Love Javis!! It's a nice atmosphere with great food at great prices! I get the carne asada plate and it's delicious

First of all, Javi's is in a great location. Their outdoor seating area is the nicest in Tyler in my opinion. They have heaters running outdoors if it is cold and ceiling fans outdoor when it's hot. They are nestled on a pond with fish and turtles that people can feed. Favorite dishes: chicken and rice soup, sunrise enchiladas and the Tex mex platter. The carpet indoors smells awful . I will not eat indoors there. Their curbside ordering is pretty bad. They usually don't answer the phone. Last time I went to pick up my curbside order and one of the workers was eating my the cash register.. I had to ask 3 different workers to please give me my order.. read more

The food is good but the restaurant smells SO BAD. We've been a handful of times hoping the smell is timing but every time it's so awful. The cocktail area isn't as bad. I believe it's the carpet in the dining area. It smells like a dirty bathroom. Sour and just gross. We brought family here and without saying anything about the smell to them, they also complained of the smell. Highly recommend they replace the carpet with something that can be cleaned thoroughly. When visiting Tyler, we have discovered Javi's. Excellent, fresh food and the patio overlooking the water is dog-friendly. Everything we have had is delicious and fresh. We order the chicken breast with vegies seasoning-free for the dogs and they have been quite accommodating. The usual and unusual margaritas are perfection! Service is always friendly. read more

This place has authentic Mexican atmosphere and great food. My wife and I both had the Tex Mex plate! Their taco meat is great. They give you 2 types of salsa with your chips and they were both great! Their service was a little slow tonight but I understand that happens sometimes. Definitely go check them out. read more

Ummmm......so NOT IMPRESSED!!! Super slow service, so if you want something from the bar, order all at once, otherwise it'll be until you're done eatting before you can get a 2nd drink. Went here 2nd time in a week. Great Margaritas. The first time we sat near the bar looking out over the patio, had a very attentive server who was very nice even though she had multiple tables to deal with. Food was good, had tacos and my partner had shrimp brochettes. Because of the first visit went again. Got seated right by the kitchen entrance. Waitress said she had been there 2 years. Sat for 5 minutes before she came to our table, took nearly 10 minutes to get our drinks. Then we had to ask someone else to find her so we could order the meal. Margaritas still good, but it was pretty apparent that this server did not understand the basics of serving. Only had 2 tables that we could see and was not attentive. Do not order seafood enchiladas, so much cream sauce it drowns out any flavor from the seafood inside. First time in ages that I have not left at least 20% tip. read more

I'this place is always so busy but I came here for the first time a few weeks back, I'd recommend getting on the waitlist ahead of the time. The food here is absolutely delicious, my bf got the Carne Asada and it was good just a little sweet for my taste. But I got Saul's chicken and it was absolutely amazing and the queso that comes with it sooo freakin good. And their drinks are so good. It was beautiful outside, just a bit hot at the time. Every time I've been the food is excellent. The restaurant is insanely nice, you'd think it would be expensive but it's pretty decently priced! The workers are nice and it's an all in all good experience. read more

Service was great. Although they sat us in a tiny table for 6 people. Soo that was very uncomfortable and our plates did not fit. Chips and salsa are good but I'm sure they use store bought salsa(red/green mix) food was pretty tasty. Would come again but this time I would ask for a bigger table. read more

After sharing negative review some months ago and got a nice response from owner, we went today 5/19/2024 for early (4:00) dinner. Never again! The bartender was awesome while we waited for hostess which went fast, but once seated we were ignored for 15 minutes. Insult to injury the manager walked by, chatted with a table for the 15 minutes and chased a balloon . We left after no service, manager followed us to parking lot and offered another gift card. Had a graduation party of 50 for my daughter here. Food and service was amazing. We rented the tree house and it was absolutely amazing with great view and outdoor. The only negative is that they make u go through a xeriscape entrance which maybe difficult for the older people in our group although they made it. Hopefully they will get it worked out. read more

Our first time at Javi's was amazing. We were celebrating a birthday and although the restaurant was very busy our needs were met totally. The food was delicious and gave us a modern perspective on Mexican food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will certainly make it a destination when we're dining in Tyler. I have always been a Javi's fan, but the last several visits have been really disappointing. This week I sat at a table for 20 minutes without anyone checking on me. Then I asked to move tables. Again, a long wait before anyone checked on me. If I had not been there for a business meeting I would have left. I ordered a margarita when my food was delivered and the waiter never brought it. Whipped papas were very dry and seemed like they were scraped out of a pan. We usually love this place and haven't been in a bit but this time was not that well. The Tres leches cake was great though. My husband always gets the carne asada and he also said it tasted different than previous experiences here. The beef javis tacos are not bad just weren't my typical order I switched up. read more

