Repeated last year's choices because they were just so darn good. Salad with chicken for me, pork bowl for my dad, and "special" (chicken and steak in queso sauce) burrito for my husband. Different place for lunch or dinner. Indoor or outside seating. Inside tables spread out but could be noisy. Service is help yourself. Get in line, pick your food, pay & go to your table. Pick a bowl and fill it up. Choice of chicken or beef then get rice, vegetables & various sauces etc. All super good with as much as you want. Prices are good & worth filling up with food. Very enjoyable. read more

Why is this place so far from where I live?! The whole set up is brilliant for breakfast! Super friendly staff, love all the options from bowls to burritos and the vibe is what you love about a coffee shop. I made my own breakfast bowl and whatever is in that cilantro lime habanero cucumber salad is the bomb! It took my bowl to the next level. The best coffee I had all weekend was their toasted coconut latte. It was creamy and yum! Got my day going right. Top notch place! read more

Java is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. The interior was clean and nicely decorated. To order, you tell whether you want a salad, burrito, bowl, etc, plus what protein you want. Including egg as a protein option which is nice for a vegetarian. Then you go down the line telling them the toppings you want. We all loved our food! We also took advantage of their $5 daily happy hour! A bonus...they also have a coffee shop here! We would definitely return here! read more

I had tried their Savannah outlet, but this is apparently the original Java Burrito. It has ample outdoor seating in a verdant shopping center and an assembly line style ordering. I kind of wished I'd just ordered online as it was a bit busy in that line when I arrived. This place offers a good variety of customization, and while some of their cheeses looked appealing, I went vegan and still ended up with three tacos that were bordering on overflowing for a quite reasonable price. This is one of those places where the veggie option is all the vegetables/rice/beans plus free guacamole, all for a relatively lower price, which I am fine with. Things were pretty well separated out, and this is likely to be one of the few good options in the area for people with particular special dietary needs. The outdoor seating was being colonized by some stinging caterpillars that are apparently a seasonal hazard in the area, so watch out for that. read more

Service and food exceptional. The pork quesadilla is my fav. Meat is super tender. Great toppings. Homemade sauces are different levels of spiciness. We did take out on quesadillas and burritos- two dinners for sure. Can eat in a small cafe or outdoors. Certainly get your moneys worth. Really great find in Hilton Head! Burritos, Tacos, bowls, salads, and a coffee bar! Not a combo I would think of, but one I am now obsessed with. Food was delicious and the staff was patient with us since we needed a few minutes figuring out our order as it was our first time. The venue is small but it's a perfect cafe for a quick breakfast before the beach or pool. I'd love to go back! read more

A must-stop when in HHI for an easy and delicious meal. Usually come for lunch at least once per trip for a quick burrito bowl and sometimes a coffee. Service was good and food was great as usual. Was slightly disappointed this time around as the food prep skimped a little on the rice and then overloaded me with guac ... would have preferred it the other way around, but it didn't ruin my meal or experience. Loved this place! I would definitely go back. Super fresh ingredients. Loved the chicken. I got a burrito bowl. It was like Moe's or Chipotle except fresher. Have been going to island for 30 yrs & found this 5 yrs ago after a morning workout. Have been going yearly since for breakfast. Solid breakfast - have tried the burrito and tacos. Delicious build-your-own burritos/tacos/bowls with fresh ingredients. As another reviewer said, "like Chipotle, but better"! Plenty of vegetarian options and a catch of the day that they will cook up for you on request. My spouse raved about the peach salsa. Breakfast burritos looked good too. They were fast and efficient AND have mastered burritos + coffee and espresso drinks - good ones. I had the honey lavender latte and was not mad. I hate a flavored latte that drowns out the coffee. This did not. Quite a few locals eating here too, which is always a good sign! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast or lunch during a Hilton Head stay. read more

Always worth a stop when in HH. Make your own burrito with a bunch of great meat choices, veggies, and salsas. Eggs are made to order for your burrito, but make sure to get some of your salsas on the side. Otherwise, it'll be kinda messy. read more

This is a great business concept to have make your own breakfast burritos (tacos, bowls, etc). It's like a Chipotle for breakfast (but also open for lunch and dinner). Staff did not seem very friendly and it felt they were slightly annoyed at us (it was a first time, so maybe that was obvious as we were trying to figure it out). Price was fair for a create your own. Would go again and put less in our burrito next time, but it was tasty! Would definitely try other things as well. Good food, we were vacationing in Hilton Head and didn't feel like dealing with a sit down restaurant. Burrito bowls sounded like the perfect dinner. My husband picked up the food but he said the place was packed and was pretty lively. Maybe the margarita specials are drawing in a crowd. Food was very good, lots of variety. Imagine chipotle on steroids! Queso was most amazing. Pineapple, mango salsa was best I ever had. Eggs as a protein option was really fantastic. Wife loved the potatoes on her bowl. This restaurant was so good! I love eating at a good Mexican place. Especially one with coffee. I got a burrito bowl. Their chicken was delicious! The employees were so nice. Their tomatoes were very fresh. I loved the ambiance of the place. Very clean and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I didn't get the chance to try the coffee although it smelled very good. Wow. This is basically Chipotle but with eggs and coffee bar. And until now I didn't know I needed this in my life. But I do; I want my Mexican bowls to include eggs...and peaches...and sweet potato fries...and be eaten at 9am. I got the egg and chicken bowl. The hot sauce was great but be sure to ask for two scoops because they were a little stingy, probably fearful people might think it's too hot. Definitely ask for some sweet potatoes too. And definitely say yes to the peaches. Also, the queso is included and yes you want the queso. It's great. Unless you get the "special" instead of a protein as the "special" is chicken + steak in a queso-esque sauce. My wife had it, it lived up to the billing. We were.in Hilton Head for three breakfasts. This independent, a funkier version of Qdoba or Chipotle, offers a nice selection of breakfast items including several kids options. If you don't want breakfast, skip the food line and head to the separate coffee area to place an order with the barista. NOTE: Java Burrito is popular with tourists and locals. It's busy in the morning. There's a large outside dining area besides the inside cafe. read more

