The service was very bad. No system in place to serve based on who got seated first. Waiter very inexperienced and not trained on customer service. Never got chips for our queso we ordered, had to ask twice. Water refills were non existent. Not the waiter's fault. This is a manager's fault. I believe the manager needs to be more hands on on waiter customer interaction. We will check on Yelp as to whether this problem has been addressed with your managers before we revisit. read more

So my wife and I could not wait to try Javi's once we found out about it. We are new to Tyler. Before dinner even began, the waiter told my wife she was too drunk and that he could not serve her. My wife had not even finished one drink. She is just bubbly and nice and doesn't realize how loud she can be. This upset my wife to the point that she was in tears for being accused at dinner for being drunk. She was embarrassed in front of people by a server. We decided to order food and not long after, the waiter comes back to ask if my wife would like another drink and to apologize for the accusation, but if she was drunk, why would she be offered another drink. He said it happens a lot and it's company policy not to serve anyone who is drunk. Understandable, if she was actually drunk. Company policy to accuse a customer for something they obviously were not. Very unprofessional. We get our food and of course some of the items were good. Cheese enchilada was awesome. Queso ok. Taco was ok. Carne Asada was not worth the $17+ that I paid. Ordered it medium and it came very well done. We spent $90 for food and tip. (yes, we still tipped) Our night was completely ruined by the way Javi's waitstaff treated my wife. Hopefully, Javi's will make this right. Great atmosphere but won't be back if this is how they treat customers. read more

I went to a new restaurant in Tyler while at a horse show. It was a beautiful place on a little lake on the south side of town. The atmosphere was sophisticated and elegant. The staff was top notch and the service was excellent. The owner even stopped by the table to make sure everything was up to his standards which was obviously very high. We started with a delicious shrimp cocktail and queso blanco. For dinner i had the carne asada which was also scrumptious. The entire experience and atmosphere was unsurpassed in any city. Being from Dallas, I did not expect such a sophisticated dining experience in a smaller town but was overwhelmed at the outstanding food, service and experience. My wife and I had dinner here last night and we were completely satisfied by the whole experience. Great drinks that came out quick from the bar, even on a packed Saturday night, excellent service from our waiter (Ramiro I think), and delicious food. The service here was amazing. I was skeptical at first because of some previous reviews I saw, but they did not disappoint. The size and environment was roomy. There was plenty of elbow room. The food was really great as well. We started with chips and salsa like everywhere else. They brought out 2 different salsas, one was a half green and half red salsa, and a fire roasted tomato salsa. The green salsa and the fire roasted was a amazing. The red salsa was similar to a lot around town. We got an order of the quest blanco and I must same I am quite the quest snob. It. Was. Amazing! Wow! I am truly blown away. I had somehow, tragically, missed on going to Javi's for years even though I pass by this place multiple times a week. That's a shame. My family and I dined at Javis tonight for my dad birthday. They were busy for a Monday or just limited parking. No valet. I had to park a little far and walk quite a distance. Luckily my older parents parking closer. The server taking care of us was polite, patient and professional. Those qualities are a must for me. So kudos to her. No complains regarding our service. I know the job is not easy. The ambiance was 3 out of 5. Modern feel, modestly upscale. It was pretty casual. The food I would say was a 2.5 out of 5. My dad enjoyed his meal though. He orders the Emma's Chicken (don't know if that is the exact name). My mom and I both got the Salmon and vegetables. I asked prior to ordering if the salmon was Atlantic and our server advised no. It definitely was Atlantic. I buy fresh salmon from market twice a week and know the difference between Atlantic and Sockeye. Atlantic is not quality and I try to avoid it. No harm I at least tried a very small portion but highly disliked it. I couldn't take a second bite and asked to send it back, politely of course. I worked in restaurant for years so I know people can be rude. If I would have known it was Atlantic I wouldn't have ordered it. My mom did not enjoy her food either but felt bad about sending it back so chose not to. I kindly asked to replace my salmon with fajitas. The fajitas were mildly warm and had very little flavor. I thought fajitas were supposed to sizzle. I was disappointed but wouldn't dare sending back a second plate. My nephew is vegan and the options were limited but I get it. Not many restaurants offer many vegan options. He ended up ordering the veggie fajitas. The fajitas looked like more bell pepper and onions than anything else. He barely touched it. It's not very costly and can honestly say we had a good time. Overall experience I would say it 3/5. read more

So last night we had dinner with family and, went and tried Javi's. To say the least it was not a great experience being a brand new restaurant I expected more.  When arriving the parking was the first thing we noticed to be bad but it can be over looked.   So we go in and have a party of 8 we finally got sat and, it took almost 30-45 mins to get drinks on the table.  By this time still no chips and salsa and a waiter who looked over worked and tired.  Thinking to myself man does my staff look like that and yes I'm a low volume store they shouldn't but at times do  because they don't make the money they could make at a higher volume store so they work way more then most.  But to say the least customer service should still be the first thing any store should have.  So then the waiter comes over another 20 mins later and we aren't looking at time but again we are noticing the long periods.  He looks at us and says oh they said you guys had already ordered well first and for most how did we do that with you being our waiter and all he could say is what can I get you.   We all placed our order by this time all the tables around us have stated to leave and food comes out one plate at a time and not all together which was odd to me.  Mind you my drink never stayed full not one time and the managers keep walking around never once greeting tables nor asking to see if we needed refills which was just strange to me.  She finally asked me if I needed a refill I said yes ma'am that would be great she rolled her eyes and said okay and then another sever comes by asking did I need a refill got it done and she came back and rudely told me did I get what I needed I replied yes ma'am.   That part wasn't the best part because you know we had just been discussing bathrooms and let me tell you I walked into the ladies room to finish the visit and, it was nasty pee on the seats in all stalls , toilet paper rolls empty in all stalls , and paper and trash every we're.  This visit was one that I was showed that customer service, bathroom etiquette, or just all around service wasn't their and makes me want to work harder as a restaurant manager myself to make sure I never give a review like I'm giving now. read more

