Two visits, both for muffins, for which this place is known. They're big, that's for sure, and priced accordingly at $5. Short version: Size isn't everything. The flavors just aren't compelling enough or with any special touches to justify the $5 beyond size. They do heat the muffins up before bagging/boxing, so you get a warm one, but not necessarily a fresh one. What might be pillowy and pancakey one day might be just a warm version of dry another day. Flavors are okay. Not a bad muffin by any means; just ordinary aside from size. Nice touch: Many muffin flavors to choose from. Drawback: Slow moving line. Nice touch: They have muffin samples. Every once in a while I visit friends in this area. Yes, the muffins are pretty good. But the line and service could not be more inefficient. It's like they've devised ways to make it longer than it needs to be. There might be 3/4 people in front of you ordering a coffee and muffin and you still won't get out of there for 20 minutes. First thing noticed is the friendly staff there. They are so busy but take time to greet you positively. The coffee is unbelievably good, the breakfast sandwiches are awesome. No real complaints- didn't love the coffee but I also took a chance trying the flavor of the day (snickerdoodle) so maybe it was just that flavor isn't for me. The muffins were HUGE as stated in other reviews. Breakfast sandwich was also large and my partner enjoyed a lot. Muffins were nice and fluffy inside. We live nearby and would go when my kids were little and were so sad when they closed. We thought they would not be back but were so happy when they reopened. I've been a Javas Brewin' Stan since the 2000s - through their close down, through the Is Javas Open Yet Twitter account postings noting that they indeed were not. Javas is great and their new and improved space now has a a bathroom - FDA Approved! Muffins are top tier, warm, XL sized. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent (appears to be a microwaved fluffed egg on those bad boys). BUT their coffee is what gets the people. They now have over 20+ favorites, and they always ask if the color of your coffee is okay - mmm mmm. Today I had a weird experience in terms of whoever the man in the man was (assuming the Cook and/or owner) was screaming at the lovely, lovely staff that it'd be another ten effin' minutes for bacon. Chill man - you're people are doing good stuff. If I knew it was the owner screaming I'd doc a star but I'm not sure who this rude human was- be nice to your staff plz. read more

Very busy local coffee shop and they worked quick to get my order. they only had one kind of muffin. coffee cake so i got that and a small coffee to go. not a place to sit down and have a chat but more like a place to take things to go. coffee is great. the muffin amazing. hot steaming moist and crusty at the same time. giant. gives cash discount. so happy i went here instead of random dunkin. read more

The muffins are great, if they actually have the flavors you want, which seems pretty rare, even first thing in the morning. Also be prepared to spend at least a half an hour there in the morning if you wanted to order a breakfast sandwich (20 minutes to get through the line to order it, 10 minutes for them to actually make it). Additionally my wife ordered a dozen muffins for teacher appreciation week, to be picked up at a specific time. Not only were the muffins not ready to be picked up, they weren't even finished baking! Before they closed down for a few years (which began pre-Covid) they were much better but at this point it's not worth my time to go there anymore. read more

This place is fantastic. Forget the stupid comments about the lines, the ambience, the political asides referring to the blue collar clientele. Great muffins! The blueberry definitely have fewer berries than they used to but they're still very tasty. This time around we got blueberry, chocolate chip, pistachio, and apple - everyone was very happy with their muffin of choice. And, of course, the muffins are still HUGE. Solid coffee. Hands down the best bagels and muffins I've ever had. I love the Jalapeño bagel so much that that I haven't even tried the other ones yet. The muffins are to die for. Huge, fluffy and fresh. They usually sell out soon. The flavors I've tried till now are Chocolate chip, Pistachio, Raspberry, Raspberry chocolate chip and Cranberry. My favorite ones are Chocolate chip and Pistachio. So, I live in Salem and I traveled all the way to Billerica to get some apple muffins from this place. These are no ordinary muffins mind you. Rather than just being apple flavored dough, they have the consistency of grandma's apple cake. The dough is soft, and has small but very noticeable pieces of apple inside. Muffins themselves are huge, and very reasonably priced. Be warned, they should be saved for an every now and again thing. If you have these amazing muffins every day, you shall get used to them, and they will just be "eh." The location is not the prettiest... but pretty locations cost more money! Food is what matters, and the bakery does not stop working, They are always putting out fresh stuff, rather than baking overnight/in the morning, and then serving all day. read more

Definitely a huge fan of Java's Brewin'! Delicious coffee, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches to beat! I've visited this place several times on my way to work. It's become a regular stop for me on my route during the summertime! Coffee - I love their Hawaiian Chocolate iced coffee! It's like nothing I've ever had before and very strong and flavorful. The girls working behind the counter will often ask if the color looks good to you, which I think is great. I've never had someone ask me that before, but I think it's really smart if you're not at a place where you can add your own cream. Muffins - Largest muffins I've ever seen and they're made in-house! I know some people are commenting that when they come all the muffins are sold out, but I've never experienced this. I usually visit around 9am and there are plenty of muffins in the case. Understandably the flavor you are hoping for might be sold out, but there are several others to choose from and they are constantly at work making more in the kitchen. Their fruit flavored muffins are my favorite! I love the Sweet and Sour (Cranberry/Blueberry), Chocolate Raspberry, and traditional Blueberry. Pistachio is also a really good one to get (bear in mind it's a neon green color which might be unsettling for some). The muffins are a little pricey at $2.75 each, but I think it's definitely worth it. You can also get 1/2 dozen (6) for $13.99 or a dozen (12) for $26.99. Sandwiches - You hear a lot about their muffins here, but we should really be talking about their breakfast sandwiches! It was honestly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! I ordered a sausage, bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant ($5.25). It was so big that I was full until almost dinnertime! I was given a very generous portion of perfectly scrambled eggs with melt in your mouth cheese on top. The bacon and sausage were cooked well too. I finished every last bite despite a very full belly. Service & Decor - The girls who are working have always been very friendly and helpful. The decor could use some improvement. It looks a little run-down, but I come for the food and drinks to go so I really don't mind it too much. Tip: They have a coffee card! Java's certainly not brewin' here... Not only were we kept in the dark for almost *three* years, but on Opening Day, there was a Closed sign on the door. Their website and Facebook pages were again uninformative as to the state of their business. You would think a business with such a devoted following would be a little more forthcoming with its customers. And who orders muffins 24 hours *in advance*... and *without* coffee? I dunno, if they had sunk at least some of the money into their PR, website and Facebook page that they seem to have with their interior, they could be smelling like roses, instead of burned coffee. I really like Java's Brewin'. I pass by it every morning heading to work. I try to visit at least once a week. It's a nice change from the usual Dunkin's or Starbucks; and it's always nice to support a local business. The employees are super friendly and thorough with your order. It's not very pretty inside but that doesn't matter because their coffee and food is great. Their breakfast sandwiches and muffins are not only delicious but HUGE! I usually get a sandwich when I'm feeling really hungry and I always split their muffins into two servings. Their muffins are fresh and warm in the morning. My favorite is the Banana Chocolate Muffin; just perfect! Their coffee is good too and they always make sure it's dark or light enough for you. I find when I get a large iced coffee, it tends to be watered down. I guess some of the employees haven't figured out the right ice and coffee ratio. But that's okay because their medium is the perfect serving. They have a variety of flavors; Hazelnut is my favorite.