Since our normal place for breakfast on the island close last year, I was looking for somewhere different to eat and this was highly recommend it. We came in and immediately could smell delicious coffee and it was. It's a little hard to tell exactly how you're supposed to order, but want to place orders of food came fairly quickly, even though they forgot our side order of bacon. Kid got the French toast, which was very tasty. I got avocado toast, which was very generous in avocado and toppings. My husband got the breakfast sandwich and was left a little underwhelmed as it was mostly egg and there was not enough cheese, or anything else to really provide dimension to the sandwich. So what is Java burrito? Imagine if you had a chipotle that serve beer and wine and also breakfast but not just breakfast tacos for more options and some bakery things that's sort of what you have a burrito is. We'd like to go back for lunch options. read more

Came here today for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. I got 3 soft shell tacos with eggs and eggs. The Steak was great and not chewy at all. The eggs were nice and fluffy and everything was seasoned well. The peach salsa was the absolute best and paired perfectly with the savory steak. I also got a Honey Lavender Latte and it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back at least once on my trip and can't recommend it enough. read more

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

I tried the Sand Dollar latte, it was so good. 10/10. We were seated quickly, and they have a nice indoor dining area, and a lovely outside patio. Service was very quick, as we also ordered breakfast. I had their omelet with hashbrowns and toast. Nice portion sizes, and very good! Best of all was the price. Very reasonable. This place goes on our list of regular stops on HHI. Give it a try!

My grandkids were recently in town so I decided to take them someplace we'd never been. We loved everything about this Java Burrito. I was able to recharge with some much needed caffeine thanks to my made-to-order coffee (which was delicious) and enjoyed one of the best chicken burritos I've had in a very long time. The food is fresh and you can tell that when you bite into it. My grand kids are already begging to come back to visit so we can go there again. Even though they'd run out of tortilla chips by the time we got there (so maybe we'll try going earlier in the day next time) -- I still highly recommend it. read more

First time there -- Great food - Fresh ingredients - locally sourced, generous portions with Good Prices. The Staff was very friendly. Java Burrito is located in an easy to access location with both indoor and outdoor seating. We visited Java Burrito every day during our stay on the island for at least one meal. Weather it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the food and experience was excellent. They have a full bar, various non-alcoholic drinks and great coffee, I especially liked their Mexican Coffee. My parents have been going hear for a long time and I never really liked it as a kid. But one day me and my mom decided to go have lunch there because I really wanted some Mexican food. The place was awesome it does not look like much from outside but once I walked in the place was full of people and the decorations wear very nice. When you go to order you can watch your food be made and you tell them exactly how you would like your food and they have so many different options to chose from. This is a very nice local restaurant and it is a big step away from Chipotle. read more

I have been coming here since they opened (I get breakfast there everyday I'm on the island), and it's the restaurant I most look forward to eating at. I try to get down to HHI at least twice a year and I eat here at least 4 or 5 days during the trip and the food never disappoints. The breakfast burritos are amazing and the iced coffees are delicious. My only complaint is I usually head home on Sunday afternoon and Java Burrito is closed on Sundays. Other than that, so much better than Chipotle. Keep up the great work!! read more

Great lunch experience, great vegan options, not always easy to find. You can easily put together a bowl or burrito without having to sacrifice taste or quality. Chips were fresh and salsa was very tasty, full of flavor and the right amount of heat for their hot salsa option. Their mild salsa was very tasty too. Java Burrito is heaven for Chipotle lovers. You will be amazed how high quality the ingredients are. For nearly the same price as Chipotle, it tastes fresher and better. The coffee is similar to Starbucks, with great taste but for less. My friends got a burrito with guac and a drink was only $14. My two tacos and a drink for only $8. As you can see, this restaurant has high quality ingredients for an affordable price. read more

Do yourself a favor and grab some of the peach salsa to accompany your meal. I always feel like I get way more food than I paid for and the prices are super reasonable. Their Mexican Mocha latte is delicious hot (haven't tried an iced one). If you're visiting the Island, you should hit this place up for lunch (just don't hold the door open if the line is long). read more

Very Very good but on the pricey side for what you are eating. Ordered the Speciality Mix and the cooks behind the counter walked me through the ordering process and made sure i got everything i wanted on top. The flavors were all wonderful and the staff was friendly. Next time i go i will be sure to take a client so I can expense it. read more

The workers were so friendly and helpful. I went for the first time a few months ago and they told me all I needed to know. I absolutely love how they try not to give straws out with coffee but offer them to people who need them. Save the turtles! Breakfast burrito was scrumptious. Coffee was outstanding! Always a great dinner! It consists of a burrito bar and a coffee/dessert bar, with helpful staff all around! It can get a bit busy at times, however that never changes the quality of the service. They had coconut cake (3.5/5) on offer, and I had to get a slice since I hadn't had coconut cake in almost 2 years. It was tasty and wasn't too sweet, but wasn't overly moist, which gave me the impression that it had been made several days prior, and resulted in it drying out a little. It was the only place I visited in Hilton Head over the course of several days that passed on a credit card surcharge to customers.
