Delicious authentic street tacos. I have never been disappointed with the quality of the food. I encourage you to give them a try.

This was a quaint little shop in Farmington. After reading reviews we decided to give it a shot, as we were visiting from out of town. We ordered asada and pastor street tacos. Decided to try their chips and salsa. The price was a little steep for what we got. $5.50 for a partial lunch bag of chips and the smallest salsa serving I have ever seen in any restaurant was shocking. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about. We have eaten at better taco shops all around Utah. The ambience was blah compared to other Mexican restaurants. The tables weren't clean, we went as they opened, meaning they don't clean very well. Salt shakers had kernels of rice in them, but no salt. I don't know if we would eat here again. read more

Chonchis is still the best tacos I've found in Davis county. They no longer do the flavored pistachios and their prices have gone up, $3.25 tacos, $5 casa barrias. And they'll no longer put cheese on chips when requested. They still make a great taco. Customer service doesn't feel as accommodating as it used to be. But the food will keep me coming back for now. As long as they don't raise their prices anymore and I'd come more often if they were more affordable. The other taco shop I go to regularly has tacos for $2.50. read more

Horrible customer service! Placed an order that was supposed to only take 15 mins. I arrived 20 mins after I placed the order. Waited for over 30 just to be told my order had been taken. The guy was smiling like it was a joke. I had checked in with the same gentleman when I first arrived at the store. He said it would be only another 10 mins. So he knew what I looked like. They hadn't even bothered to remake the meal. Just let me sit there waiting for food that wasn't even coming. Never once did he call my order. This was supposed to be my baby's dinner. Absolutely smashing. A classic. Melt in your mouth meat. I found this tucked in a strip mall near my office in Farmington, which if you visit this city often you know there is a serious lack for any good food. I cannot wait to go back to Chonchi's. Their service is a little slow and I had to remind them of a few things they forgot so don't come here in a rush but all worth the magic that comes out and into your mouth. Celebrated Latinx Heritage month by taking myself on a taco date! I've been subliminally messaged all week with Barria Tacos on my Instagram feed, so when I saw that this restaurant was well known for theirs I had to give in! Delicious and thick taco shells and melted cheese graced my plate, complete with the juicy meat and toppings. I even got a side of the stew to dip the tacos in. All in all, a delightful meal. Their were only a few things I'd suggest they adapt: better limes, mine didn't have enough juice to add. Lots more napkins, my tacos definitely stained my hands. And I would've like a little bit more clear menu--I didn't know exactly what I was getting with my tacos and how much I'd be spending. I spent a little over $7 for two tacos, which is reasonable but I thought it would be closer to $5 with the way everything was written on their menu board. Overall, I was thrilled to see a yummy place in a nice area. Fun location, right next to Smith's, and easy to get to from the interstate. I rarely ever leave a review!! This warranted a review. The quesobirria tacos here were a solid 9.5. They needed no sauce. Still tried all the wonderful sauces and the toppings they had. The consomé was just right. If you have no had a quesobirria taco before.... Do yourself a favor and order one. They're closed mondays and sundays. We live 30 min from here and go out of our way to satiate the craving. $3.49 as I write this for one. You'd be hard pressed to eat 3. Portion sizes are so good! I've put this update off for a while, as I've probably had Chonchis more than 10 times since my last review. They're pretty much the only option for decent taqueria style Mexican food in the area. I think the lack of competition allows them to keep prices slightly higher while not caring as much about quality. They were MUCH better when they first opened, but their restaurant has expanded in size and they always appear busy so most people in the area with low Mexican food standards appear to still be enjoying their food more than me. Their carne asada burrito with guacamole and sour cream on DoorDash is $10.99. That makes it more expensive than pretty much any carne asada burrito that'd you get in San Diego, while also being smaller, and not as good. Today I got half way through my carne asada burrito and still hadn't had any actual carne asada in my bite (see picture). Their birria is not very flavorful, and neither is their consume. I find myself driving all the way to SLC or WVC because the quesabirria down there is so much better. The vampiros can be good, but for some reason they're never made the same way. Sometimes they have beans, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the tortilla is super crispy and is like a tostada, other times it isn't and you can eat it like a taco. Kids are usually working there and often forget things. My consume is almost always missing when I pick up a quesabirria order. read more

I am always excited when a local restaurant is busy - glad to see that people are back out and a good sign that the food is delicious. This small taco shop was bustling and were so helpful when I asked for recommendations. The Quesabirria was one of their specialities - kind of a combination quesadilla and taco. I loved the flavor but think it would have much better had we eaten at restaurant versus take out although the dipping sauce made up for some of the less then fresh flavor. The Carnitas and Carne Asada tacos were juicy snd flavorful. I feel bad for the employee shortage but giving four stars because we had to wait 30+ minutes for our tacos. Often the best places are behind a simple storefront in a shopping center. True this for Chonchis. Read the hand written chalk board. Get on your phone if you aren't familiar with something. The chips were freshly fried and seasoned! The burrito with pollo was TOO Much to eat at one sitting. We also tried the asada tacos, rice, beans, guacamole. And a special corn off the cob treat finished the meal......EXCEPT for the Rice Pudding, and a flan to go! The family who took care of us were great. The quesabirria tacos dipped in consommé are definitely the best thing here! My sister had the asada tacos and the meat was flavorless. My mulita and quesabirriatacos were a hit tho and the consommé was so full of flavor. I would come back again based on the birria alone. read more

If you are seeking great street tacos and love to support local... Chonchis needs to be added to your list. Tucked away, in a small strip mall, next to Smith, you will find this great little place. We stopped in yesterday for the first time and I am so glad we did. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a friendly face. We took some time to review the menu, written on a chalk wall. Such great items to choose from and the prices were extremely fair. (I already have made mental note of what I will order on our next visit.) I decided to go with the El Pastor Taco and Carnitas Taco. My wife loves Birria Tacos, so when she saw they had them... she was sold. After placing our order, we found a table and waited for our order to be completed. As we listened to their music playing and relaxed, I couldn't help but mention how much this taco shop reminded me of our many local favorites from our home city of Phoenix. It made me feel like I was back home. Anyway, our food was brought over to our table and we were so impressed with the portions. My street tacos were served with slices of lime and radishes. And the flavors!!!! AWESOME. They know how to prepare the meats I selected. I quickly inhaled everything on my plate. My wife really enjoyed her Birria tacos as well. Gonna start off by saying the food is bomb. I totally get accidents happen. I've worked in the food industry a long time. I think the hours may have recently changed.. but I placed an online pickup order 40 min before close. Showed up 15 min before close to pick up and the doors were locked. I could see two guys inside cleaning things up and I tried to wave them down, and I tried to call twice and I just watched them ignore the phone and also ignore me while my order had been paid. Turns out they never got the ticket, so they made it in 20 min. I wouldn't want to order minutes before anywhere because that's rude, hence the online order.
