Waited for hour and ten minutes but never got called even though there were plenty of tables. They lost my name and never offered us a table

This place far exceeded expectations. The truffle bulgogi fries were one of the best things I've had in a long time. The sushi was delicious. i am so upset. Whide visiting our grandchildren we ordered from Ninjia Express. When our granddaughter went to pick up the food, she was told the order was at Jays (same owners). She picked it up and it was $144. At Ninjia it was supposed to be $65. Manager at Ninjia said there was a problem with their online website that rolls over to Jay's. We were told to call Jay's. Jay's said their food was better quality and that's why it cost more. We didn't want Jay's and we didn't get Jay's menu. There were no salads and soup that would have come with the meal at Jay's. We got exactly what we would have gotten at Ninjia, except for an egg on top. I feel so ripped off. Highly do not recommend this unethical franchise. read more

I've been to Jay's Kitchen multiple times and every time has been fantastic. The sushi is delicious and FRESH! We had Louise as our server today and she was so sweet and attentive to us. And of course The Don was our incredible sushi chef and HE FREAKING ROCKS (always). Thanks for always making it a great experience. read more

I had lunch there a few weeks back. I really enjoyed it and the prices were on par for the food. I had dinner there tonight and was shocked by the prices. It was expensive and the quality of the food didn't seem higher to me. That being said. The restaurant itself is beautiful and unique. Maybe tonight was an off night in the kitchen, but I don't think I will be back. I much prefer his burger and sushi bar downtown. read more

This place is my favorite restaurant in Goldsboro. The food is outstanding! Whenever we have out of town guest this is the place we take them. My sister just introduced me to the patron roll and it is absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Had dinner there a week ago and was a bit disappointed. Glasses on the table were dirty, service was kind of slow and wasn't even busy. Daughter got sushi and said it was "okay" and I got Bibimbap which was also "okay". Not what we usually experience here but this is the second time everything has been mediocre. read more

Food and sushi is always great. We just get different levels of service every time. Also, some of the servers either need to wear less perfume/cologne or needs to wear deodorant. Which isn't great for working in the food industry. read more

Went here tonight in hopes of getting a nice meal, good service. Anything but. We called just to see what the wait time was. The girl who answered said "there is no wait time for 3 people right now" we were already in the parking lot so of course we went in. We asked for a table for 3. They then told us the wait time would be 20-30 minutes. I mentioned we just called and were told there would be no wait time. The girl at the front laughed and basically acted like it wasn't in the realm of possibility that we were told that. So we said okay that's fine. We gave them our number and sat down to wait. The whole time we were waiting which was a lot longer than stated the girl and her friends were laughing and staring at us like we were from another planet. The wait staff had no clue whose table was whose. Tables waiting for over 20 mins just for drinks because the waiters/waitresses didn't know that table was for them. I also would like to add they didn't seem too busy. Empty tables everywhere. That just weren't cleared. read more

I took my kids to eat sushi tonight which we like to do at least twice a month since it's quiet pricey. Our server Elizabeth was awesome and we were greeted as soon as I walked into the restaurant. However, during tonight service that was an issue and we never received our appetizer. When the manager came over to inquire about the issue, he acknowledged and asked if I wanted him to remove it, I said yes you can. I was extremely disappointed in his resolve and would have declined a free appetizer since we were already eating our meal, but felt he could of at least offered. I worked in Customer Service for years and that's a major factor when deciding where to spend my money. I recently retired from the military and relocated back to Goldsboro and have been going to eat at this establishment since it was called Sumo. I definitely will not be going back. Can anyone recommend a good sushi spot? read more

So I am not one to complain for restaurants and I am very tolerant of restaurants because I know the struggle of the food industry. However I have been to this place twice and seated to a table when it's not busy and received no service for 25 minutes. We had to be asked if we had been helped. They said they would get the server but still no one came. The food is overpriced and the service is not on par with attending to its customers. read more

Dissapointed in my first visit to Jays. Started with a primo parking space at the front door reserved for Jay, that spot should be for guests. Food was very good, had several sushi rolls. Buisness was very slow for a Friday night, I can see why. Service was slow, wait time for sushi at 30 minutes is crazy. Saw one couple get up and walk out after waiting over 15 minutes with no service. Our server had hair scrunchies on her wrists, not vey professional or appetising. Watched bus boys wipe food from table tops straight on the floor. Our server brought our two dipping sauce dishes with rice ond other foods in them from previous use. So not only were they dirty but she didn't check them. Light fixtures in the big dinning room were dusty and in need of cleaning. There were several light bulbs out. I was expecting big things but turns out to be just another Wayne county below average experiance. Oh, the manager on duty looked like he was ready to fight.
