Discovered this place on Classpass and it might be my new go to. A little on the expensive side but the portions are huge. We tried the quesadilla, tlayuda tradicional, and meaty fries. Didn't expect The tlayuda traditional to be so big so splitting it in 2 and eating it with the meaty fries was enough. It had a lot of meat. Good flavors. The crunchy tortilla was a little chewy or tough at the edges but I think that's how it is. My favorite out of the 3 items would have to be the meaty fries! They used seasoned fries and their toppings were saucy and cheesy! The carne asada was soft and tender too. It's my new go to spot for carne asada fries. Service was good. We were, once again, looking for lunch after a doctor's appointment for mom. Her mobility is getting more challenging so it's critical that we park as close as possible to wherever it is that we're going. I had been thinking of a restaurant in Millbrae, but parking was impossible. I ended up driving to Burlingame. I grabbed the first parking space that I could and then we used yelp to find a place to eat. There were a few places nearby but then I opened my eyes are realized that we were parked in front of a Mexican restaurant. We looked it up on yelp and it has a decent rating. There were a couple of tables for two in front so our dog would be comfortable sitting with us. I borrowed one chair from the other table and mom and I sat down while my wife went inside to get a closer look at the menu. Then she came out and took the dog while I took a look. When I came back out, we figured out what we would order. After she placed the order and paid, she came back out with an order number that she placed on the table. After short wait, drinks were served. Then two of our dishes, and immediately after, the third dish as well as set-ups and extra napkins. Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Sauce, Rice, Beans and Salad - 5 - Mom ate all the rice, some beans and one enchilada and said that she enjoyed it. The reality is that she ate 2/3's of the enchilada because she kept pulling out the chicken and feeding it to the dog. I had the rest the next day after microwaving it and it was delicious! Super Nachos - 5 - Every now and then, my wife likes to go off the reservation and order Nachos. To me, they're just an appetizer but she wanted it for a meal so there you go. She enjoyed it immensely although she only managed to finish 1/2 of it. Quesabirria Tacos - 5 - I was slightly disappointed when they arrived at the table. Whoever assembled them must have poured a bit of consommé onto them before laying them down on their sides. Because of this, the downside of the tortilla soaked up the liquid and was kind of soft and mushy while the top side was nice and crunchy. The cheese pull was ridiculous. Too much of the wrong kind of cheese. Felt like I was eating a slice of Cheese Pizza. BUT, the beef was fantastic. The consommé was the best that I can remember ever enjoying. It was so beefy! Pretty solid taqueria. Ordered their super burrito with carne asada and extra sour cream. Compared to the low rated reviews, my burrito was filled with lots of carne asada. Meat was cooked well and juicy. Was surprised when the plate came with plain tortilla chips with no salsa, but they do offer both red and green bottles of salsa. I paid $21 (including tip) for a very small, average-to-below average lengua super burrito. Tons of rice. Unremarkable flavor. Some of the lengua was COLD. Mist have been prepared earlier in the week. Thick, stodgy tortilla (it was almost all tortilla and rice). It came with 6 tortilla chips. Salsa is $3 extra. If you want to spend $20 on basically a bad tortilla, rice, and a tiny bit of leftover meat then check out Jayli's. read more

