Just ok food friendly staff but step up the food this restaurant location changes ownership too frequently

This review is for delivery. I ordered via DoorDash, and the food was delivered on time and well-packaged. I ordered a nevaeh pizza, daisy palino pizza, and caesar salad. Everything was pretty tasty. Their thin crust is really thin, so only order that if you want a nearly paperthin crust. The daisy palino pizza was surprisingly good, and even better heated up the next day. It's sort of like carbonara on a crust, but with bacon instead of pancetta. The caesar is not a traditional caesar. I did not like it, would have liked more citrus and umami anchovies instead of sweet dried fruit. I'm interested in trying out Jay Luigi in person. read more

Wow I cannot recommend this place enough! The patio is GORGEOUS!!! And the inside is an absolutely video with the ambience lighting, Aperol spritz, and great playlist! I was able to meet a few of the owning and managing team while there and they were awesome with the recommendations and shared that they get the freshest ingredients and source their yeast from Italy)! I had the Palino, side salad and two slides of pizza, the daily bread, espresso martini, orange you glad to see me cocktail, and limoncello cake! It was all great, the star of the show was the freshness of the bread and that cake (drools)! Highly recommend everything! The 516 salad is a great combination of flavors and fresh ingredients (like antipasti but BETTER!) and I had two slices of the Stella pizza (hot honey takes it to the next level!). The daily bread is so good, I could just come and eat just that it's so good and they pair it with a chimichurri style olive oil. Cocktails were great! The limoncello cake is to die for!! Def visit! Phone did not eat first! This was our third time at Jay Luigi's, and it's always been fantastic. The service is awesome--super friendly and quick. Truly love Jay Luigi's! Not only are the prices extremely reasonable, the restaurant itself is gorgeous and the food is actually very good. We went for my friends birthday this week and they let us bring our own cake in because she is gluten free. The bread appetizer was 10/10 and my Italian salad was great. read more

My friends and I used to love Luv Child, so I had to check out the place that replaced it. Walking in, I immediately noticed the differences in the paint job and furniture, which gave it a new feel. We decided to try the pizza Tracy Blanco, but honestly, it didn't blow me away. It was good, but nothing that stood out as mind blowing. The service was really good, and I appreciated the friendly and attentive staff. I'm glad I gave Jay Luigi a try to see check it out but I wouldn't rush back for the Tracy Blanco alone. Visited this location for my friend's birthday back in February and then I recently went to a yelp event and was reminded of how good food was. The samples that they handed out was the exact meal I ordered. Rigatoni pasta with vodka sauce. They also have this amazing bread with their homemade herb sauce, which is so delicious. It's like a super flavorful pesto sauce or something, but literally one of the best sauces I have ever eaten and I mix studying with the pasta put it on my bread I even save some to mix with other foods that I didn't get from there lol that's how good it is. Definitely a place you should check out. Unfortunately, the rigatoni doesn't automatically come with any protein so you have to add that on. I would suggest the meatballs. I ended up getting the chicken, but didn't really care for it because it had a sweet aftertaste that threw me off. But when I threw it on that herb sauce from the dipping bread, it completely fixed it. I don't recall the name of the drink I had, but that was also really good too. Jay Luigi absolutely delivered. I ordered the Hell's Chicken and the Tiramisu French Toast, and both were incredible. The chicken had the perfect heat with crispy edges and juicy flavor, while the French toast was rich, creamy, and not overly sweet--dessert for brunch done right. The atmosphere was laid-back but stylish, and the service was quick and friendly. You can tell they care about the details, from presentation to flavor. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. One of my favorite happy hours in all of Tampa! The rigatoni with creamy tomato vodka and daily bread are necessary orders every time

