My dentist is in the area and we wanted a lowkey breakfast spot. Found they opened at 9am so we can right over. We were starving so we both ordered a plate. I got the biscuits and gravy with sausage which was excellent. However the star of the show turned out to be the omelette. My husband throughly enjoyed it and they were NOT stingy with the filling. Service was fast. We ordered fast and the food arrived even faster. It was hot, fresh and plentiful. I happened to use their restroom which I don't do often as I prefer to wait. To my surprise the restroom was clean and well maintained. Overall I'd definitely be returning. read more

The fries were either old or just meh. The consistency was off. There was a hint of spicy to them which wasn't necessarily bad but not expected. The sweet potato fries were better. Has been some time since visiting the original Lankford so good to see their Bellaire location. On a Monday night, too quiet around 7:30. I suspect it was due to the Texans playoff game. Ample indoor with mixed seating including booths as well outdoor seating. Newer so different from the rustic feel of the original location. They had a Monday combo special (hamburger/cheeseburger) which included fries and drink but we were interested in the Specialty Burgers. We ordered the Firehouse Burger (with habanero mayo on the side), Bellaire and Midtown Burger. I remember having the Firehouse Burger and how spicy it was with the Habanero mayo, so good to get it on the side. We ordered the Burgers medium and they came out as ordered. The patties were tasty and a good size. Also, have the option to order the Burger flame grilled which is a nice touch. The Midtown with the crunchy onion ring didn't disappoint and the grilled jalapeños and Bacon jam took the Bellaire Burger over the top! Service was friendly and engaged. They have a self pour Beer Wall which is a nice addition, breakfast menu also looked really good-next time. A different vibe from the original location while matching the Burger deliciousness! read more

This burger was loaded and flavorful -- mac & cheese, jalapeños, bacon, cheddar cheese, comes with a sunny-side-up egg (i substituted it for a fried egg), all topped with habanero mustard and cayenne butter. Spicy, rich, and absolutely worth it. I started with the fried pickle appetizer, which came out hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned a great way to kick things off. The food totally rocked. Great food joint with booths, tables, tabletop and bar seating! Menu for burgers is really fun and of course you can order how you want your patty cooked! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert menus too! My first time there tonight and it was the best burger I've had since I moved to Houston in 1985! Seriously. First time coming here & honestly I don't know if it was because they were about to close or what but our food portions weren't all that for what we paid for. I could tell that my wings were the frozen ones. We ordered curly fries & although they were good, the portion size of them wasn't. For $4 each basket too! I do say, the restrooms were very nice & clean! The restaurant does have a nice oldies touch, it was nice too. The burger was absolutely delicious. Half pound juicy patty in a brioche bun with all the fixings. There was a slice of avocado in it too. Mushroom Swiss 5/5. This was my first visit and it was awesome! Customer service is unmatched, drinks are delicious, and food was fresh and flavorful. There are also a host of options for dessert as well. I captured a picture of our appetizers (fried green tomatoes and queso fries), but we also ordered the sweet chili wings, veggie quesadillas, fish sandwich, and curly fries. I have visited the original Lankford's several times over the years. Ever since they hit their TV fame. Their newest location, in Bellaire, has the same food but it's a little different. We'll talk about that soon. I stopped by on a Monday evening for dinner and parked in their complimentary lot without any issues. Ambiance (3.5/5): Unlike the original location, which is a little cramped, this one is more spacious. There's table seating and booth seating. And they have TVs showing sports games including Monday Night Football while I was there. The downside? They close at 9 p.m. which is way too early, especially when Monday Night Football isn't even over when you close down. We sat at a table with a good view of one of the TVs. Service (3.5/5): Pretty non-existent. You order your food at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Drinks (4/5): One of the few places in town that I know that has a self-service beer wall. Pick up a bracelet with the cashier, and then pour whatever beers you want to your heart's content. Most of the beers are local craft brews. While it's a cool concept, it does tend to get a bit pricey. Food (3/5): While there's more on the menu, they're known for their burgers so that's what I would recommend. I went with the pimento cheese burger with queso fries. You know a burger joint is undelivering when their fries shine more than their burgers do. That's what happened here. While the burger wasn't bad, it was a little lackluster. The burger patty was missing the ooze or char you want to see. The pimento cheese was a nice touch and not something you find often in this part of the country. The bread, while fresh, was a little too big for the patty. The fries, on the other hand, chef's kiss. Crisp, fresh-cut, well-seasoned. Exactly what I was looking for. And these cheese on top is always a good idea because throw cheese on anything and it's better. If you're looking for a casual spot to grab some burgers and brews, Lankford's is a good spot. Lankford's in Bellaire gets two stars for the beer wall. Go for the beer, not the food. EVERYTHING we ordered that was fried was overcooked. The tater tots were bundles of crunch with no potato inside. The fried pickles were so overcooked, the coating was falling off the wilted pickles. And the fries tasted like they had been fried and refried and refried a third time. I wanted to take all three orders back, but the rest of my party didn't want to make a fuss. For what they charge, we should have made a fuss. Most people go to Lankford's for the hamburgers, which are smaller than expected. (I noticed while I was paying my bill that the cook pulled three cooked hamburgers out of a container and placed them back on the grill. To reheat them? For $12, they should serve nothing but fresh burgers.) One more thing irked me: they charge extra if you use a credit card. Does anyone use cash these days? No. We won't be back to Lankford's. Next time we want a big, juicy hamburger and crispy fries that are cooked to perfection, we'll stick with Beck's Prime. They never disappoint. read more

