meal came out somewhere between cold and look warm. My wife's food was along the same lines. no, I'm not sure if this is the norm for this place or if we just had stuff that was served at the wrong temperature. Between all this and the cup of mocha coffee, we ordered which honestly just tasted like a cup of water down hot chocolate with very little coffee resemblance in the cup. Needless to say we were underwhelmed and truth we're not gonna go back. The market seem well put together and I'm guessing if you live up in those neck of the woods and that's the kind of food you like shopping for this would be an ideal place . Maybe we ordered the wrong thing. But serving food at that temperature without warning, and also the interesting fact that you order at the counter and they bring the food. Nobody actually bother to check on us to make sure we were happy with the food. Never been there before, but shall not be returning .

We stopped at this little roadside cafe. Everything was organic. I got the coffee and breakfast burrito. It was good you have to ask for the hot taco salsa

This was our morning stop before heading back to LA and their burrito and vanilla latte were delicious! Both the inside and outside areas have plenty of space to eat and the service was very quick.

Excellent staff, excellent food, and excellent ambiance. Really can't go wrong with this spot. They gave us great recommendations for our first visit to Ojai and to this restaurant. We got the chips with guacamole and salsa, peach iced tea, huarache, and the tamale. Everything was great portion size and the food tasted so fresh and filling. We also got the peanut butter and oatmeal cookies, both were good but a very coconut taste (which I'm not a fan of but if you are then these are your cookies!!). Definitely would return on my next visit to Ojai.

I had the burrito and it was delish. They also have indoor or outdoor dinning which is a plus . It's so peaceful and just so lovely! Enjoy the nom

Been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally got the chance to. It's a cute place with a market in the front and then the remainder of the building seating for the restaurant. They have a great outdoor are that you can sit at surrounded by beautiful plants and it even wraps around from what I believe. The service was mediocre. The gals taking our order were very dry and didn't seem to be very helpful which was a bummer, but we only talked to them to order. The food itself was simply delicious. To have so many healthy, vegetarian, and vegan options and pull it off is something that I can respect. I ordered the cauliflower tostada, which I was a little nervous as I am not a super big fan of cauliflower, but it was soooo good! It also came with beans and rice and I didn't feel heavy after eating it. If you're visiting, definitely be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but the food will be worth it!

Was in Ojai the other morning and stopped by Farmer and The Cook for breakfast. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and all the ingredients, especially the avocado, tasted fresh. Unfortunately, when I was drinking my coffee I got a big gulp of coffee grounds. The bottom of my cup was layered with coffee grounds. It was disgusting. Overall, The Farmer and The Cook had great food, a friendly staff, a great small town diner setting but the coffee definitely brought down the meal.

I had seen someone post about their matcha affogato so I had to go with my husband to try it. It is off of one of Ojai's Main Street so it can get loud if you are planning to stay and sit. No private parking but there's plenty of street parking around the area. There's limited seating outside. It was a bit confusing to us but it does seem like its first come for seating. Inside is pretty small to order. It is really cute how it's like a mini market with wine and other items. We for sure went wanting to try their matcha affogato which we got. We also got some of their pastries and a simple plate which was perfect for me. Everything was really good. We absolutely loved the matcha affogato. We are really glad we went. Overall, cute place. My original review was much nicer but since then the owner has messaged me requesting that I take down my "insensitive review" when it was honest and not rude. However, I will make my review much clearer. The cashier (now I'm assuming owner) was condescending towards my friend who had never tried one of their non-dairy milks. My other friend did not enjoy her drink and in her opinion was possibly the worst latte you could ever have at a whopping $10 a pop. I'm not really sure why the owner, Stacy, felt entitled to ask I take down my review. But it will in fact stay, and I hope every person who ventures to visit this coffee shop stays away. Yelp was made to make honest reviews about one's experiences. Smart business owners know not everyone will have the same experience. We arrived around 5:40 pm on a Saturday without a reservation and were first on the walk-in waitlist. Our server was attentive, checked on us frequently, and was very helpful in explaining the menu. I also mentioned a food allergy, and she made a point to reassure me that everything had been taken care of, which I really appreciated. Our food also came out relatively quickly. We ordered the Tuna Tartare Tartine, Aguachile, Japanese Sweet Potato, and Hanger Steak. Everything was delicious, but the Tuna Tartare Tartine and Hanger Steak were the standouts for me. Both were especially flavorful and memorable. We also tried the Pavlova for dessert. It was probably the weakest part of the meal for me, but the passionfruit flavor was still interesting and I'm glad we tried it. If you're coming without a reservation, I'd recommend arriving as close to opening as possible to get a better spot on the waitlist. The nice part is that they text you when your table is ready, so there are plenty of nearby shops and a park to walk around while you wait. There's free street parking around the restaurant, and we also found a nearby public lot within a short walk. Overall, Rory's Place was definitely worth the visit to Ojai, and I'd happily come back.
