Wonderful spa like salon with high end interior design. Jack the owner of Jax has stellar background experience and has taught as an apprentice and master in Paris, all over Europe and Asia with the hair design master, Yosh, . His intuitive design and color work is palpable and he quickly gets to work applying what he knows as if automatic. He doesn't need a lot of time or fuss working with design or color he is quick to apply his skill . His business is driven by loyal customers over the decades and well established with deep roots in Menlo Park and other cities which sustained him all through the pandemic. He is also an owner of a Greek restaurant.. Nick The Greek. I'm impressed with jack's experience and large loyal clientele he's built a relationship over decades. The business virtually runs itself as a result. Thank you Jack for being the first colorist to work on my hair since the beginning of the pandemic even though you didn't know me. I imagine his clientele are mostly long time customers and I being an unknown client was a rarity. That's how good he is ! If you want an expert, excellent efficient color or cut appointment jack is the designer for you. Note: Right now there is no coffee, wine , champagne ,tea or drink service at the salon. I imagine that it's due to the pandemic and following guidelines. Most high end salons I visited before the pandemic offer this service. Usually a salon also calls to confirm an appointment. But without a receptionist ( also probably due to the pandemic) there wasn't anyone to remind clients of appointments and to welcome them with any instructions and serve clients. I imagine these services will resume after covid is more under control. Covid has changed so much for service oriented businesses. The last note is that this root touch up and highlights for just the top of my head to mask the grey cost more than I have ever spent on this exact service. ( probably double ) I guess you get what you pay for. Jack has decades of experience. I feel it's important to add this to the review. Check the prices before you book. Sabrina did a wash, haircut, and style for me included in the haircut service she provides and she did an amazing job. I love how she cut my hair and she really was patient to make my bangs just the right length for me as I kept changing my mind to cut them shorter. I love how she cared about what I was comfortable with and didn't do anything before I approved it was ok! She's very sweet and talented. I had found out about her through a friend who also had a beautiful haircut from her. My friend got a different length haorcut but still got layers like I wantsd and it looked fantastic! read more

Tiffany is a great stylist! I went to her when the salon was open before it COVID ( past due review, sorry!). She was very knowledgeable, polite, and very great at recommending a cut for me. I had a lot of breakage from over dyieng in the past, so even though I am a long-hair person, I decided to get a shorter haircut. I was nervous about this, but Tiffany did a great job- I love my haircut! She elevated my look for sure. The salon was beautiful, the other stylist were friendly and I recommend this salon any day. I followed my favorite hair stylist Star( Setareh ) from Hair International at Stanford shopping center to Jax salon. Star is amazing . She has magical fingers and can turn any dull difficult hair into beautiful hair. I don't trust hair stylists with my hair normally because I have frizzy crazy hair that is very difficult to work with but Star has changed my hair with her haircuts and treatments into manageable pretty hair. I love it. This was my first time at Jax salon. The atmosphere was relaxing and homey and no wait time. I was done quickly which is perfect for a busy schedule. read more

This was my first time to Jax, and I walked away with the best haircut I've had in years. Jack took a long time on the front end to talk about what I wanted and to offer his much needed advice on how to volumize my otherwise very fine hair. He was really straight up about what products I did and did not need on a daily basis, which I was really grateful for, because sometimes at salons I feel like the stylist is just trying to sell you things. She corrected my color which was a deep red and transformed it carefully and precisely to the color I requested. I walked out of that salon so incredibly ecstatic and confident!! SETAREH IS AMAZING! After spending a sad amount of time and money trying other local salons, I was left with hair I was never completely happy with thanks to stylists who didn't really care and didn't really know what they were doing. Setareh listened to exactly what I wanted and not only did she fix the mistakes of other stylists in one try, she did a PERFECT job. EXACTLY what I asked for. She really is an artist. Jack is the best! The salon is gorgeous first of all, and not only is Jack great for conversation, but he is a master of hair. I have had several hair artists over the years, and inevitably leave them when they triple book me, or try some funky thing on my hair that breaks my trust. Not here - Jack believes women should have hair that men will love to look at, and always wants you to look sexy and beautiful. He is GREAT with color - so experienced! Tiffany has been cutting my hair for a few years now. I tried to go to a different stylist, when my office moved to SF, but no one compared. I now drive to Menlo Park to see her every 5 weeks. I always leave loving my hair and feeling so good and happy. She is as good with color as she is with cutting. If I bring a picture in, not only does she make my hair look like the picture, but usually better! I have sent many friends to Tiffany and they all swear by her. She is a hidden gem in Menlo Park. Nicole is amazing! I had to write this review for her after seeing her consistently for more than a year and always leaving so happy with her work. In addition to solid cuts, she is a fantastic colorist! She is a great listener and truly wants to understand what you're looking for. At the same time, she is always very thoughtful and creative about what would work best for my coloring, etc...which is not a quality every stylist has. Nicole is truly a professional!