The original Lankford's has been one of Houston's heavy hitters when it comes to burgers. It's been featured on local and national television shows and always comes up as one of the best burger spots in town. My friends and I checked out their newest location in Bellaire on a Sunday afternoon. I was expecting more people, but it was very chill and relaxed when we arrived. It did pick up when it got closer to lunch time. The space itself is nice and clean and has a good amount of seating inside as well as some patio space as well. Parking doesn't seem to be an issue here. Customer service was good. They explained some of the specials they were having on breakfast items and gave us great suggestions on the burgers. I always knew them as a burger spot, but they have pretty good sized menu with an impressive breakfast menu, apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches, sides and entrees. Some of the breakfast specials were hard to pass up, but I went with a burger to really see what this place was about. They got lots of burgers to choose from and you can pick any protein you want on any of them. They have chicken, turkey, fish, and veg options as well. You can even have your burger flame grilled as opposed to flat top. Nice to know for next time. As always, I was indecisive and let the employee pick for me. She told me to go with the 3B-Bellaire Bacon Burger. It had bacon jam, grilled jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, bacon and pepper jack cheese. The burger took awhile to come out but it was nice and fresh when it did arrive. Now this burger was a big boy. I'm guessing because of the bacon jam, the buns were a little on the soggy side which made for a bit of a mess to eat. I had to fork it at some point. The angus patty itself was seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly. The bacon slices was a but chewy. I like a little more bite to mine. The jam was good. It was definitely a bacon forward. Solid burger. I got a side of tots to go with mine and it was a generous portion, perfectly crispy and seasoned. We did have fries at the table which were hand cut and seasoned just right. I thought they were better than the tots. I washed it all down with a Dr. Pepper. They have an awesome beer dispensing wall and you just pay by the pour as well as cocktails, wine, etc. Overall, Lankford's did not disappoint. Brought the whole family in for Friday night burgers. Great burgers and service. Burgers are sizable guessing it's 1/3 pounder patty. Cooked to order and all the fixings are fresh. Wife went on the adventure side and had the brisket burger which is a full burger with brisket on top. OMG! You will need a nap she only ate half. Onion rings where perfect and milk shake was great. Been wanting to try this place for a while and got the chance for the first time today. I got their bowl of Frito Pie since so few places sell that and I was not disappointed because it tasted great! For the price the serving size was great too, you definitely get your money's worth. They have a bunch of burgers I need to try the next time I come back but from what I've heard from a friend those are great too! The burgers and fries are exceptional! Meat is moist and cooked to the desired level. The variety and combinations of the burgers is nice. The ingredients complement each other and do not overpower the taste of the burger. The cheeseburger is delicious as well. The burger size appears big but is not overwhelming. It was satisfying without being excessive. Always friendly service, at times it has gone beyond the standard counter service. Very comfortable atmosphere. This is great go to place! read more