Pretty impressed, arrived around 5:45 place was packed but we waited under 25 mins to be seated. My adult beverage was called Size 00, a must have if you prefer skinny alternative. It was light and refreshing. Our entrees were Robertos burritos, Javi's Tacos, Chicken fajitas and a child's taco plate. Everyone loved their selections and the green rice that came with Javi's Tacos was excellent. Did I mention the fresh hot complimentary chips and salsas. Fabulous!! Wonderful server Briana was on the ball and always smiling even though they were slammed with customers. We were also greeted by Manager Angie who was helping out with running food orders, filling water glasses and making sure everyone was enjoying their experience. Such a wonderful addition to Tyler but especially this area of town. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere with a fantastic staff that cannot wait to serve you. It's newly opened. Many times people forget that the staff is still working out kinks and learning the ropes. In which case, if you've gone and experienced anything less than stellar believe me that will not be the case when you return again. We've been many times since they opened and the staff is already used to our preferences! Love a big city feel but with small town hospitality. Mico margarita is always on point, as is the jalapeño. I was interviewing in the area (I live out of state) and wanted to try some Tex-Mex. I read the reviews on Javi's and decided to give it a try. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by the bartender. The margaritas are good but the chips and salsa are out of this world! The woman next to me ordered the beef nachos, and they looked so good I ordered my own. Prices are extremely reasonable. The atmosphere was very relaxed and customers at the bar were friendly and enjoying themselves. The restaurant itself looks very upscale, but again prices are very good, especially given the quality. read more

Ordered a Chile relleno, and the steak that it's so beautifully topped with was SO tender and juicy. Yum! Flour tortillas are just like my MIL's! Went there on a Saturday for lunch. Wanted outside seating and was told there was a wait. However, there were a few open tables and so we asked again and we were told due to Covid sociaL distancing we could not sit out there till a table came available. (The real story from the manager was they were short servers). So, next option because we were hungry was to sit in the bar area. Plenty of seats and we asked and again told no that they needed space between tables for social distancing. but we could sit right at bar. Of course no social distancing at bar, and within minutes we noticed all tables were filled. Ummm! What just happened. Service was horrible even at bar at first. We were first one's at the bar but received no acknowledgement till I spoke up after other people sat down and were served. I get it that times are tough and it is hard finding employees but management needs to step it up and be present and guiding your employees & making sure that service is up to par especially in a newer establishment like Javi's. I will say that the inside dining I had on a previous occasion the service was stellar. Hopefully the lobby greeters get better at staying consistent if they do have the "social distance going on between tables" & bar service learns to just acknowledge someone as soon as they sit down right in front of you at the bar. I went to lunch with friends, and we were all impressed with the new look of the previously on restaurant. The staff was so friendly and our waitress was very attentive. We all ordered margaritas that were bland and seemed to have almost no tequila. Next time I will order a beer. The queso was very creamy and yummy. My enchilada was the same as most Mexican restaurants, and I would order it again. Both of my friend had the soft tortillas that they enjoyed. I was holding off on my review because Javi's has a large room for private parties that a group of 40 or so that my hubby and I are a part of booked it for the end of March. Javi's has become one of my family's favorite restaurants since moving to Tyler over the summer. The ambiance is upscale, and the service has always been adequate. The Carne Asada "Sunrise Style" is the best thing on the menu IMO, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried there. Ambience is gorgeous, if they don't have the music blaring. Hostesses are rarely where they need to be and surly at best if you happen to have a request for a dining area choice. I've heard them say they are understaffed numerous times since the Plandemic hit. Apparently that's their norm now. Many young , inexperienced, wait staff who don't know the menu. Train your people!!!! And don't share your staffing problems with the patrons. Their food is good, especially the Roasted Poblano Pepper and guacamole. Jalapeño margarita is delicious. I've been here 3 times and not by choice, always with a group. Every time, the food was lame and the service stunk. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Been to Javi's a couple of prior times and always enjoyed it. But this Saturday before Mother's Day was an absolute disaster ! Service was horrible, food was way off from normal, and waitresses could not do anything right. Way under staffed could be part of the problem ?? Took over 45 minutes to get drinks. Waitress says bartender way behind, then maybe they lost our ticket. Meals showed up same time as drinks. Drinks were wrong ! Food was not even warm, probably sitting in window waiting for some one to bring out. Just a terrible experience ! Not sure if we will ever return. If we do, not anytime soon. Let's hope it was just an off weekend as this is a beautiful restaurant ! read more
