I came to this salon for months because Melissa is wonderful and truly knows how to work with curly…read morehair. She is not the issue here. The problem is the salon's management and their decision to upcharge me simply because I have curly hair. At a previous appointment, I was told that I would be charged more next time because my hair "takes longer." My hair is average in length and fullness, not thick or coarse. I only get a blowout with a flat iron add on, which they do not even list as a service. Despite that, I decided to return and accept a small increase. Instead, they added almost 80 dollars to my service, bringing the total to 186 dollars for a basic blowout and flat iron. I have been to celebrity stylists in Malibu who charge far less for the same thing. Their justification that my hair takes longer is not accurate. My hair has never taken more than 1.5 hours at any salon, including this one. It feels unfair and uninclusive to suddenly raise prices on clients with curly hair after months of consistent appointments. I expected better from a business in Belmont. I hope they reconsider how they treat clients with textured hair. Curly hair should not come with a penalty. Here are previous booking receipts to show how much my service used to cost and the 72% price increase that they told me would occur next time

I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

Nobody rushed me with "hello what do you want" or shoved a color wall in my face before I even sat down. I actually felt like a person, not just another number to get in and out. Towels were fresh, equipment looked properly cleaned, none of that murky blue water sitting in a dirty container that's clearly been there for who knows how long. Even the bathroom was clean, and that alone tells you a lot about how a place is really run. In the month of November Hyatt s Hair Studio brought to the community the 2nd Annual Women's day for the Women of the Epiphany center. This event incorporates other salons in the neighborhood to help bring love and support to women who have experienced traumatizing life changing events, but through the Epiphany Center have been given the opportunity to get back on their feet. The annual women's event allows the women in the community to get out and experience love in an environment where they can feel comfortable while getting their hair done, having an ultimate spa experience without the spa. They were given food and hip hairstyles in a fun and protected environment where the act and joy of giving was the main motivation for the event. Ms. Jill, the master hairstylist, quotes the scripture Matthew 25:35-37,40 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.' as one of her base scriptures for the event. She also believes in the quotation as originated by "Breakthrough Ministries" that says "Women God has not forgotten you" accompanied by the famous scripture Jeremiah 29:11 that says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[a] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. I've been a client of Hyatt's Hair Studio for over 10 years now. With saying that, I am more than pleased with their service. They've come to know my style before I even have to tell them.
