I had an extremely disappointing experience at this bowling alley. Firstly, the staff were incredibly rude. I understand their policy on outside food and drinks, but their refusal to provide a simple cup of iced tap water was unjustifiable. Instead of offering a basic amenity, they directed me to a grimy water fountain that was far from appetizing. I advise management to look up how much bacteria can harvest on water fountains. Paying customers should at least get a free bottle of water or a cup of water at the very least. On that hot night, I politely asked for ice with my water, only to be met with a flat "no" by the rude young lady behind the counter. Contrastingly, she was quick to offer my friends and me a free styrofoam cup of Sprite, raising questions about their priorities. Adding insult to injury, when I accidentally dropped the cap to my drink, they refused to provide a replacement. When I requested a refill, I was met with yet another uncompromising "no". The stringency of their rules borders are absolutely absurd, and their lack of basic customer service was deeply disappointing. A visit here left me thoroughly dissatisfied, and I would caution others to consider "BOWLERO" right down the street where hospitality and common courtesy are better upheld. Matty, if you see this don't bother responding to this review to try to make things "right" because according to many other reviews mentioning the same issues from over a year ago that you've also responded to nothings been changed the slightest. Had a blast bowling here with my friends on friday night! Approx 15 of us, ages 20s and 30s, scored 3 lanes together and enjoyed some cheap beers & cosmic bowling. My friends and I love this place. We come every Wednesday after the leagues leave. The staff is always soo friendly and attentive when needed not to mention it's so clean. This bowling alley is one of the cleanest, most enjoyable I've been to, other than those that are brand newly built. The new owners have upgraded the equipment and refreshed the interior decor. The staff is pleasant and the snack bar has a reasonable menu -- would like for them to add bags of chips to go with sandwiches, but ----- I love that they have house balls that actually fit an adult hand. This bowling alley has been opened for years and I've been coming here since 2005. It is the only bowling alley where I'm most comfortable with. Not because of the generous staff and friendly environment, but also the decent and affordable prices. I usually avoid cosmic (glow) bowling (after 9 PM on Fridays and the weekends) because it's a bit more expensive, especially when I play a lot of games. The games really add up. But once in a while, I play cosmic bowling just for the sake of fun and experience. Cosmic bowling has laser lights, disco lights, black lights, and runway lights with loud music in the background. It's a cool experience. With that being said, I mostly go here on weekdays after 9:30 PM because of their Quarter Mania special deal. Essentially, on Mondays through Thurdays between 9:30 PM and 2 AM, there is a $6 cover charge, plus $3.25 shoes, and then 25 cents per game. There is no bowling alley in Jax that can beat this deal. This is a friendly environment. Everyone seems so nice, especially the staff. They are always helpful with your needs. The snack bar is kind of overpriced, but I really love their french fries, chicken nuggets, nachos, and corn nuggets! They are really hot when they come out of the oven. Was never more than a 3 Star Bowling Alley. Most of the time the ceiling fans don't work. The place is a little dirty too. But the worst part now is they are installing string bowling. This differs from the free fall bowling and is more of an entertainment than it is true bowling. Only really good thing about it. Is they have good prices. If you're out to rent a pair of shoes and use a house ball and have fun, be a good place to go to. For the more serious bowler, it's not good. Will be paying double the price to bowl somewhere else, but at least it's not this *ull *hit "string" bowling! read more

$5 per person per game after 9:30p. $3.50 for shoes. So I just really really really love Cosmic Bowling. After hitting up a Happy Hour this place was the perfect way to wind down the night. Great staff just us all set up for the game and we had no problems the whole night. Music video playing songs that we had long forgotten. It was like a college throwback. The cherry on top was that awesome moment when LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem plays and almost the entire alley does the running man. HELL YES! I love bowling. I don't do it very often outside of my family's annual Post Christmas Party Bowling Extravaganza, but it is a lot of fun. Some friends of mine were even on the bowling team in high school. And if you are looking to go bowling in Jacksonville, this is a great spot to do so. With low prices and friendly staff, Jax Lanes is a good bet for some bowling fun. They do all the normal things like Cosmic Bowling [the thing with the blacklights] but the real best bet here is go early on a Monday or something when its slow and just bowl your brains out. Bartender was unbelievably rude, was persistent after getting several drink orders completely wrong, and were overly difficult about nearly everything we did. I really wanted to go out with my husband for a date night and we chose to go bowling, being that this place was the closest to the house, we came here. Let me start off by saying, the guy at the front desk was very kind although it took him forever to get us checked in being he wasn't at the desk for a few minutes. I asked for bumpers being I'm not an experienced bowler & knew I'd have much more fun with them. I was told no cus they only allowed it for children. We went and sat down and proceeded. I went three times and just wasn't having a good time so my husband went up to the front desk again asking if they could please put them up, the guy said we could ask the manager. So the manager took about 10 minutes to come to my husband & told him no. So at this point I'd just like to go to another bowling alley that allows me to do this so I asked if we could get refunded.. well, they don't do refunds & the manager was very rude and a smart ass while saying this. When I said I just wanted to have a good time, she proceeded to say "if 5 years olds can do it, so can anyone older" they are VERY short staffed, obviously very rude & don't accommodate to those that need a little extra help. The shoes were FILTHY as were the balls. They need to upgrade very badly. If I can't have bumpers because of the fact they just might break, they need to consider new bumpers. Jax lanes has many specials thru out the week at great rates which are so much lower then many other bowling alleys in Jacksonville area. People are nice and great. We are regular bowlers, but not league bowlers. We bowl for fun. Why people put them down when they work hard to improve the building, the service and give great prices. We have bowled here for 3 years on a weekly basis, before COVID-19 hit. When we ask for music to be played they do unless storms are in the area. Went there for the 1st time on a Friday night. It was kinda packed but lanes were available with no wait. Got a bad attitude vibe form the lady that ran the register. She wasn't very welcoming or friendly. We ordered French fries and nachos from restaurant...they were HORRIBLE. Standard packaged frozen fair. NO FLAVOR what so ever. Ordered a drink from the bar where the bartender held a conversation the entire time to another patron. Again not very friendly or welcoming (to me). Although they have $1 games on Sundays after 4pm, the organization is terrible. I had a party of 7 and needed two lanes. I was told that my entire party had to be there before we could get a lane and there was a 4 player per lane minimum. We were skipped over 3 times to persons with only two players and two people who had one lane each to themselves. Needless to say I was told I had to wait because there were no lanes open. I came with my son who is seven and we ordered some food form the food stand, the younger lady was very kind but the older lady who we tipped and had our son put the tip in the box claimed he took money out of her tip jar, I explained our tip didn't go all the way in the box so he pulled it out and pushed it back in. I was in my server uniform as I had just gotten off of work, I explained I am a server and have been for a long time we wouldn't steal her tip and if she didn't believe me here is another tip, she told me she knows kids and she knew what she saw. Workers behind the counter are rude and hard to deal with considering being in a League and trying to schedule pre-bowling. They Definitely need some customer service training. They have rules for a 24hr notice on pre-bowling however if the entire house is open they want to REFUSE allowing you to bowl.
