The atmosphere is pretty calm, cozy, and quiet. The place is pretty cute and nice to hang out in. There's plenty of room, private WiFi, Uptown parking, and a decent amount of choices to choose from. Some of the downsizes are the prices, the flavor, and the lack of AC. It was so hot the day I came in, but there was no air conditioning. You can also sit outside on the side patio! The staff members are very friendly and accommodating. I recommend this place for groups, casual dates, quick coffee, and a quick bite. There's not super special about this place, but it has a very neighborhood feel, which I like. read more

Called ahead to ask the barista to recommend some beans. He recommended the Colombian single origin, I believe a more mild blend, though after trying I would probably select a more robust dark roast based on our household tastes. I guess I didn't know how much coffee beans are per pound using a quality local roaster. It was $22/lb, I ordered 2# and they ground for a drop coffee pot, so had a bit of sticker shock when I paid. With the purchase of beans they throw in a free coffee or cold brew, I tried the cold brew and it was nice and smooth. Would try again. As I called ahead I prepaid my order over the phone. They delivered the order to my car in the parking lot. I did see they have an online order site, decided to call since I wasn't sure what beans to order. Overall nice experience. Will be back to try the darker roast. read more

Coffee drinks are great and they have some unique options - I like their current special, Cinammon Cascara Latte and the Rose Cardamom Latte. However, you're charged $1 for soy milk, which I know is common among coffee shops, but still a bummer. I saw they had a vegan option for lunch so I decided to try it - "Fall Harvest Pinwheel" wrap. It was delicious, and served with a side of lentil soup which was also very good. However, after I was done I was still hungry, and it was $14! Together with my small soy latte it was around $21 total. So unfortunately not a regular thing. They also had the back room closed and had run out of seating, so I had to sit outside while it was cold. They turned on the heater, but, not ideal. read more

Java Central is yet another place in Westerville to get some coffee. It's in Uptown Westerville surrounded by nice little shops. The coffee is made fresh and tastes like it too. It also offers cold drinks and pastries. The inside is usually busy but it's a good place to relax and do work. I had the coffee with pumpkin spice and soy. It's about $3 for the regular size coffees which is comparable to how much the big coffee chain will charge you for that. The service is pretty fast for how busy they are. It usually takes a few minutes. They also have some pastries. It sometimes has a vegan date bar which is good. They usually are out of most of them. It probably will be crowded inside. This must mean it's good, and this is. It has a few tables outside but they are usually full. There's benches along the street if you can't find any other seats. If you like local coffee shops go to Java Central. It's in a nice area with lots of other local businesses. The overall cost is good because of the quality and service. read more

As much as I say I love certain places, Java Central is truly one of those for me. They make a great Chai and while I can't really speak on the coffee because in the many years I have been coming here I have never had a straight up roast, but their specialty drinks are delicious. I enjoy the Buckeye and they also have a lovely selection of teas and desserts. I usually get a slice of cake or a cinnamon roll which are always delicious. But the thing about Java Central that makes it special has nothing to do with any of this. The ambiance of of Java Central is bar none. There are lots of little separate rooms and corners with couches and artwork. It is the perfect place to catch up with a friend you havent seen in awhile or have some alone time to yourself. It's like they have invited you into their home to just relax and enjoy. read more

I'm moving to the area and can't wait for Java Central to be my daily coffee spot. They have a lot of great options and some fun speciality drinks. It looks small when you first walk in until you realize how much seating they have further in the back down a long hallway. The staff is super friendly and they have the cutest shirts (their shirts are actually how I discovered this coffee shop). They have some pastries, snacks, and beans you can take home. There are a few parking spots in front, but you're better off parking behind the building. read more

