This place is outstanding ! While it is somewhat similar to a Chipotle in setup, it is WAY nicer and way more interesting. I came here with 4 other friends while we were in Hilton Head for a conference. I had the pork burrito along with chips and queso. One friend had the fish tacos and a margarita. Another friend is a vegetarian so I'm not sure what they had. Everyone was extremely happy with Java Burrito as our choice of where to have lunch. The atmosphere is sort of upscale (for essentially a fast food restaurant). It is warm and friendly. The only negative might be that it is too small for how great it is. We went after the typical lunch rush and still had a little difficulty finding a seat. I imagine that it gets a LOT of customers and could fill twice as many seats as they currently have. We didn't try the specialty coffees but we all agreed that the concept of a Mexican restaurant with specialty coffees was a unique and exciting idea. I can guarantee that we will be back on our next trip to the area. read more

This place DOES NOT disappoint!! The only disappointment is how so many reviews compares this to Chipotle! This is so, so much better than Chipotle will ever be on its best day!! They offer great fresh selections of veggies & fish as well as their coffee/tea bar is off the chain!! Highly recommend the fresh catch of the day in a bowl! The swordfish & mahi-mahi were so good! The fresh baked bread got high praises as well! The owner is on site expediting orders to ensure fast, efficient and friendly service!!' We ended up going three more times in six days. Elite status Chipotle at a great price! Amazing burritos and bowls-- was thinking about them for weeks after. The food is so vegetarian and vegan friendly. I had the Beyond Meat burrito with cilantro lime rice, grilled veggies, black beans, queso, all of their salsas, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, onion, cilantro, fresh jalapenos, guac, and cotija. The salsas they had were so unique and refreshing-- I especially liked the mango salsa. Additionally, I tried the Mexican Mocha in an iced form. It was really good and very unique compared to the offerings of Starbucks and regular coffee shops. HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

When we walked in, we were immediately greated. Luckily it wasn't too busy at 9:45am on a Monday, because it took us a minute to decide! The staff were very accommodating with our questions! The staff worked super fast to get us down the line, the food is freshly made, lots of options, and SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! We both got chorizo and egg burritos with various other toppings. Since it was breakfast, we got coffee-- I had the Mexican Mocha which was fantastic, and my husband had the house blend daily brew. They also have coffee cocktails if you're so inclined. They serve beer, wine, and other cocktails. And they have milkshakes and ice cream! Something for everyone at every time of day. It was clean, with industrial decor, and family style seating. Imagine if Starbucks and Chipotle had a genetically altered super baby, this would be it! Good food and friendly efficient service! The ingredients tasted fresher and more flavorful compared to similar "taco bar" style food chains. Chicken and some of the salsas were just a tad bit on the saltier side for me personally, but despite this found my meal quite satisfying. Place had decent happy hour specials along with breakfast/coffee menu options. I was in Hilton Head, SC for the weekend attending a weekend and this place was not too far from the resort the wedding was located at. This place also had a nice little cozy outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant with plenty of seating. Great place for a quick bite or drink. I have never had a burrito taste so good that my eyes quite literally widen every time I take a bite. JB does not only make the tastiest burritos, but the coffee drinks are also on point. The Affogato hits the spot and makes a great dessert after a delicious burrito. I've recommended this place to over five people, and they are all hooked. We stumbled upon this place by accident today, and I'm so glad we did. The Java Burrito Company is very clean and welcoming as you enter. The ordering process was simple and clear as you walk in. You could order a burrito, tacos, bowl or a salad for any of the meat or veggie options. Every employee that we encountered was friendly, outgoing and helpful. They also have beer, wine and margaritas available. Steve had the tacos (3 to an order) and a beer, and I had a burrito (very large) and a glass of wine. Everything was very well prepared. I also loved that it was an open kitchen, and that they buy local here in SC. They also have a coffee bar that we did not get to try out this trip, but I look forward to it next time. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting, that the layout reminded me of a fancy coffee shop. Just a very comfortable feel that welcomes you to bring your laptop and get some work done while you are there. I look forward to coming for breakfast next time. I feel I will be enjoying a breakfast burrito and a capuchino here in my very near future. read more

This was our first time trying this place because the lines are so long. We finally decided to wait and it was very good. It's pretty much chipotle with a few more ingredient options AND a coffee bar. Despite crowds, we found seats easily and it was a good lunch. Guacamole is better than chipotle. read more

I really really enjoyed my morning coffee and my afternoon burrito bowl from Java burrito! It's the cutest little place, and I really should have gotten breakfast while I was there to grab some coffee. But we did grab an afternoon burrito bowl and it was delicious. Basically like Chipotle or Qdoba, but it tasted way better. I mean, I love Chipotle and Qdoba, but I really did like this even better. I will definitely come back next time we are on HHI! read more

The food here is delicious and tastes fresh. It's great for breakfast or a fast pick up on lunch. My reservations lie in the staff here at this specific location - half the time they're not friendly and they act like customers are an inconvenience. They're getting paid to work, right? Choose a different line of work if you're not into customer service. We normally come for breakfast or lunch and have positive experiences... the dinner time staff is another story the handful times we have gone. The barista this last time was SO rude, to the point where I regret tipping and would like a full refund for our drinks and felt the need to leave this review. She was short with us and was in no rush to get our drinks made as a line was forming behind me. She didn't give me my receipt either. It was dinner hour - we've never had this issue before where the staff was blatantly rude. There was a miscommunication error and she snapped at me in front of another staff member and a line of customers. She should be grateful to have a job in customer service considering her poor attitude. The Savannah location just opened and we like that one a lot and haven't had any issues with customer service or friendliness at during all business hours. read more

Wife found this place while looking for not as blatant tourist eateries in HHI. It's part of a quaint little shopping complex, ample parking on a weekend lunch visit. Quite busy once you enter, but there was always people leaving so, seats could be found inside or out. Reminds me of a slightly higher level Chipotle. You basically order your bowl/burrito, meat choice, rice, beans, and all the fixings. I will give them credit for including queso as a condiment without an upcharge. I ordered the pork bowl, and it was quite tasty. The rice isn't as addictive as the stuff from Chipotle, and the bowl size wasn't as generous. However, it does taste different enough, and taste good enough to be a solid alternative if you don't want to the same generic pseuo seafood readily available. Their chips are well seasoned, and thick. Definitely pairs well with cheese dip. The gimmick here is that they also serve coffee in the same restaurant. Lots of varieties of a local-style cafe. I opted for the "Special" coconut iced coffee. It was a little watered down, but otherwise unremarkable. Maybe I should have gotten an espresso version? read more

Best margarita I've had in awhile. Fresh juices. They have a happy hour from 4-6 where drinks are $5. This js essentially a pricier Chipotle with really great drinks. People are nuts about it here, and at peak times, there will be a line out the door. You do not have to wait in the line to get the drinks.
