This was my third time at Jazba and as always the food and drinks were amazing. We really like the idea of them bringing the Indian street style food to NYC. The casual ambience only adds to the delectables being served. Some of our favorites are the empire friend chicken, galouti kebab, kachori kadhi bhujje, basket chaat and aslam's butter chicken. The green chilli chicken is amazing but so spicy (we liked it ). We also ordered the peepaywale wadi aloo (so authentic, sourced from the city of wadi in India - Amritsar and cooked with fingerling potatoes to keep the crunch). We also ordered Lotan ke chole and paanch patte ka saag (this needs some more tadka as it was more on the sweeter side) and murgh mullah pyaza (we always gets this). We went here for lunch on a Saturday after having read some great reviews on Google. I must say we were excited and boy was it an amazing lunch experience. We tried the adraki punch cocktail and it was refreshing- I personally would have preferred it to be a lil strong on the vodka but it was nice. We ordered the surat ka bread roll and galouti kebabs for apps and loved every bit of it - the flavors of the galouti kebabs blew my mind. For mains, we ordered the mathura ke bedmi aloo puri and it was exactly as we imagined it to be. The star of the dish for me was the murgh dum biryani - I can now say that Jazba has one of the best biryanis that I have tasted in NYC - simple, not too heavy on the spices but every bit delicious with well cooked, melt in the mouth chicken pieces. The ambiance here is great as is the food. I had the empire chicken and the chicken was cooked very well. Basically fell off the bone. The drinks I had were OK, nothing special frankly (although the presentation was good). The place is a little more expensive for what you get, but that's a lot of Manhattan spots. Gorgeous space with vibrant ambiance and a good amount of bar seating. The drinks are STRONG so they're definitely worth the price. But the "full ride" dishes (the mains) were surprisingly small in size and very expensive. We got the kokam and the Mumbai margarita. I've also had the adraki punch which I preferred over the other two cocktails! For our dish we got the butter chicken and added rice. I'd recommend not doing that because it comes with roti. It was super delicious but only comes with 4 pieces! I think it was a great experience and would come back again but still think the portions can be larger given the prices. read more

We initially made a reservation at Bungalow on Wednesday(april 17th) but cancelled it because a friend recommended Jazba instead. Decided to have few cocktails at the bar before we get seated to our table. The two gentlemen at the bar were super loud and obnoxious. And the guy in a suit(I'm assuming that's the manager) were laughing along with them! They were sitting right near by the door and everyone around them were shaking their head! Recently opened in our neighborhood, but hadn't investigated yet, as it seemed too crowded almost immediately. We dropped in without a reservation, and were kindly told that unfortunately, they were too busy to accommodate us. As we headed out the door, he kept looking at the reservation page on his IPad. He called us back in to show us that a table had just paid their bill and he'd be able to seat us - but he had to accommodate another reservation in an hour, so he would give us the table if we could do our best to eat within an hour. For us, this welcoming and accommodating level of customer service is a major reason why we will frequent any business. (The food and drink menu don't hurt either). We had a great meal with cocktails, and will definitely return again when we have more time to explore the unusual menus. We were out the door in 58 minutes without feeling rushed, so it is possible if you want a quick bite. read more

Really nice to try different varieties of Indian food that aren't Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer, and instead get varieties from India's vast, diverse ranges of cuisine. Food was delicious although I found some of the offerings to be a little heavy on the masala. The food was amazing. Best items we had: Empire chicken, Korma, Murgh Mullah, Atari paneer. Not too spicy and not mild either. Perfect food! 10/10! The roomali roti with the korma is perfect pairing. The goat in the korma is some of the best I have ever had. So delicious. (We also ordered the Lotan chole, which were okay but not nearly as good as the other food we ordered) Cocktails are also very good here. The mixologist is award-winning and you can tell. I asked the bartender for the most light and refreshing cocktail and got the Mulethi. It was delicious. Came with a tuile! The service was fantastic as well. It is definitely a well-oiled machine. We broke a glass at my table and they brought us new tableware and glasses. They were very nice about it and exercised extreme safety. I also had some allergies, and this place was more careful and precautious about my allergies than most restaurants in Manhattan. They checked on every menu item we ordered, and double-checked again when the food was brought out. Overall, this is one of the best Indian restaurants (if not my new favorite) in Manhattan. So lucky this gem is in the East Village. If you can get a reservation here, GO! And don't be afraid to order more than you think you need. So much to try here. read more
