This is a place I've passed by many times, but didn't know it was there until a friend suggested it. My husband and I went on a Fri. night at 7pm. The place was packed. Or, maybe it just seemed that way since it is a hole in the wall. It has a capacity of maybe 50 patrons. We didn't make a reservation, but was able to get a table. The tables are small, but the chairs are huge and very hard to slide in and out. They are comfy, but big. And it makes it hard for people to pass by you. We spent $70 on wine and tapas. Not because we ate a lot, but everything is so overpriced. We had a total of 3 glasses of wine at $10 - $12 each, Chicken and waffles $15 (3 little cutlets of boneless fried chicken served on 3 little 3-in square waffles with syrup), Steak and blue cheese flat bread $12, Pecan Bread Pudding $8. Everything was delicious, but overpriced. Not to mention, the $5 per person cover and tip. When we left, our bank account was $100 lighter. Definitely not a cheap date. But a nice experience. GREAT LIVE JAZZ! I've lived in Florida for 17 years and this place has to be one of the best jazz spots in the Maitland area. Me and my date ordered chicken and waffles (thumbs down), beef medallions (YUM!), and the shrimp and grits were my FAVORITE. Had a few glasses of wine and then dessert was the creme bruleè, which was also good, but I would suggest a different dessert. The place was packed by 7PM. The lounge is small...the whole place is shaped like a rectangle, but this only adds to its' charm. Make reservations early and request the booth DIRECTLY by the door. Wish we would've had that area. Went to Jazz Tastings tonight for a friends birthday. An hour into being there (two of my friends and i were only inside the establishment for a combined 15 minutes, as we went outside for a bit) we were told there is a $15 minimum per person. After asked if we could apply the whole table check amount to cover the $15 minimum, the manager told us that they wouldn't allow that. We than told the manager that it should have been made clear from the very beginning of the expectations. She than proceeded to tell us that it was told to the birthday girl and it was her responsibility to relay this information to all 25+ of her guests. I explained that it should have also been written on the windedown Wednesday menus and/or also been told to each table. She than said they should have charged the birthday girl a deposit. I reminded the manager that if it hadn't been for the birthday girl the place would be dead. And I also said that she can go ahead and give me a check for $15, but that I would not pay it. She than said she would apply that to the birthday girl's tab and also would press legal charges. I told her to go ahead and call the cops, at this point she walked away without saying anything... They need to clearly state the $15 minimum. It's not about the $, it's about how the manager handled the situation. She could have just said she would allow the total table bill to cover the per person minimum. And/or also inform us of their policy and just ask that we keep that in mind for next time, instead of threatening to put it on the birthday girl's bill and pursuing legal action. Very disappointed how the situation was handled, especially with such a large party and almost everyone had ordered at least one thing to share and a drink. So it's not like we were just sitting there. I didn't want to order anything because of the way the situation was handled. Horrible customer service... oohhh and if you are into waitresses with half of their ass hanging out this would be a great place for you. The waitress dress was very short and it kept riding up as she was walking around. Very classy for a Jazz venue. read more

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Entertainment was enjoyable and server was very attentive but didn't know until after we were seated and eating that there was a $5.00 cover charge per person. Very small place, loved the atmosphere, ambiance and cozy furniture but not enough to go back again. Meat, Cheese and Olive Dish appetizer was prepared like a homemade dish your 10 yr. old could put together. Not from a professional Chef. Very thin uninspired cuts of 2 types of cheese with prosciutto that was not cut thin enough and when taking a bite could not chew through it and some crap salami. They charge an extra $1.25 for 4 tiny pieces of toasted bread to go with it. Calamari appetizer was very rubbery and bland. Rum cake was dry and tasted like an old piece of pound cake with a bland and tasteless sauce. Beer was tasty with a decent variety at $5.00 a bottle- don't order domestic as it's the same price. $85.00 + tip for a few apps, dessert, beer and a coffee. It cries the "I wanna be a trendy place" Keep trying and maybe you will be the little train that could. Inspire the kitchen to be more creative and put out some spectacular dishes. read more

So I took my fiancé there for his birthday and when I made the reservation I stressed that it was his birthday. We arrived and I don't think it was noted that it was his birthday. The food was good but portions was very very small the short rib Mac and cheese literally had one piece of meat in it . The music was awesome though . 4 stars because of the vibe/music. Gets packed, arrive before 8. Prices for a bottle of wine are worth it. A little less inflated than the average restaurant- Most bottles were $36-40. Small tapas portions- you'd have to order $80-100 worth to be full for 2 people. Had calamari & steak bruchetta, they were ok. Steak on the bruchetta a little chewy. You come here to enjoy the music & intimate setting not experience 5 star cuisine but I'm willing to go back & try a few other things on the menu & maybe my opinion of the food will change....Customer service is very good. read more

I loved the atmosphere, the menu was a little different than what was online, as I was informed they change it daily. The live entertainment was great and our server was great. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the lack of vegetarian items on the menu. They were accommodating enough to make adjustments to the cheese plate, which is a perfect appetizer. read more