After a successful day at a card show, I was yearning for some Quesabirrias tacos. I think it's becoming a tradition to eat that after a card show now that I think about it. Parking is street parking. No parking lot. Things fill up fast. I lucked out on a non-busy early evening and found a spot quick. Inside there are a ton of tables. There's a restroom. The menu is large enough to see. They got other pictures showing their specials like the churros. The Quesabirrias were delicious. So nice and cheesy. The food was ok, but comparing to other Mexican restaurants was pretty disappointing in my opinion. The shrimp super nachos was exceptionally delicious, with very generous portion of shrimps. The Mole plate was spicy and chicken pieces were very small. The steak fajitas was so tough and not bitable. This review is strictly for their drinks. My friends and I were looking at agua frecas because we were thirsty and the agua frescas here are homemade and taste really good. Good fresh Mexican food. This place started as a food truck that was very popular and now they have a very nice restaurant. The fish and shrimp tacos were excellent. The Tlayuda was also very good with three different kinds of beef and pork along with Oaxaca cheese. The green sauce was very good but be warned the red sauce is incredibly hot (and I like spicy!). My only complaint is no complementary chips and salsa with the meal. Next time I want to try to Quesabirrias and the Sopes. Overall very good. Everything looked fresh -- the onions were crisp, the food was hot, and at first glance, it had potential. But man... those tacos were dry as hell. Like choking hazard dry. I had to drown them in salsa from that little green container just to get through it. No sour cream, no cheese, not even offered. Why would you serve tacos like that? Honestly, it should be illegal to hand out something that dry without a drink or at least a warning. It looked fine, but eating it was a struggle. The aguas frescas were the only part of the meal that was actually enjoyable -- cold, flavorful, and refreshing. But the tacos? Big disappointment, never again. read more

I got to try Jayli's Cocina and has been on my bookmarks ever since it first opened a few months ago. I absolutely loved my first visit here and this is a great addition to Broadway, Burlingame. This area is one of the top areas to go for lunch during work days and Jayli's Cocina satisfied my Mexican food cravings in a big way. The store is super clean while also being really well furnished and decorated. Definitely enough seating inside. You order at the cashier and the customer service is overall very friendly and helpful. What my table ordered: - Quesadilla with Lengua ($16.50) - Taco Plate with Asada ($12) I got to try the Quesadilla with Lengua and who doesn't love some beef tongue? I hear crickets...but I promise it's really good. They honestly do a great job preparing and cooking their beef tongue. It really gave the Quesadilla a really soft texture while not beng overwhelming in flavor. They give you a really generous amount of food too. The Quesadillas also cost $13.50 if you order other meats that are lets say less exotic like the Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas, etc. Can't go wrong with any of their options. Quesadillas were also very cheesy and you get a nice cheese pull with each bite. I personally got the Taco Plate with two tacos which I opted for Asada. The cashier will also ask if you want spicy or mild for the sauces for the taco or quesadilla. You can ask for no spicy too. The taco plate is honestly pretty good value for the price with it being $12 for two tacos, Mexican rice, beans, and a small salad. The tortillas for the tacos were amazing. The Asada wasn't overly salty and had a good amount of moisture. It's still early and I haven't gone to Jayli's Cocina multiple times yet, but I have to say this is a great start and I would absolutely return for some authentic Mexican food and street tacos. 10/10 experience overall. read more

I miss Mexican restaurant that was in this space close to a decade ago and served amazing fresh items like squash blossom quesadillas. with intricate handmade sauces, but Jayil's is pretty decent. I would choose to order something different next time as I understand that this restaurant specializes in specialties from Oaxaca. I ordered the Jayil's Burrito, which features shrimp steak and chicken in a super burrito. , I was expecting a ton of protein and a lot of flavor. i remember ordering the " triple threat" from Papalote and sharing the monster stuffed burrito with friends. Surprisingly this burrito was quite rice and bean forward. This was not necessarily bad, as Jayil's rice and black beans are delicious and not overly salty as I find most Mexican restaurant's rice in particular. The shrimp was smaller, bay shrimp and was another prominent ingredient. Cheese was definitely plentiful as well. The burrito was a decent size and filling, but I detected almost no salsa, nor a trace of guacamole. The chicken and beef were very finely diced to the extent that I could not really judge the flavor or either because they were masked by all the other ingredients. A delicious early dinner,and good value for the money at $19 compared to the gargantuan and exorbitant Triple Threat burrito at well over $30. However, even though I loved Jayil's beans and rice, they were too prominently featured. Service was good and the restaurant was spotless. Definitely worth another try. read more

We ordered mole (not spicy as other reviews stated), street taco plate (tasty and filling), super taco (with all of the sour cream, cheese and simply stuff), and a fish burrito which was filled with fish.
