I don't know where to start. On a positive note, the management and staff are very customer service oriented. The food...the lowest quality Cajun food I've ever eaten. I've spent about a year in New Orleans over the past 20 years, and have had the best the city has to offer. When I traveled around southern Louisiana outside of New Orleans, I hit gas stations (all gas stations in rural Louisiana have a kitchen and serve Cajun food). So here's my bottom line: I've had around 40 shrimp gas station PoBoys in southern Louisiana, and have had three at Jazz (I tried them three times because I thought maybe the first and second ones were an anomaly...not). Jazz PoBoys aren't even close to gas station ones in Louisiana. And their beignets? Total condensed grease bombs. However, if you are not a Cajun food connoisseur be my guest and do the Jazz thing. Was promised a refund and have yet to receive it and it's been over a month. Have left several messages and the manager has yet to return call. Cajun Stir-Fry, Shrimp Czarina and Gumbo are my go-tos, I frequently get carry out on my drives between St. Louis and Kansas City. I do wish they hadn't closed the [closer-to-KC] Independence location. On Tuesdays I've stopped to get the half-price Chicken a la Mer, when I have time to dine in. Service has always been decent to very good. Decor is very heavy New Orleans and fun, without the LSU, like that restaurant St. Joe Just wish they would print their name on the receipt. First off, the service was really good!!! We had the nicest server, really attentive. As for the food, I got the blackened chicken fettuccine, sooo good. I think next time I'm going to ask if I can add some kind of vegetable but it was still so good as it was. Also, the bread they served before your meal is DELICIOUS, so soft and they give you a really good butter with it. My onlyyyyyy complaint is I didn't like the drink I got, it was a lemonade with vodka I think and it was described as blended, so I assumed that meant blended with ice but it was literally just lemonade with a shot of vodka lol. 6 couples needed a place to eat and hang out and here is where we chose. Very comfortable setting from the moment you walk in. Service was excellent. My wife and I were the 1st of the couples to arrive. I talked to the hostess and she started preparing our area and held it for us until we were ready to be seated. There were many different choices for dinner and all seemed to enjoy their meals. I personally had the chicken à la mer and it was outstanding. My wife had the blackened tilapia and it was very good as well.The white seafood sauce was excellent and I will definitely be eating here again in the very near future. The food here is excellent! However I feel bad for the staff. Each time I've been there, the manager named Brittany is always ringing the bell and being rude and yelling at the service staff. They appear to be working hard and have always been attentive to our needs as customers. But I always have problems enjoying myself in restaurants where managers are horrible to their service staff. This has happened multiple times while we've dined in. Not sure we will be back as her vibe ruins our experience. But the food is awesome. I have been here a fair amount and love the chicken Al a mar. I get it grilled instead of fried and it's super savory. I highly recommend going early on Tuesdays so you can get it half price. We finally tried this place, and we were a bit disappointed to be honest. The ambiance was New Orleans style, Jazz music, Cajun style. The service was good but not great. Our food did take a long time to come out as well. - Gumbo (4/5): The gumbo was delicious. Super flavorful, lots going on. My favorite dish of the night. - Calamari (3.5/5): Crispy and very tasty. There were pieces of what I thought was fried banana peppers in there. They were green/yellow in color compared to the white/light color of the calamari. I asked the waitress, and she said no, she thinks something might have fallen in? But definitely not because there were several that were intentionally fried. So not sure... - Chicken a la mer (2.5/5): Honestly this dish was too salty, and too creamy. I usually love sauce and love to use a lot of it, but this was a bit over the top for me. The chicken itself tasted good. But paired with seasoned rice and all that sauce, it was a bit too overpowering and too salty. - Seafood fettuccine (3/5): This had good overall flavor, just a bit salty in my opinion. Also too creamy, even for Alfredo. We did get the full size, and the portion was huge. Definitely took home leftovers and had several meals out of it. read more

She was extremely pleasant, kept a smile on her face and was all around great! Perfect example of elevated customer service. I enjoyed the atmosphere, New Orleans style. The menu looked fantastic. Too many options to choose from. I asked Tori what her favorite dish was and she suggested the Chicken a La Mer. I couldn't have been more pleased! Jeff, the owner, sings and plays trombone at times. He knows how to schmooze and to encourage the staff to be welcoming and smiling. The food is really special. Everything I've ever ordered is worthy of the Louisiana name, very delicious, with generous portions at a fair price. I used to enjoy going here with my family but over the past few years the service and quality of food has declined.

I've eaten here many times and always loved it. Always plenty of food on the dish and well cooked. Tonight I got a to-go full (rather than half) order of chicken a-la-mer, with grilled instead of fried chicken. I got home and there was barely any chicken, sauce, or rice in the container. The chicken was indeed fried despite my request for grilled. There was a total of two small pieces of shrimp and no crab meat in the sauce. It was just all together a disappointing meal given the standard they set for dining in. My advice is to not get your food to-go from Jazz as they will clearly not meet the same standard as someone dining in. read more

Lee was an amazing bartender and server, she explained the menu and wizzed through customers without making me feel like I was ignored or bothering her. She recommended the Chicken a la Mer, it was perfect portion size for lunch and was a daily deal.
