When we moved from Trabuco Canyon to Huntington Beach a few months ago to be closer to the…read moregrandkids, I needed to find two things a donut shop or bakery that made fresh banana nut muffins and a good bike shop to help me maintain the family's bikes. I found the muffins and donuts, but it took a little longer to find a great bike shop. I stopped by several of them in the Huntington Beach area and I found one that has a real passion for the customer, Huntington Beach Cycles on Atlanta. They recently had to make a tough decision. They got so backed up with service work they needed to lock the doors to focus on repairs which created no bike sales or parts sales for the few days they had to close. I know it's tough on some of us that had bikes in behind closed doors, but I respect a business owner to keep his commitment to service and repair the bikes that he had taken in and focus on his service. During the last several weeks they lost a technician and that put some extra workload on the rest of the staff. Mike did a great job servicing our bikes. I also noticed that the owner of the shop, Kevin, has an outstanding relationship with his team and they all share his passion for the customer. I remember going in our 1st time when it was first opened with different owners. They were fantastic & made me feel comfortable. They were not intimidating and the service went great. We took our bikes there a 2nd time, I don't know who the owner was at the time, and everything was fine. This is our 3rd time taking our bikes for service there. This time our experience was not the same under the current ownership. No shade to the owner. He was very nice & pleasant. I'm glad to see a lot of good reviews but that was not my experience. We dropped off our mountain non-e bikes for general service as they weren't running great at the end of the week. He mentioned that they'd be looked at the following Tuesday with an estimate (week 1). He mentioned that it'd be possible to adjust recommended repairs to suit our budget. Great! No problem. Very considerate suggestion. But we didn't hear from him on Tuesday or any day that 1st week. We tried calling a couple times that week but no answer. We tried stopping by at 11 (posted opening time was 10) and there was a note on the door they open at noon. We stopped by another day & it seems there was a family emergency so he'd get to us the 2nd week. We got busy and another week rolled around and a 2nd Tuesday with no news on the repair estimate. We called a couple times the 2nd week & there was no answer. We stopped by around 4:30 and it was closed (posted closing time was 6). We called again that weekend & he said his tech would come in the next Tuesday, the 3rd week, to look at the bikes. At this point, the bikes are sitting in the shop for 2 full weeks going on a 3rd before anyone even looks at them for an estimate. This does not inspire confidence that the bikes would even be done that 3rd week. While maybe they would have finally been repaired in the 3rd week, we decided cut our losses & take our bikes elsewhere. I truly hope this business succeeds, but we're probably not going to go back.

It was a $10 item and he was willing to give it away. It might have been on the shelf for a long time but he was willing to give it to me. He's a local guy and treated me like a neighbor. I will never do business with any other bike shop. His young mechanic was a great kid too. Please do business with this local HB proprietor. He's the real deal.

We also lost time waiting for the other battery. However, kudos to the staff and owner because they made it right for us when we returned the bikes. Spot has good staff and a great location. Refreshing the bikes with newer models would bump it to 5 stars.

Made appointment and was then told they could do a tune up and change the rear tire but they couldn't change the front tire because it's a "Quick Release" front tire on the front fork. Note that this is a foldable bike with stock original quick release front tire for transporting, no modifications. II said I don't understand, I'm in the Huntington Beach store where I purchased the Rad bike and you won't change the front tire with another Rad tire? ANSWER: No. you purchased the bike from "Rad Power Bikes Inc" which was sold to "Rad *+%#!£¥€! Corporation" and we no longer service those old bikes with the quick release axel on the front fork due to "Safety Reasons". Safety reasons? Whose safety? The service technician or the owner? If it's the owner was there a recall??! Sounded to me like another strong case of Corporate Winnie BS so I left with my bike and went to my local bike shop who was more than happy to change my tires. Bottom Line: Buyer beware. I purchased from this company when there was a lot of start up companies selling cheap Chinese crap for far less believing a large company would stand the test of time and stand by their product. I even recommended them to 4 friends who purchased their bikes from them. Now I get to call them and say hey I'm so sorry! If they won't even change their own stock tire imagine what they won't do with something more serious. I'd go down the street, there are plenty of other e-bike companies out there.

