This is one of those places where you never have to worry about if the food is fresh. From the chicken, to fish, and the ribbon fries, everything is made to order and hot and fresh and juicy when you receive it. Beautiful day in Dallas calls for a good a** Snowcone. I got small strawberry cheesecake (12 oz with a good size dome top) and it was on point. Ice was smooth And soft. Jamie and I went to Jazzy Joint today, and it was an adventure in many ways: - situated in an older neighborhood in Oak Cliff, the brightly painted shack is a celebration to the entrepreneurial spirit of the owner, Jazz - you order at the window, and drive away with your food, after Jazz brings it to you in your car. There is no seating at the establishment, although you could bring your own camping/folding chairs-table, if you plan for it and have the vehicular capacity. With such preparation, you can eat your hot and crisp treats fresh from the kitchen moments after their preparation, an ethereal experience well worth planning for. - on my first visit, I ordered a single whiting fillet (strong flavored fish, like mullet, not for the faint of heart- they have tilapia too, if you prefer a milder fish fillet), a belgian waffle, four enormous chicken fingers, and a cucumber limeade, served with site packed pickles and jalapeno slices in little capped condiment cups and prepacked (in plastic envelopes) hot sauce, ketchup, and tartar sauce, all excellent for that packaging format. - Jazz was the only employee on site, and was both friendly service person and superlative comfort food chef. Everything he served me was in the top tier of fried fish and chicken I have ever eaten, and I've been a student of fried fish and chicken for the past 50 years, all over the midwest and southern United States. - I used the piece of white bread served with the whiting fillet to make a chicken finger sammie, topped with hot sauce and pickles-peppers, an excellent changeup bite to the other fingers perched on the soft waffle, drizzled with syrup. The freshest fish around. We went to Jazzy's last night and were blown away by the fried tilapia and ribbon fries. I so enjoyed the owner and cook, Jazz. He came out to our car while we waited for our fish to cook and was so pleasant and humble. There is nothing better than that. I have told everyone in ear's reach about this place. We will be back! Yo! This spot is the best place for some nice soft snow cones, I also ended up getting a tigers blood kool aid pickle and it was the best I've ever tried. Definitely will be coming here more often, wish I would of found this place at the beginning of summer but it's definitely worth checking out!! read more

Would never want to hurt a business but I called this place to see if it would be open before I drove there, and they said yes so I went. When I got there I rang the door bell twice and heard people inside and after 5 to 10 minutes they did not open the window. I get in the car to leave and a man rings the bell and they served him immediately. I question why they never opened to serve me, I am hispanic and the man is African American. The chicken is crazy good however there's something different that has happened in the last few weeks. The addition of a new worker has changed the quality of the food. I mean the chicken is still hella good but one time it was burnt. The waffle was good but the fries were so soggy. I don't know. Plus the snow cone was extra syrupy. I love this place! The newest little gem in Open Cliff! The shaved ice snowballs are amazing.... They simply melt in your mouth! Many tasty flavors to choose from as well. Popped in about three weeks ago just about opening time on Sunday morning. Ordered the fish and fries and it was very good! Fish was hot out of the grease and the fries were equally as hot and had an unexpected, but pleasant "twist!" I live a bit away so had to wait until I got home for the fish, but the fries were gone before I got halfway home. My daughter, who was my co-pilot on the trip, loved the fries also (seasoning was great, we did not use the ketchup provided)! Great spot, great food and love the creativity of the menu items by the owner. Not much on snow cones but will be back to give them a try next time...This place is worth the ride! read more

Look no further for the best chicken and waffles around. Coming from NYC I was hesitant at first cuz it's just a little shack by the side of the road, but WOW. This is easily the best C&W I've ever had. And I've tried it from East to West coasts and down south. Jazzy is the chef. Belgian waffles actually needed nothing, but I added butter and syrup. Chicken tenders were perfectly seasoned and cooked. He has it down to a science knowledge WA exactly how long everything will take and can judge his customers from a look.