Hyde Park, Tampa along S Howard is a great spot, a young crowd (and older like me) with lots of neat restaurants, bars, and shops. Met my buddy for Happy Hour at Green Lemon (Mexican) for starters and were feeling like dinner. My buddy is full time Tampa and I'm a former resident and frequent visitor so he recommended we walk up the street a couple of blocks to Jay Luigi serving an Italian menu. Great, I was in the mood for Italian. I recognized it from the outside right away. This location has been at least 3 different themes/names over the past 20 years. I can remember in early 2000's eating there and actually met Phil Esposito, the famous hockey player, who at that time was with the Tampa Lighting organization. He actually sat with us golf buddies and shared a drink and hockey stories with us. Great memory! Walked in to a remodeled interior and festive environment and sat at the bar and we each ordered our favorite Italian dish along with a dinner cocktail. His was Pasta Milanese and mine was Chicken Parm (I like to compare Chicken Parm restaurant by restaurant). Service was prompt and friendly. The environment was a good vibe and could see many folks enjoying themselves. Food was served relatively fast considering the crowd, food was hot, plenty, and was very good! Reasonably priced dinner and drinks for the Tampa city and post Covid and would definitely return. (sorry, no pics). Enjoy! read more

This place just opened recently, and we finally got to try it tonight. The service was excellent, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and kind. The restaurant has a bunch of seating inside and outside. We ordered some pasta entrees and both of us thought they were delicious! I will say I was impressed by the dietary markings on the menu for vegan, gluten free and vegetarian. Most of the pastas are vegetarian with an option to add whatever protein you'd like. They also offer gluten free pasta! We also got dessert and the limoncello cake and pistachio gelato were amazing. I'd definitely come back to try some more dishes! read more

The food was great, we really enjoyed the pizza and pasta and our waitress was very nice. That's where the two stars come from. Everything else was bad. We did not make a reservation for early evening (it felt like we were judged for that?) and were told from the beginning that there is a time limit to be seated indoors and that they had multiple reservations coming. They put us at a tiny bar right behind the front desk and our view was the kitchen staff. We got the "first hand look" of the operation they have in the kitchen. There were tables that remained open for the entirety of our time there so we weren't sure why we were put at the "kids table" of the restaurant. Apparently reservations are a must here, so know that before going. read more

The other one is still preferred by me for when I want or more casual service which I appreciate more for regular visits. A completely different vibe from the preceding concept by Ciccio that was luv child but love how they have transformed the place. Our server was exceptional and was very welcoming and informative as it was our first time there. The bread was very good as well as the creamy dipping sauce that was one of the options to pair it with. The carbonara was okay, it was not a traditional carbonara which was a bit but it wasn't bad I was just expecting a little more of the traditional dish than what came out. Thoroughly enjoyed Jay Luigi! I made reservations for 7pm on a Tuesday with my family. We were quickly seated quickly. Our waitress was super friendly! I loved her recommendations. My husband ordered the creamy tomato vodka pasta with breaded chicken. He loved it. Had all the right flavors. He had a side of broccolini. It was okay but i felt that it needed some cheese. I ordered the drunken mushroom pasta. I substituted the standard noodles that came with the dish for gluten free fettuccine noodles. I also added the salmon which was the perfect combination for that dish. I got the ciccio house salad and added cheese to it. It was okay. Wasn't my fav though. My kids ordered the pizza. One cheese and one pepperoni. The kids drinks are not included in the kids meal. They pretty much got half a pizza in which they enjoyed. We topped off our meal with the limoncello cake. It was the perfect amount of sweetness. It was inhaled lol overall it was a great vibe to enjoy a nice dinner with my fam. We celebrated our anniversary here. Really, not quite a 4 star experience but I rounded up. Went for brunch recently with a friend. Firstly, to compensate for the postage-stamp parking lot, they offer valet parking. A good idea, except that the charge is steep for the privilege of dining at their restaurant. The dining room is attractive but loud. Our server was pleasant but slow to service the table. I had the teeny tiny, very lemony Corpse Reviver, meh, and my friend had the Pistachio Espresso Martini, which she enjoyed. We split a caesar salad, pasta carbonara, and an order of "Daily Bread." The server had each dish divided on to two plates, which was gratifying. The generous Caesar Salad was delicious. The addition of the almonds and the dried cherries made it exceptional. The Bread itself was warm and yummy. Two of the three spreads were yummy as well, but the "pomodoro fondue" tasted like canned tomato soup. I was looking forward to the pasta carbonara, because they say the pasta is shaped with a special device. The pasta was indeed toothsome, but the sauce was unremarkable and the dish was cold by the time it reached us. I had a better experience some time ago at the Jay Luigi in St. Pete. I will probably choose St. Pete again. read more