Rather than briefly answering or directing us to someone who could help, he responded, "I'm busy with another customer right now," without making eye contact. The interaction made us feel like an inconvenience The question would have helped us determine whether we were ready to move forward with purchasing. A little acknowledgment and basic customer service would have made a significant difference. Based on this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere and would not return.

The online store and customer service are horrible. I purchased a product as advertised online. The following day, I got an email stating that there was an error and the real price was actually almost double. They cancelled my order and meanwhile I missed out on a sale at another shop where i could have gotten it cheaper than Jax's new price. I understand mistakes can be made and I don't want to buy something that causes the shop to lose money. I contaacted them and tried to be reasonable and work out a deal that was good for both of us. I was delaing with their VP of Operations, Brian Cox, so I figured I was talking to the right guy who could be reasonable and make it right for both of us. Rather than offer any kind of deal to make up for the fact that they made a massive mistake on their webiste, he simply threw their bogus disclaimer at me and said MSRP was the best he could do. When I tried to contact further to see if we could reach an agreement, he began ignoring my emails. That is poor customer service. Their motto is "We make people happy!" Well, good customer service makes people happy and needless to say, I am not. I guess its a good thing that I used this as a test purchase to see if I wanted to deal with this company (my first time). I will buy the remainder of the parts for my new high end build elsewhere. I guess making a statement on a $250 component was so important that they did not care to get an additional $2000 in business from me. read more

Just wanted to thank the wonderful young service crew at Jax for the outstanding service and courteousness they showed me when I was in a jam with a tandem bike I'd brought in on the spur of the moment. The owner of an AirB&B I was working for had promised his tandem bike with a baby seat would be ready for his new guests to enjoy on their vacation stay. Turned out the stem of the front tire was damaged and the inner tube had to be replaced. So in a panic I walked the bike to Jax and told them the situation - that the new guests were waiting to take the bike out with their infant son. After a brief wait they put off working on other bikes to fit me in right on the spot and showed me such consideration and courteousness to calm me down. I also called their attention to the child seat I'd tried to install at the last minute but hadn't done correctly, so they took extra time and re-mounted it correctly with no extra charge. You can bet I'll be back there for all of my biking needs. I was out of there in a jiffy and the day was saved. Many thanks, guys. May your lights always be green! read more

I had a warranty problem with my electric mountain bike that the selling dealer (not JAX Bicycles) would not take care of. I called the Huntington Beach Jax store and explained my problem. The Service Manager, Anthony, told me to bring my bike in and he would see if they could help me with the electrical problem. They diagnosed the electrical problem and submitted a claim to the component manufacturer under warranty. Even though Jax did not sell or carry that brand of bike, they did use the same electric components on the brand they sell. The Store Manager (Chris) said that Jax Bicycles takes care of all customers. I highly recommend Jax for excellent customer service. read more

I recently upgradeed from my 29" mountioan bike and purchased my first road bike, and road it at the MS Ride in Ventura with our Black and Gold Team, the first leg was all up hill. What a Great Bike. I had been in to H.B, Store a few times to see John, but couldn't really decide. I also looked around, finaly when I came back John fit me with the perfect bike for my size extra large and small budget. I have have never had better service and attention . I will never go anywhere else. Great Store , If you are loking for a bike JAX is the place to go. read more

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, THIS PLACE!!!! They scammed us out of $84.99. They supposedly tuned up my son's bike. He was stranded within 1 ride and I had to pick him up. I called the manager. They agreed to a full refund. They failed to credit my credit card so I emailed them and disputed the card, and they are fighting with me UNREAL!!! BUYER BEWARE. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! If you are in the area don't waste your time looking for other bike shops, just go to Jax and ask for Garrett or Mel, they will take care of you. read more

Stopped in and picked up a few miscellaneous parts for the ole beach cruiser this weekend. Lots of cool and shiny stuff to look at but they are priced a bit on the high side. Great for tourists but I think us locals will generally opt for the shops a little further off Main St. and save the $$$ for Happy Hour :) read more

I asked to Buy back and he has ignored me going on 2 weeks now. will not return call. Scott brought this to me with dents and scratches and blamed GERMANY for it. which is weird.
