They just started their draft Hofbrau Oktoberfest yesterday, and it was perfect. We ordered the sausage sampler, the meatball appetizer with the red cabbage, and the chicken schnitzel with jagersaus. We would come back for the schnitzel with jagersaus and red cabbage. We went to Germany earlier this year, and this reminded us of some of the great food we had there. Compared to other bier gartens or bars at the same price point, this place really delivers.

By that point, I was completely put off and declined the replacement. I understand mistakes happen, but cleanliness at a bar should be the bare minimum, especially when it comes to drinkware. Unfortunately, this experience ruined the visit for me and I won't be returning.

The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their claim to fame was being the first establishment to serve bison burgers along with beer before offering anything else. Once Bubba sold the place to one of his VIP customers, it's been run by the same family ever since. This is truly one of the most old school buildings one can find in the greater Galleria area. The view of highways and parking lot pot holes is admittedly somewhat depressing, but there is a certain nostalgic charm that only a place like this can capture. The seating situation is outdoor / patio only, which makes this a tough spot during warm weather days. The indoor area is reserved only for the staff, consisting of mostly young folks hustling to keep the food going. Avoid using the restrooms if possible, it's one of their roughest patches. Today, the menu is still very simple, consisting of mostly burgers and sandwiches with some fries, and miscellaneous sides like frito pies, potato salad, and onion rings. The burgers are $8.25 a patty, along with $10.25 for the bison. Their burgers are $11-16 each, which may not sound crazy nowadays, but feels pricey considering the portion. Throw in extras like bacon ($2.25), a fried egg ($1.50) chili ($2.50) etc. and it'll add up quick. Thankfully the food is consistent and tasty. Their frito pie burger ($12.25/14.25) is rarity in the HTown burger world, and I have high praise for their patty melt ($11/13). Still, I can't help but enjoy their simple, but pricey double cheeseburger ($17.50) and wolf it down with their very crispy fries. I think I could just focus on the latter and be extremely pleased. Parking can be a little wild. There are no defined areas in the gravel pit(s), and there is a massive pothole that looks like a crater. Missing the turn for this place makes it hard for anyone to turn around, so it's not inconceivable to think they've missed out on a lot of potential customers as a result. Any burger lover owes it to themselves to give Bubba's a shot at least once. While the bison burgers don't taste significantly better than the beef, their food is still worth the occasional splurge with good company on a cool weather day.

I have eaten here 3-4 times in the last few years, but today was the last time I am going to waste my money on such bad food. The kitchen staff is long past caring what kind of food they turn out. They just do what ever is convenient for them. Much of the food, like grilled chicken, is pre-cooked and they just warm it up. Today I saw a big bowl of pre-cooked Cajun Chicken (today's special) sitting on top of the grill hood. Who knows what kind of bacteria was growing in that bowl of lukewarm chicken. Large batches of stale french fries were hanging over the fryer. On the plus side, I asked for some freshly fries and the cashier made sure I got them. They were great. came out to eat tonight for the first time at jax and let me tell y'all I loved it!!! it got quite busy for a bit but the cashiers up at the front check every one out fast! they were very helpful and recommended some good foods. i'm even surprised at how fast our food came out too! Went in to Jax grillto have lunch yesterday. I wanted to try the burger because one of my co-workers had mentioned it was good. While I was waiting in line I noticed the man working the grill, reach into a pan of liquid (with a gloved hand) pull out a precooked burger , and place it on the grill. I stopped in at around 12:30 pm to find the place with several people but not overly busy. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and made it a combo with fries and a drink (onion rings, and sweet potato fries are also an option in lieu of regular French fries). My order came out relatively quickly, and I was impressed by the quality of the food. The burger, while not being absolutely amazing, had a good flavor, with the fresh sourdough buns being of particular note for their freshness, taste, and texture. The fries were also delicious with a fresh texture that got the mix between crispness and sogginess just right. Additionally, as I dined, one of the managers or owners came around to ask how everyone's food was, which is something I do enjoy seeing. That said, and subpar decorations aside, the main detractor for me was price. The cost to upgrade a burger to a combo is $5.50 - more than half of the cost of the burger itself. I can't ever remember a restaurant charging so much for fries and a drink. While I did enjoy the fries which were of good quality, they don't justify such an enormous up charge, and is not something I think I would pay for again. So I can say that I will definitely return here in the future to try out other burgers as well as items like the tacos, quesadillas, and catfish, and I do recommend it as a decent lunch spot. Unfortunately, the shoddy decorations and combo prices means it only warrants 4 stars, rather than a full 5.
