Came here once awhile back as a quick stop since I was passing by it. I do remember liking it. I was finally able to go back and sit to enjoy their food comfortably. I had seen someone post about their matcha affogato so I had to go with my husband to try it. It is off of one of Ojai's Main Street so it can get loud if you are planning to stay and sit. No private parking but there's plenty of street parking around the area. There's limited seating outside. It was a bit confusing to us but it does seem like its first come for seating. Inside is pretty small to order. It is really cute how it's like a mini market with wine and other items. We for sure went wanting to try their matcha affogato which we got. We also got some of their pastries and a simple plate which was perfect for me. Everything was really good. We absolutely loved the matcha affogato. We are really glad we went. Overall, cute place. this place is a scam. i fell victim to the tiktok propaganda because of the matcha affogato. let me tell you why its a scam. 1. one matcha affogato was $14, plus tips we paid $16. that is crazy. 2. it took over 25 min for some ice cream with matcha poured over it. the waiter did say it was gonna take a while but still 25 minutes for soft serve... 3. remember how it's $16, yea you don't get a full soft serve. the inside is hollow. absolute scam. 4. because the inside is hollow, the affogato melts in 30 seconds. right when the waiter brought it out, it was melting. also the matcha is not even on the ice cream. most of it dropped out onto the plate as you can see in the picture. did they expect me to lick the plate to get the matcha? also someone got the same thing and their ice cream was completely folded over. even i felt bad looking at it. this place clearly has no quality check and you just have to be lucky to get a good serving. if you want to waste $14-$16 for 2 pics yea maybe but overall the way it was completely hollow is terrible. read more

We ordered the breakfast burrito (unfortunately, they didn't have any chorizo available) and the Korean rice bowl. The Korean rice bowl was definitely my favorite of the two, as it had more variety in terms of taste and texture. The food here If I were to return in the future, I'd be curious to try the butter and ham sandwich, as that seemed to be a favorite of some of the regulars. There was plenty of parking spaces on the Main Street where this is located and it's surrounded by alot of cute shops to explore. I also got the chorizo breakfast burrito and a hojicha latte and my friend got a tuna sandwich and a blood orange turn up cookie. The breakfast burrito was big but nothing to write home about. I really wanted to like Rory's Other Place, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The ordering area is a narrow little corridor that can barely fit two people side by side, so if there's even a small line, you're basically standing shoulder to shoulder with strangers while trying to decide what to eat. I ordered the Korean bowl with pork belly, and it was... rough. Everything on the plate besides the pork and rice was pickled...kimchi cucumber, kimchi, pickled bean sprouts, pickled cabbage. It was all piled together so that every bite just tasted like -- well kimchi. The pork itself was bland and completely drowned out by all the acidity. There was also a soft boiled egg plopped in the middle that was so undercooked I genuinely don't know how they were able to peel it without it collapsing. To make matters worse, they give you soy sauce to pour over the entire dish, which somehow made it even saltier The cracked bowls didn't help either. It's hard to enjoy your meal when the dishes look like they've been through a few too many dishwasher cycles. It just didn't feel clean. The area to sit is hardly shaded, and on warmer days can be uncomfortable. The silverware and water station are sitting in the same unshaded patio. The water was warm, no ice available, and served in metal cups that also harnessed the beautiful warm California day... I usually try to find a silver lining, but this one was a total miss. You have relatively dry fish and then with it are crackers (could have more) and pickled veggies. Some type of sauce could help break up the textures and add variety to the pairings too. Otherwise they have so many tinned fish options to try for the board so that was really nice. - Dirty Matcha: 4/5 - Good! It is a cafe but also feels like a small breakfast joint so it feels less self service and more of a dine in experience so I feel like it could've done with a check in or two.
