What an incredible evening dining at Chef Aarthi Sampath's Dravida! We had reservations and were immediately seated as we arrived on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was reasonably packed but seating is spacious so it didn't feel cramped. Our seat was right next to the kitchen and it was fun seeing the staff cook the Khmeri roti in the pizza oven. The menu is so diverse and eclectic and I loved that the chef stopped by and explain how growing up she loved sharing and tasting from her friends tiffins that allowed her to expand her palette, and how she's wanted to recreate that through the menu at Dravida. Every dish seemed to have a story. The highlight for us for the evening were the desserts - each better than the prior! We left satiated and with our tummies and hearts full! This place is going to become by go to, I'm sure! Cannot wait to be back! Until then, kudos, chef Aarthi!

Every aspect of our Gurumé experience was perfection! We arrived without reservation, and were lucky enough to be seated, even though it was very full...I recommend making a reservation, we got lucky. We were seated towards the back of the cozy narrow dining room and immediately greeted with a smile from the awesome waitress Cherry. She was very helpful and informative with the unusual tapas menu. We ordered a selection of items, and each dish was so good! Starting with the brussel sprout starter, which was crispy, bright and delicious. we then ordered tteokbokki, described as a rice cake, but much more like little bowl delicious rice gnocchi with a creamy chase sauce. We followed with jjambong gambas, a creative and tasty shrimp dish, and the seafood ramen, very spicy and a real treat. If you get a chance, do not miss out on this sweet spot. Incredible food, astounding and attentive service, and all in a magical cozy dining room.

But don't let the basement level dissuade you; they really turn their location into a strength. There's a covered "outdoor" section with lots of natural light, and the inside is spacious and modern, with a semi-open kitchen that makes it feel like you're in a place twice its size. The tapas we tried were great. Patatas bravas were crispy on the outside, with a fluffy inside, and maybe a touch too much salt. The hamachi crudo was excellent, with a unique coconut and mango sauce that gave it a touch of sweet to go with the zest. And the pulpo was great, the octopus was well prepared and the sauce was hearty without dominating the taste. The half chicken was the most memorable dish; our server recommended it, and it's clear why. It was unbelievably juicy and tender, with plenty of lemon flavor in every bite. Lots of meat, don't expect a small plate like the other menu items! All in all a good experience in a nice atmosphere, definitely staying on the list for tapas in the future.

To find Debajo you have to find the staircase leading down as this is below ground level - hence the name. MUST GET the patatas bravas - just enough to share between three people but might want to get two orders if your party is more than three. DO NOT GET the queso - it's literally a couple thin slices of cheese, a tiny bowl of almonds, and some tomato mixture. You can add bread for like $7 on top of the original $16 price - actually ridiculous for what you get. The roasted duck breast was flavorful and tender, and the bavette steak was even better. Really great to share as well since they're cut up already. Good vibes in Debajo - would definitely come back again. It was clean and very chic.

FINALLY GOT TO GO!!! all hits, no misses, and the portions were surprisingly massive…read more it was super seafood-forward, but everything tasted so fresh. this literally might be the best squid iv ever had. it was sooo soft and that richness and slight char from the butter really emphasized its freshness without over powering it. and also the mushrooms were surprisingly gas, we were fighting for the last pieces. the dolsot al bap was small in quantity but mighty in flavor. its soo rich and sea-forward with the uni cream and flying fish roe, but the bits of green pepper really cut through the richness and make it an addicting bite. only complaint is why did our uni cream look so deflated ,,, anyways. the duck bulgogi was a bit heavy on the sauce, but i still enjoyed it nonetheless. i like how everything is a classic with a twist, definitely makes the experience worth it in and of itself. however, their menu is quite limited, so i don't know how many times i'll be running this. once you get your foot in the door, the service is quite fast, but the only banchan they give you is fresh kimchi (but its refillable!!!)

Perfectly light combo of sea urchin cream & scorched rice. Unexpectedly delicious and packed with the perfect balance of flavors. Scallop diy gimbap was also very fresh and delicious (first time trying apple kimchi - so good). I had raw seafood for several consecutive meals before this so maybe that's why it didn't stand out as much lol but still yummy. Fried soft shell crab was good, but we definitely overordered for how full we already were, so looking back I would've skipped the crab and been perfectly satisfied.

The patio here is adorable, offering a peaceful, cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of Midtown street and hotel traffic, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. Don't skip out on their Bloody Mary, either! Everything we ordered was phenomenal, but I highly recommend the albondigas (beef and pork meatballs), patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with garlic aioli), coca de costilla (braised short rib flatbread), and the huevos horneados (eggs baked in a savory chorizo and tomato sauce). To finish on a high note, the dulce de leche churros are an absolute must. This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last!

My food finally came and she went back to talking to him and he went back to prepping for the evening I suppose, cutting up fruit (that she started to eat by the way as he was prepping. ) The level of unprofessional behavior blew my mind as he never checked on me. I requested hot sauce and as my glass sat there empty ,eventually had to ask for a glass of water disturbing their conversation once again. It's really a shame as the food was pretty good, (particularly the chicken which I added to my salad) but can never make up for the poor service exhibited today. I have no idea who the young lady is hanging out at the bar engaging with the Bartender maybe the owner's daughter, but I have no clue what role she's performing other than distracting him from doing his job.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the owner, Lorena. She was very cordial, attentive, gave magnificent recommendations, and added to the enjoyment of the meal. I started with a glass of Red Sangria and was blown away by the size. The glass was almost the size of the Bryant Park fountain, the Sangria was sweet and refreshing, and the fruit was abundant. I ordered two tapas: Croquetas de Jamon Serrano (Ham Croquettes) and the Albondigas (Meatballs). The croquettes were nicely presented, I enjoyed the sauces that adorned each croquette, they had a slightly crunchy outer layer, and the serving was four. The meatballs were amazing. Each ball was flavorful, the serving was EIGHT!, and the accompanying sauce was succulent and was enough to fill every piece of bread. For dessert, I had the EZ Flan. This Flan was LARGE enough to share, thick, and the sweet syrup at the bottom of the plate was delicious. The final item was a Cafe con Leche (Coffee with milk). EZ Paella skyrocketed to my #1 choice for tapas and cannot wait to return with friends, so they can echo my adoration of this eatery. P.S. - Please, do yourself a favor and read the history of EZ Paella, which is on the menu. They made it through COVID and have enjoyed consistent success, since.
