Both dishes were generously portioned and lighter eaters could easily share. Second visit we opted for pho noodle soup on this unusually cold Myrtle Beach day! The server recommended the beef stew pho with the slow roasted beef (yeah twist my arm) and my hubby got the chicken which featured dark meat--a whole drumstick and other off the bone choices. There was so much roast beef and noodles! Again, even healthy appetites could've shared! The broth was everything pho is supposed to be, noodley, salty, hot, and chock full of green onions and sprouts! The flavor!!! My husband asked how my dish was and I described it as a warm hug in a bowl. The requisite plate of Thai basil, lime wedges and more sprouts as well as a sideboard of spicy add-ins were brought to the table. Enjoyed a 1/2 price pinot noir, the drink specials seem to change daily. Having moved from Northern Virginia and the convenience of a robust SE Asian population and food scene, we are blown away by Thai in Town--a treasure in North Myrtle! Go there. Eat much!

I've lived in the Calabash area for almost 8 years now and I've heard others talk about this restaurant before, but just never had the chance to try it out until recently. I've missed a lot over those 8 years. Jay's is a great place. Not only is the food excellent, but the staff is knowledgeable, kind, courteous and professional, but the decor is modern, simple and "Asian." I consider myself a lover and somewhat of a connoisseur of Japanese and Thai food, but the fact that they have an extensive menu from those two cultures as well as a Chinese menu is wonderful. Of course what do I know. I'm American and only know what I eat in American restaurants featuring Asian foods Asians think Americans want to eat. Some of these items you probably wouldn't find in their native lands. The food was presented professionally. I've now eaten at Jay's twice and have lunch date there again today! Last time I ordered the bento box and loved the onion soup, the California roll and the shrimp teriyaki. Yum! I can't wait to return today. Maybe I'll sample the Thai menu... We went to jays for sushi. We wanted our favorite roll but it wasn't on the menu. Our waiter said that they could make anything that we wanted and made a really delicious roll. (We had the salmon rum and tekka maki roll inside out with avacado and cream cheese). The food was fresh and we really enjoyed the service. You may order as much as you want but it's considered exceptionally rude to waste food. Think of it as a buffet but instead of walking steam tables, you select what you want and it's prepared and brought to you. If you don't know what you like, try from 1-2 piece selections first. Pay attention to the * on items. There's a clear warning that raw and undercooked dishes have some risks. If you have weak tummy or immune, don't eat those. Also use caution if you have strong allergies - especially shellfish - as that's a common worry with any sushi/sashimi place. These dishes lean "California Style" but cover most diets. You will have a much better experience if you don't over-order any round. It's not expensive unless you've never eaten in the Grand Strand. Especially buffet style. There is no buffet that allows you to share a plate or take-home free. This IS a buffet just with a different food service model than most are accustomed to. It's also not a place for kids unless you know they eat this menu. They'll complain and you'll pay too much for it. Ambiance can be very nice and borders intimate.