Very "central perk" feel. Cute location, lots of sitting room, great WiFi. The decorations are very outdated/antiquey, which is best to some people but I felt like it made it seem not as clean, some dusting was negated. I got a buckeye mocha with soy and a ham egg and cheese croissant, no cheese. Both were very yummy. The total was around $13, a little pricey but both of the things I got were great. My only other complaint was that there was multiple groups of people there socializing/meeting, which is fine but it makes it hard to focus on studying. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

It's definitely big on atmosphere and the baristas are very friendly. Nice place to chill for the afternoon and they even have patio heaters so you can hang outside in the chilly weather. Very nice! But I always feel like I pay too much for everything. I get a regular decaf coffee with oat milk (not a latte or special drink) and a toasted asiago bagel with cream cheese and suddenly I've dropped twelve bucks. The bagel takes almost fifteen minutes to toast and the place isn't even crowded. It comes out barely toasted and in no way resembles an asiago bagel (looks like a small plain bagel with none of the cheesy striations you see on the real McCoy.) I bought a sandwich once and ended up dropping around fifteen bucks and it was pretty paltry. Not even a side of chips. Is this place more for the uptown Westerville crowd? I'd love to visit again but I get more for my $ at Cbus cafes. Sorry! read more

Excellent ! Never found this quality in the burds before. Reminds me of the coffee shops I've visited in Columbus Indianapolis Detroit and Chicago. The espresso was made perfectly. Neither over nor under extracted. Served in porcelain NOT paper! The bean/blend wasnt too dark nor too light. A nice range to the pallet for flavors and body as well. A complete but not overwhelming drink. Ideal. Ok the cold brew selection! I tried all three. And each is a winner. It's a little pricey compared to other coffee shops, but I thought their latte tasted quite good. My only complaint was that it wasn't really hot. If I were to go back, I'd request my drink extra hot. Overall, a good place to try especially if you're able to find a seat inside. The inside has a nice, cozy vibe. It got rather busy on a Sunday afternoon, but I was able to find somewhere to sit luckily. read more

Love this place! Anything to help support local businesses - I'm all over it. It's my go-to place when hosting work meetings over coffee. Amazing choices. Great service. Homey feel without the corporate noise and long lines - efficiency is almost everything! Easy to get to with plenty of parking on the street and in pockets of Westerville. Ironically enough, heading back Thursday AM for another work meeting. And I'm on vacation this week - hardly feels like work yet when I don't want to go into the office on a week off - I suggested we come here. :) See you Thursday AM! read more

How haven't I reviewed here yet?? My favorite go-to is their grasshopper mocha with soy or oat mylk. I came here this week to see their new seasonal drinks and tried their cardamom rose latte. One word response? Perfection. Nice for a cold day to take the chill off and just fragrant enough to not be overpowering. I sipped it for hours and never got tired of it. I plan to go back and try their brown sugar maple latte very, very soon. I also love that they carry Pattycake Bakery as well as their own baked goods. read more

Not sure why this cute little gem in Westerville Ohio wasn't on the original Columbus coffee trail, but it really should have been! My husband and I decided to go for coffee on Saturday morning and yeah we could've went to Starbucks but we wanted to try something different. A simple search for "best coffee near me" and Java central popped up. Pastries, cheesecake, breakfast sandwiches, and oh yeah, they actually serve some pretty darn good coffee as well! It's a nice, quaint, Java experience in small town central Ohio. So, if you are ever in the Westerville area, please by all means do yourself a favor and stop by Java central. I recently stumbled upon this place while taking a stroll in uptown Westerville after dinner. We had the great pleasure of being there on an open mic night. What a treat to hear all of the local talent on stage. A number of musically gifted young people sang, played guitar, and piano. It was such a fun and relaxing way to spend a Friday night. As an added bonus, the espresso was terrific and they have a variety of baked treats to go with your coffee. I am looking forward to returning. read more

used to really like this place but I came back for the first time in a while and got charged 10.15$ for a latte with a flavor which was quite the price hike. while I was sitting in the cafe I counted 7 flies on the "stage" area at one time and while it was not my experience but my friend told me the last time she was here that she saw two roaches outside so there might be a bug problem. so sad because the environment is perfect. read more

