I've been here before and have had excellent food, however this last time I went, I had a totally different experience. The steak was really cold and kinda chewy. The tortillas seemed more rubbery, the chips were cold, and the cheese dip. I don't know what on earth they did to the cheese dip but it tasted like gritty, chunky, white gravy you can get from like Waffle House. When I went back up and asked if that was the queso the girl told me yes and I was honestly flabbergasted. I always enjoyed this place because of how fresh everything tasted and it literally tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Maybe it's because we did a later lunch so we were just given scraps, I don't know but it was so bad that I'm honestly scared to go back. My husband and I both ended up with really bad stomach cramps and TMI issues 30mins to an hour after eating here. We love this place so much. Multiple visits while in Hilton Head produced multiple great breakfasts and great cups of coffee. I love the classic breakfast sandwich with the yummy pineapple enhanced bread. Daughter 1 loves the tacos and daughter 2 the bowls. The concept was fun. It reminded me of a rustic Moe's with a code bar. The burrito/taco bar is great and loaded with choices. The steak breakfast burrito was great. My husband got the chorizo breakfast bowl. We love chorizo and had our own business that made it. This wasn't chorizo. I wouldn't have even called it spicy or noted a kick. It was a complete let down. The guy helping us out even told us it was just ok. The lattes, one hot and one iced but the same flavor (mexican mocha) were totally different, flavor wise. My husband prefers hot but like my cold more. Lastly, I'll say it's a smidge pricey. For a small breakfast burrito, an egg and chorizo bowl and 2 coffees, no other sides,it was $30 before tip. At home, at our favorite local shop (Bold Bean), we got 2 coffees, milk for our kiddo,a breakfast sandwich, hand pie and bagel for that. It's all gourmet and fresh too. read more

This place was a last minute dinner stop on our Hilton Head vacation before our 12 hour journey home. The name depicts exactly what they serve: coffee and burritos! Reviews suggested it was similar to Chipotle but on another level - and they weren't wrong! A burrito bowl is my go-to at places where you pick your own combinations of food, though tacos, burritos and salads are all options here. You are able to choose your meat from the selection listed on the menu and the type of rice you want. There were so many toppings to choose from it was almost overwhelming! I stuck with what I normally get at a Chipotle with the addition of peach salsa (YUM!) and onions. Every bite was heavenly as the ingredients were top notch - so fresh! The one criticism I have is that there were a couple of ingredients that were running low or were completely out and several customers were unable to have them because they weren't refilled fast enough. It was neat, however, to watch the chef in the background cook the fresh meats and veggies for everyone to see, confirming how fresh they truly were! Side Note: Outdoor seating is available if the weather is nice! Next, we stopped at the coffee bar for a drink for the road.When the name suggests Coffee and Mexican, you must try both! I got an iced chai latte that was pretty good, though a little on the expensive side. I would not consider what I got to be of higher quality than if I were to order the same thing at a coffee shop down the street. Overall, the price is worth the food at this place. It is worth stopping in if you want to enjoy fresh, upscale Mexican cuisine. The coffee bar setup looks neat, but I'm not totally convinced the products are worth the price in this scenario. One day, Mr. Starbuck was at the beach and came across a beautiful girl, Señorita Chipotle. Well, long story short, it was a match made in heaven and they gave birth to a beautiful bundle of joy who they named Java Burrito. They lived happily ever after... Like the reviews mention, JB is a glorified Chipotle, however, I really enjoyed the fresh ingredients, the decor of the restaurant and the option to have have coffee afterward. Very very close to Chipotle, but I felt like Java was a lot better. Their tortillas, chicken, and guac just was better. It felt homemade. The people were so friendly, its nice and clean. From an honest point of view, after thorough consideration, I would give this place a 2.5 out of 5. The food is pretty good, but very over priced. In addition, the coffee is weak and tastes like straight creamer and milk. Atmosphere is not bad as well as the silverware etc. I would much rather enjoy a meal like this at a Chipotle, for a cheaper price. Also, the additional ingredients in your burrito are overpriced. Possibly the best food on the island, chipotle style but so much better! The peach salsa and cucumber salsa are incredible. Excellent vegan and gluten-free options. For customers with food allergies the staff is knowledgeable and eager to help - I was so impressed on my first visit when the staff member I was speaking with offered to prepare my family's food from ingredients in the back to reduce cross contamination risk! Won't belabor all of that, but offer some specifics: Try the habanero cucumbers - not that spicy but super refreshing. Get peaches on your burrito!
