I'm not often dumbfounded and mind blown, yet those are the exact sentiments after leaving Jay Alexander's show just now. Mind you when I watch these things on tv, I'm definitely a skeptic. I have no idea how he does it all but one thing is very clear: he is very good at what he does. You can tell this show is a result of hard work, passion and skills that have been honed and polished for years and years. The humor and authenticity were the cherry on top. I was part of a bigger group coming tonight and never did it not feel intimate or covid safe. The venue is stunning as well. I really appreciated the card tricks before the show started. We were visiting San Francisco from out of state for a long weekend. My wife found show online and booked it. We arrived early so we could get drinks and an appetizer. Jay came out and met with everyone and performed a few tricks with every group before the show started. The theater was very intimate and Jay was very personal. We saw Jay last Saturday night at his subtle Moroccan club- it was an amazing experience! Hands-down, the best magic show we had ever seen. The intimate theatre made it a far more personable encounter-- and his workmanship and craft were astounding. I don't want to give anything away, but we were talking about the show for days after and still puzzling over how Jay did some of the magic acts right in front of our eyes. 5 stars not enough. (This is related to Marrakech magic theatre show) Incredibly value for the $ spent. He is truly a master in his craft. Jaw dropping and disbelief are just 2 of the words that come to mind. But also heart felt, passionate and sincere. You can really see his love of magic. An inspiring show. The drink pours were very generous and the food tasty. I recommend getting there before the show as soon as the doors open. You will have time for food/drink, get a good seat and meet Jay before the show. He really goes out of his way to entertain and make you feel a part of the show. Important practical things- drinks can be brought into the show, but last call is 20 minutes before showtime, so make sure you order what you want early. The only constructive critique I could recommend to make it better is silly and not that important, but, I think the lighting could be better in the lounge area pre-show. It is a little dim and the quality of light is muddy. I think some more spot lighting or pendants above the tables would make it look even more professional and add to the atmosphere. So grateful to have stumbled upon this show. It's DEFINITELY a great place to bring visiting friends/family if you live here. Or if just visiting SF such a unique, intimate and special venue/show to attend. I will definitely be coming back. Also big thanks to Jay, we came down with Covid just before the show. He responded so quickly and gave us a rain check to attend later. We brought some friends with us to make it even more fun! Great place for a date or double date. Mind-blowing! One of the best, if not THE best, magic shows I've ever seen. Jay is extremely talented at what he does and knows how to entertain. I appreciated how the show was small and intimate, having many guests participate in his tricks including myself. My partner and I still have no idea how he pulled off some of his acts. It's no surprise that his resume has included the biggest names in the industry. He has a really cool story that inspires us all.