Giving this review because we were prompted to upon reservation. I wish I could write a good review. I love the food and my kids love the fish. Set a reservation and still had to wait. Brought my kids, ordered when we sat and still had to get my food boxed up because it took over an hour to get our food. Sad to leave here without eating but kids can only sit for so long. read more

Just had delivery from Javis. Nothing says "we really don't care" like ice cold soggy tacos that taste and look like they've been in the walk in since early last week. Everyone has a bad day, and my experience with Javi's was very bad today. The restaurant tries too-hard to be fancy. The cup-shaped seats are uncomfortable for larger people. The food is simple and bland, but is elegantly-plated. The price is very-affordable. The menu is on one page and the other side is alcoholic-beverages. The food has no salt or pepper (it has salt and pepper grinders on the table). The chips seemed like regular tortillas fried in oil and served in stingy amounts (small silver bowl of chips and a couple small bowls of salsa for 2-people). The salsa tasted like unseasoned diced-tomatoes. Service was good, but the waiter asked if there was anything he could get too-much. The Cheese Enchiladas was too-spicy. We called to check on this locale and made reservations (which I recommend doing as they were busy for dinner). About 30 minutes prior to our reservation time I received a text confirmation request. We entered and were promptly seated as they had our reservation. This locale is really one of the nicest places I have seen for Tex mex food with a great atmosphere. If I could give no stars I would. We came for a Friends Birthday Dinner and were treated rudely by the hostess and manager. We were told "It wasn't their fault they were busy" and the "Kitchen is behind". Being a manager I know that giving excuses on top of being rude doesn't go well with customers. If you can't handle a large group you should not agree to take their name and have them wait hours to be treated badly. You should look at staffing better and teaching Customer Service. We've had several events and dinners but now I don't plan to return and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

The food was great as always at Javi's. The service was not that great and it took way to long to get our food. We always waited 10 minutes to even get a waiter to our table. The manager/supervisor came over and offered a free appetizer for our wait which was very kind. The atmosphere was very positive as always and is happy and it's always clean. A perfect evening. It was our first visit. We sat on the porch next to the man-made pond and fountain. The food was outstanding. We both had vegetarian dishes (though we're not vegetarians); my wife had the veggie fajitas and I had the vegetarian tacos. The fajitas were good, but the tacos were outstanding. Only OK. Here's why: My brother and I arrived at 10:40am, ten minutes after opening time. As far as I could tell we were their first customers. I ordered the four cheese enchilada dinner with refried beans instead of the regular beans. They were not refried when I got them. I also had ordered a single taco al carbon on a flour tortilla. They decided to bring me one on a corn tortilla. I ate it. The meat had no al carbon taste to it, meaning the meat was tasteless. The queso we ordered as an appetizer was delicious as were my enchiladas and rice. The service was above average with the exception that the server did not notice the flour-corn tortilla booboo that maybe the expediter was responsible for, if they have one. My brother thoroughly enjoyed his meal and wants to return to try out how well they perform on a busy night. I'll review that experience when we go again. read more

I have been here five or six times now and the service has always been great. The food is usually very good but tonight was the exception. I ordered the Ernie's chicken and the menu should have read chicken jerky. It is very obvious that they cook the chicken yesterday or this morning and then warmed it this evening. This is not the way to cook or serve your customers. If you want to represent yourself as a good restaurant. I had to request some queso or sauce just to eat the cardboard chicken. The rice was also lukewarm at best. Stop cutting corners in their kitchen and get back to the fundamentals. read more

I've been to Javi's 2 times, the first time was right after the opened so they were very busy but the food was good. I try to wait new places out until they have been open several weeks due to everything trying to go there. When I went the first time we had the guacamole for appetizer (which was perfect) and I got the carne asada tacos (very good) This 2nd time I went with some friends for lunch and we got the Dilemma and a Texas Martini ( these both were great) We also got the queso blanco and the fresh guacamole ( when you are seated you get two bowls of salsa ( one is a mix green and red and the other is a more spicy) for my meal I got the appetizer mini brisket tacos ( but seriously wow) they were delicious!!!!!
