Stopped on here for a birthday dinner for the gf and was pleasantly surprised. I have had Pappas Burger previously via pickup and it was fairly good, but in person is so much better. The atmosphere is like a cozy older burger joint with decent music and TVs on for entertainment. Staff was super friendly and helpful with menu. The freshness of all the food and ingredients were great. The queso and chips were great!! I ate majority of them prior to getting my food and finished after eating my meal as well. The Nashville hot sandwich could be a bit spicier and is about a 5/10 on the spice scale. The one thing I did not like in the meal was the slaw. Not enough sauce, way too crunchy, feels like just eating cut up cabbage. The fries and ranch were also delicious. Gf ordered the Philly Cheesesteak burger and was her second time, and same thing, a great burger in person. She was able to swap for sweet potato fries as well and enjoyed the whole meal. For her birthday the waiter was able to offer a free dessert and she choose the handspun vanilla shake which was delicious. Came here after our cruise, my partner has been here but not me and the kids. Get here early, because it gets really packed in there. You order at the front and they sit you and they drop off the food. My burger was delicious. I got buffalo sauce on the side and omg so good with fries. The kids got strawberry and vanilla milkshake and both said it was tasty. The service was amazing and you pay at the end after your done eating. Overall, this place is great. I have been to Matt's Grill in Minneapolis and tried their Jucy Lucy, so when I read Pappa's Burgers had a similar one called their Lucy Juicy, even reported to be the best on their menu (...packed with melty American cheese, they say), I thought it worth a try. With the usual Pappas' excellence I felt I couldn't go wrong even though it is a bit pricey. And just about everything was top notch: fries/onion ring sides, generous, well cooked and fresh; large burger, well cooked; large toasted challah bun and superb service. They even add an egg (which I would omit). However, not so fast... Expecting something like Matt's JL, oozing with cheese that even squirted out making a mess. (read the story of how the JL it got its name). Another lady at our table in Matt's had an even worse experience and had to go clean her shirt. My Pappas LJ virtually had no cheese as seen in the attached picture. I had to exert significant effort to squeeze just a little for the shot. The burger was a disappointment. If you want a real JL or LJ as Pappas calls theirs, don't go here. Three stars for the overall Pappas excellence of the ambience, plate and service. Otherwise, I am afraid Pappas LJ is just another gimmicky imitation of the real thing as I have seen before. Perhaps Pappas LJ's are Lucy but they sure aren't Juicy. Stopped by Papas Burger on Saturday evening for a burger with fries and onion rings, and the experience broke down on basic execution. The fries initially came out cold, so I sent them back. A manager acknowledged it and had them remade, but what came back was worse. The fries were overcooked to the point they looked like sweet potato fries. What really stood out to me is that a manager is the one who brought those fries to the table. That's the last line of defense before food hits a guest, and they still let something that was clearly overcooked go out. They took the plate back to show the kitchen, which left me eating my burger off a napkin with no sides. I'm not sure why the fries needed to be taken back to "show the kitchen" when a manager had already brought them out. That should've been caught before they ever reached the table. After that, neither manager came back, apologized, or took any accountability. The only resolution was removing a shake from the bill, and that wasn't even communicated by a manager, it was my server who told me. On my way out, one of the managers made eye contact with me and still didn't come over to address the situation. That says everything. I could've been understanding if a manager had just stopped by and acknowledged what was going on. Mistakes happen. Avoiding the issue made it worse. My server Lane did a great job and was attentive the whole time. The issue here is clearly management. On a Saturday evening with both managers present, there's no excuse for this level of oversight. I've frequented Papas before, which is why this is especially disappointing, but I won't be back anytime soon based on this experience. read more

You order at the counter and then you bring you slip to your table and then your server will confirm your orders and they will bring your food out to your table. It still have the old school burger diner feel but lots of TVs on the wall, it feel a bit chaotic in a good way. The burger may seem expensive. Has been some time since we visited Pappa's for burgers and they won on a Sunday night from a list of great choices. The place was hopping around 7:30. Has a Diner feel and decor with a smaller Bar. You order first and then wait for seating- if there aren't any open tables, they come over and find you to take you to your table. We had about a 15 minute wait. Most of us ordered burgers from the Guacamole burger to the Peppercorn Burger and there was a shrimp basket, Buffalo Wings as well mozzarella bites. Fried Shrimp and Wings were good/standard with the mozzarella bites as the crowd favorite. My guacamole burger was tasty with a few toppings coming together and playing nicely. I remember from previous visits thinking if they have house ground prime beef why is the only choice for temperature medium well?-it doesn't really add up and although I do like the taste of the burger, I think it would be much better if they offered it medium or to your temperature liking. Service was fun and attentive and our server took great care of us. They managed the peak quite well. My friend and I have met at this particular Pappas Burgers for 3 separate occasions. We'd had never been to one before. The restaurant has always been clean, organized, workers staying busy to get you in and out but not feeling so 'rushed' while doing that. The food was excellent as no surprise, heh it's a Pappas restaurant! But I wanted to give a shout out to one of the servers. The server's name is Caitlyn and this was the second time that she was our server. The other time was good, but twice Caitlyn has been our server and she's always been very nice and helpful. From making sure all of our 'on-the-side condiments were indeed on the side (even the cheese for goodness sakes as I can't have cheese and my husband can), splitting our bill so we could each pay our own way, offering us to-go drinks at the end of our visit, asking us how our food was tasting, just all of it. We even had 2 separate to-go orders and she timed those just perfectly so that they weren't sitting getting cold. I'm not shocked by this service, because Pappas always hires the best servers, but I know not all servers are recognized so I wanted to do my part. Thanks again for "bringing it" as I have come to expect from all Pappas restaurants. I highly recommend both burgers just totally different vibes. I personally upgraded my fries to be sweet potato fries while my boyfriend d kept the traditional fries. Such a confusing place to me. It's a self order, self seating, server having, burger restaurant. Ordered two burger combos with a soda. Was given the receipt and told I would check out with my server. Found a table and sat down. Server came and checked the receipt and reviewed our order. Another person brought our burgers, but with cheese. Walked off so fast I couldn't tell him about no cheese. Finally got our server's attention to tell him no cheese. He took the burgers back and later came back with the correct order. So when we received our receipt, they had charged us for all burgers. Had to remind him to take off the remade burgers. He said that's how he had to let the kitchen know to make a new order, but he forgot to remove. No biggie to fix for him. The bill was about $50. I'm not too impressed with this burger restaurant. Nothing too special about the meat's taste or atmosphere. I don't see myself returning, but I am glad to have experienced the location because I pass by frequently. read more
