I got my usual, a double burger with cheese and onion rings. The patties are thin but wide, the bun held firm which means the juiciness factor was just right. The cheese was melty and complimented the burger not overpowering it. The lettuce, tomatoes and fixins were fresh and crisp.The onion rings are always the standout for me. The batter is crisp and the onions stay firm and not floppy. Very cute diner, nice staff. The food came out very hot, it is no wonder this diner is busy and popular. Ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and fried mushrooms. Fries were really good, burger and veggies were fresh and although the meat patties were flame broiled, I would've like it to be charred a bit. You order at the counter after reviewing a classic blackboard menu and can choose from a few different options. My go-to order is a cheeseburger with a side of onion rings with a lemonade for the drink. Their homemade lemonade is in a big jar in the middle of the counter so it grabs your attention as you order. If you want dessert they have good brownies. After you order they give you a number, you can find a table and they call you when it's ready. Breakfast is your classic diner offering in Annie's own way. You can order pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy... all good options but I get the breakfast plate or a waffle. Just stopped at an old place called and Annie's hamburgers. It's been here about 50 years. It was really good. The staff was very sweet. The hamburgers - they put the vegetables on the bottom bun and the meat on top which is different for me. But it was really good pretty juicy. The onion rings were super crispy just like I like them almost burnt but when you bite them the onion cuts and so no pulling on onion strings. The French fries were crispy and good. Cute place - worth coming in and checking it out. Irania works the cash register and she was so sweet. They they have this homemade lemonade that's ice that looks like snow. We saw this place online and that it was called a Houston staple (they've been in business a long time!) and tried it out. The value is great! Fries $3. They're crispy! A beer place is only as good as its fries and these are good. The burgers are really good. About $5-$7. Perfectly cooked. Juicy. Flavorful. The burgers are nice and juicy/tasty but you have to go off-road to park in their lot. You enter that lot and be prepared for suspension problems. It is by far the worst I've encountered in Houston. You would think that the folks at Annie's would push on the land lord to get it fixed but they don's seem to care and it drives business away. We came Sunday morning around 10 am. The family was excited to try a new place and ate Breakfast connoisseur. The parking lot is a death trap for your car and heels! Upon entering the establishment, it looked clean. White walls and table reflecting a brightness. The atmosphere is open to all - single, couple, family. There are no barriers seen. You pick where you sit while the staff focuses on the food. There was a line to the register which was long but did not take long. It depends on the people ordering. There are only two menus - breakfast and lunch. They are specific and clear for one to order. They also have pictures on the side area to represent the menu. This can be helpful for visual learners, non-readers, and special needs people. The cashier was nice and patient. When asking her about the method of the eggs (fry/scrabble), she looked perplexed and unsure. However, we came to the conclusion of the establishments' meaning and our understanding. The bill was ~$23. When your order is ready, they call your number. Our food came out hot and fresh ready for a picture. Order 1. Number (#6 Awesome Breakfast - eggs, 2 pancakes, sausage)/Order 2. (#6 Awesome Breakfast - eggs, 2 pancakes, hash brown). They have self serve syrup which is hot and a plus for me. The fluidity was to high for me. I know is hot but it was still to running. The pancakes were not hard as a rock nor fluffy. The edges had a crisp crust and the height is ~3/4in (not bad). They have a gritty like consistency that the cook in me wants to know if they put a little cornmeal in them. The eggs - (Order 1 scrabble) was deemed okay and (Order 2 medium) was good such that the yoke was runny enough to spread with the potatoes and pancake. They pan sausage was good, tasty, and juicy. The overall leader of it all was the hash brown - not that shredded mess but cubed potatoes with onions. It reminded me of my mothers scalloped potatoes and onions cooked on top of the stove. While I would have liked smaller cubes, it was fork tender. Overall, I give it a three. The food was different and okay. My family and I would not return. My son and I finally tried out Annie's a couple weeks ago. There are no combos you have to basically buy everything separately. The online pricing is very outdated and I was kinda disappointed about that. You basically pay at the register after you place your order and wait for your order to be called. We ate inside and the decor was average yet homey. My son enjoyed his burger. For me it wasn't bad but it wasn't good enough to me to come back for the amount I spent.