My wife and I stopped here on the way home from dinner to check it out. She decided to have one glass of house red wine. I had diet coke. We ordered our drinks and asked for the bill. It came out to $40. So now we know there is a $10 cover charge and two drink minimum. If we planned to stay this would have been okay but for one drink this leaves a bad taste. My friends took me there for my birthday. We had reservations but sat for 20 minutes before anyone even noticed us. We ordered drinks and they came at different times and mine came at least 15 minutes after that. We wanted to order food but the server wasn't interested in talking to us. I don't know if it was because the people I was with were black or if they just don't care. Bottom line is this, Terrible service, food was cold, no mention of $5 cover charge when we entered, AND they added a 20% tip to our bill for 6 people. We will NEVER go back. read more

The only reason I will give two stars is because the music is decent and musicians have been friendly. The last time I was here was a couple years ago and had the same unfortunate experience regarding the "happy hour." Despite what is advertised on the website for Wednesdays, the staff did not honor the $6 flatbread or tapas options. Their special menu seemed quite comparable to their regular menu. This same experience occurred in the past where they conveniently changed the specials. In reading other yelp reviews, maybe it is just false advertisement to get people in the door because it keeps occurring. To add to the lack of happy hour, there is the minimum charge per person (which is not difficult to achieve considering their prices). Unfortunately, the staff must have to deal with this complaint often as they responded to the concern defensively. I took my fiance' here for his birthday and he loved it. We were seated right of stage. We were so close that the music resonated so smooth and mellow. The songstress was engaging, funny, and complemented the musicians really well. We ordered the crab cakes and fried green tomatoes. The food was on point and am looking forward to going back soon. There is a $5 per person cover charge, in addition a $15 per person food order minimum. For the professional calibre of entertainment, it is well worth every penny spent. this place was AMAZING!!!! i had tried to go there before but there were no seats open so me and my date left and came back on a different day after making a reservation. The atmosphere was great, the music was excellent (tho i wished there was a saxophone) the vocalist was amazing.. it was just awesome. Even the food was great. I got the eggplant dish and the bread pudding. I liked the bread pudding so much I wanted to get a second helping. The servers were all very attentive. The only things I kind of didnt like was we got a bottle and it was so weak, we didnt even have a buzz after drinking the entire bottle and the food took a crazy long time to come out, but I think there are making everything fresh. Also the band and vocalist took super long breaks. We went on a Saturday and got there early (before 7pm) the place was emptyish when we got there but packed up pretty quickly. Keep in mind that it is tapas, so it's smaller portions, but they charge as thought you received a large portion. Also my last complaint is that they charged my friend for refills for nestle ice tea... Really $6 for two glasses of nestle ice tea ridiculous. This is our 2nd time coming here and the music gets better each time. The atmosphere is just as relaxing as the music. If your looking for a place to listen to some good jazz in a nice upscale/ intimate setting, then you must come experience it for yourself. The wine selections have not been disappointing but the food doesn't quite meet the expectations of everything else (upscale). Also, be prepared to pay an extra $5 per person (added to your bill) during any live music performance. read more

This is a neighborhood gem! Let me start with the ambiance which is romantic if you are in good company and exhilarating if you are just chilling at the bar. I had the great opportunity to listen to Rodriguez and his band. The music was phenomenal. The wine selection was of great variety. Last but not least, the food was five-star all the way. Sadly Disappointing! I used to frequent Jazz Tastings and have recommended it to countless people but will never go or recommend again! This was one of the most important nights of my family's life..celebrating my Mother's 78th year on earth and first full year as Cancer free..it was a BIG DEAL. My daughters all flew in to town to celebrate her special day of life. I made reservations to Jazz Tastings online and received not one, but TWO confirmation e-mails. One even wising my mother a happy birthday....great start, right? Well, upon arrival the very rude lady at the door was adamant that I didn't have a reservation so I had to show her the TWO confirmation emails I received. They had no record of the reservation and I was advised that it was a "glitch" in the system..ugh! The owner attempted to fix the problem by bringing in a table from the outside for four (which made us feel like misfits) and separating my party by making two of the six sit at the bar..therefore, we could not celebrate together which broke my family's heart. Although the owner tried to mitigate by comping a bottle of champagne (which I had to request) and removing two of the six entry fees, i don't feel that it was adequate. None of us should have paid an entry fee and only four of us was able to enjoy the comp'd bottle of champagne because the other two had to sit at the bar while we sat at a picnic table in the middle of the floor. Meanwhile, there was an empty table beside us for two which could have accommodated us all sitting together. They should have asked those two who had not arrived to sit at the bar upon their arrival and allowed us to all sit together. In addition, they "ran out" of water glasses and served us water in a champagne glass.; And, to top it off, when it was time to pay, there was another "glitch" in the system that couldn't take my Amex card so I had to scramble to pay another way...we all left the establishment vexed and I had to quickly come up with a plan B which required me spending even more money than I planned. Not only will I not be going back, I will NEVER recommend it to anyone. I am in a business where I have to recommend dining options to my clients all the time, and this used to be one of my go-to recommendations. I cannot take the chance that any of my clients will have such an experience. It makes me sad because I used to really like Jazz Tastings but this experience has changed my entire view of the place. read more

I loved the band and the singer brought a great energy to the place. She likes to call people out and makes it very entertaining. They like to keep the crowd involved and engaged. Many great things about this place. Awesome music, cool vibe. The food is not something I would put on that list of great things. I loved what I got the second time (I am a person that NEVER sends food back) but the first item brought to me was a charred piece of rubber like meat that I was paying $20 for. Another person in my group had the same issue with the same item. I felt some of the prices were a bit high for what you were getting, even in tapas portions. I will go back for the wine and music and probably skip the food. read more