This place is really cute, and looks like a great local shop if you live in the area. (It reminds me of Donkey Coffee in Athens, which is a compliment.) Their basic coffee is good, service is fast and really friendly, and the outside seating a little away from the main road is a nice touch. Abysmal. Ordered an iced Americano, was handed a hot Americano, I told them I ordered iced, they checked the system and said OH, you're right. And then clearly just poured the hot drink over a bit of ice.. It was so watered down it looked like iced tea. Overpriced and lack of care. Never going here again. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful evening here on a Friday night where we sat and enjoyed an open mic night and our delicious coffee drinks. For me, it was the best cup of mocha I've ever had. This place has a very warm and inviting atmosphere made even more so by the extremely friendly and welcoming staff. My first time there and it felt like I was visiting old friends. We got to meet the owner as he was setting up in the room where they have the open mic and he is a very nice guy - he seems to really love his establishment and it seems like he puts a lot of effort into make it a great place to hang out. We will definitely be back. read more

Quickly became my favorite coffee shoppe in towns. Great ambiance, a plethora of comfy seating options both inside and out, very nice art throughout which is awailable for purchase. Live music Friday and Saturday evenings, reasonable pricing and some really great caffeinated beverages. I've sampled a really nice mango smoothie which was tasty, but the crown beverage which keeps me driving from Gahanna to Westerville to sit and sip whilst reading is the Apple Chai. Dear lord, is it tasty. I've been told it smells like dessert, and is divine. If you wanna make a day of it, park, visit the wonderful Chocolaterie Stam, Java Central, Farmers Market and grab a bite at Pasquales. You can even finish with drinks at Jimmy Vs! read more

This place is really adorable! Separate rooms with colorful paintings makes it a nice environment to come enjoy a quiet conversation or read/study. There are game boards that people can play. The place is decorated with tables couches, chairs that all have their own character. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I can't say much about the coffee. Tea is just stash tea bags, but I'm happy with that. Only two complaints-- depending on the time and day, it can be loud if there are large groups here playing games or having a book club. Also as I'm sitting here, the internet is having trouble with my mac, so not good if you're here to work on research projects (or watch hulu!). I think I'll come back soon to check out the live music they have on Saturdays. Overall, it's a very nice enjoyable place with minimal noise level (compare to most coffee shops around Columbus). read more

My friend and I were looking for a place where we could work and hang out. This is my new favorite place. The people are so friendly and welcoming! So laid back and cute and cozy. I had a latte and a nitro tea - both were delicious. I also had a chicken salad wrap and a KILLER vanilla bean scone. I learned that their baked goods are made in small bakeries, and that in fact the scone I ate was baked in someone's home. I love that. The environment is so comfortable I feel like I'm at an aunt's or grandmother's house - in a good way. Support this business! read more

This review may or may not be helpful in that I usually come here for their open mic and music events so I can't speak to their menu, except that I have had their white mocha which was delicious. The open mic event is held every Friday in a quaint room with a piano and a few tables in the back with beautiful artwork on the walls. People perform from 7-10 pm, and arrive by 6 to sign up for the 15 minute slots. What I love about this open mic is that the audience is so welcoming, and the space is intimate so there's no pressure when you're up there. It's definitely something worth checking out, even if you're going there just to listen. read more

The coffee cake was bake to perfection moist and the right amount of cinnamon. Would definitely come back if I was coming back through Ohio ! Highly recommend

The staff is always really friendly and I enjoy asking for their recommendations of the fresh sandwiches. I only had a problem one time with fruit that looked old, but their sandwiches are always A+ and unique. It's basically three different environments to enjoy while still getting the same great coffee. The coffee itself is high quality, you can buy bags of their beans on site, and the entire experience feels like there's real thought behind it. It's hard to beat this place.