Unfortunately I have to remove 1 star. Not because of the food, it's still excellent, but because of the service today. 2 weeks ago on our very first visit everything, including the service, was amazing. Today on our 2nd visit the service was pretty bad. 1st there is a sign on the register stating if you give them a 5 star review that you get a free order of fries on your next visit. Now, I didn't give them 5 stars because of the free fry offer, but because our 1st visit genuinely was Excellent. However, today when I ordered I asked the girl taking my order about the free fries. She had no idea what I was talking about. I picked up the sign that was sitting right in front of her on the register and showed her as well as showed her my review on my phone. She had no idea how to handle this and started scanning around for help. I had already waited nearly 10 minutes just to get up to the register to order and wasn't really in the mood to wait any longer nor to keep the people behind me waiting as well so I said just forget the fries. Next I mentioned my veteran status to get a discount, she also had no idea about this (I know they do it as I got it on my first visit, and oddly enough by the same girl taking my order now). Again she starts looking around for help. Again I said I wasn't going to wait extra just for that so ring me up. Right then another employee, perhaps a manager, showed up and took care of it all. Now back to our table to wait for our food. 18 minutes after we ordered, my cheeseburger and onion rings arrived but not my wife's grilled chicken sandwich. Now, 18 minutes wasn't all that long considering how busy they were but to bring out only half of our order? We waited another 5 minutes and still no chicken sandwich. My wife goes up to check on it and was told they were 'making it'. About 2 minutes after she sat down her sandwich and our free fries arrived. There was a family of 4 in front of me at the register when we arrived and they were sitting at a table next to us. They didn't get their food until a few minutes AFTER we got ours and just like ours, it was brought out 1 or 2 at a time with a couple minutes between. Not sure what was going on with the kitchen. Will we go back? Absolutely as the food is amazing, just hopefully won't have such a bad customer service experience next time. read more

Loved the cheese burger I had here! Burger was huge, bun was nice and soft, and they load it with toppings! I switched out American for cheddar and added jalapeños. I also had some mac and cheese, but I was kinda full from the burger to eat that much of it. Fries were good but some of them were slightly under cooked and they came out way after the burger, so we didn't eat that many of them. They give you a ton though! The young guys that run the place were friendly and checked in on us a few times. I lost the coupon I had and asked them about it, but they couldn't honor anything because of the QR code, which was a bummer but I understand. Overall, great food and friendly service. I visited this newish outpost of Lankford's recently for lunch. Being a fan of the original, I was looking forward to a good meal. Upon arriving I immediately noticed that the parking situation is only slightly better here than the OG spot. Here, it's in a small strip center and you have to compete for parking with the other businesses. Inside it attractively decorated looking much newer but the original more local charm. This location is table service and I ordered the regular burger for ($10) and added fries ($4) and a soft drink ($3). The waiter told me that the fries here are hand cut as opposed to frozen at the original spot. The food arrived about 10 minutes later. The burger was big, delicious and a little sloppy as I remembered at the original. Sloppy means a little drippy but in a good way. The mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions on a big brioche bun with a 1/2 lb beef patty made me happy (4). The fries were another story. While they looked good being brown in color they were sopping wet in oil. I mean like they just jumped out of a swimming pool. I ate the burger first to give them time to dry and even then they were still quite wet. Also, they were undercooked with a dense raw potato tasting center. They disappointed me and I only ate a few (1). If there is a next time here for me it will either be trying the onion rings or just the burger by itself. Also since this is a table service eatery the tip makes this meal eat up every bit of a $20 bill and more. Remember, I ordered their cheapest burger. Honestly, I think I would only go back to the OG location with it interior charm and lower overall cost. I'll give a 3 here but no more. read more

I'm sad this location isn't doing well. I've enjoyed the downtown one for years and would often take friends and family when they came to visit. The new owners (still in the family business) seemed like they were doing good things for the little neighborhood spot and getting it more exposure in the beginning. Adding a second location seemed like the obvious go to and let customers choose what kind of atmosphere they wanted with their burgers. I've been to the Bellaire location twice now and nothing went right either time. We laughed i it off on the first try Who's running that place? Because I didn't see one person "in charge" either time. Much less talking to their paying customers about their poor experience. I can only assume the 5 star ratings are friends/family or worse, staff. The two reviews about getting food poisoning is something I wish I would have seen before visiting though..:. read more

Ordered the "grim" burger, and it was good, but I felt like it was lacking flavor overall. Got a nice kick from the jalapeños, but the Mac and cheese was on the blander side, and I couldn't even taste cheese in general. Super filling with the addition of the bacon and sunny side up egg. The burger would be complete with some sauce!! Ketchup will get the job done though. Curly fries were great!! Portion was smaller than expected, but the quality of the fries exceeded all expectations. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sooo crispy. Also, I will say I was very impressed by how hot our food remained after taking it to go and being out for a full hour. When I opened up the burger once we got home, it was like it was served fresh.
