We had them install new flooring in our home. During installation, the installers discovered there was quite a bit of slab moisture under the laminate flooring they had to pull up to install the new floors. The installers seemed to think it wasn't too much of an issue at the time, because the moisture dried up as soon as they removed some of the old planks. They said they have seen it before and assured me it was nothing to worry about. I took their word for it because I trusted that they know their job, they deal with it every day... but my wife wasn't convinced, and she tried to stop the job in the middle of the install. At the time, I was assuming these professionals knew what they were doing, so if they say this is something that isn't a problem, I felt they knew their business and trusted them. So, it took me some time, but I finally talked my wife out of stopping the install. But I called the manager anyway just because we wanted to be sure it wasn't going to be an issue in the future... and they told me... if the moisture dries up when you uncover it, you know that it's not a leak or anything major, and that it is just ground/slab moisture. Well, less than a year after install, early 2022, I started to find issues with the flooring at the seams where the planks connect. Then I started seeing the seams start to break and pop up, making it a tripping hazard in certain areas. There was one area under my desk that started showing the most damage, so they sent their installers out to fix it. When they pulled up the planks to be fixed, they discovered mold and damage to the rubber connections at the seams of the planks. There was also a lot of moisture again. These were the same installers that said it shouldn't be a problem on the first install... but now after seeing how quickly the planks were damaged again, they now believe that it is a problem that needs to be addressed, and they immediately called the manager to explain the situation. The manager ultimately told them to go ahead and fix it for now anyway, and they would send the owner to come take a look at it in a few days. But I immediately thought to myself... if they fix all the visible issues today, what will the owner even see when he gets here? He won't see any problems at all, which he didn't. After the owner looked at what has already been repaired, he ended up saying he would call me back to see what they were going to do about it... nobody called in weeks, so I called them and left messages. They weren't responding for weeks and weeks... and I was pretty sure they blew me off... I asked my friend, who referred me to them, to step in. Soon after that, they finally came and replaced the one section in August of 2022, and their solution was to put down plastic sheets underneath the vinyl planks to help with the moisture issue. After one section of the house was repaired this way, they came back to do the other parts of the house, but then they said... actually the best way to fix this would be to seal the cement slab, but at this point it's too late for that suggestion, they've already put the plastic sheets down in the other parts of the house as their fix. But if the cement slab sealing was mentioned to us when my wife tried to stop the job and we brought this moisture problem to their attention during the first install, we might have been able to do something about it back then. But basically, now the problem my wife brought up that they assured us wouldn't be a problem, they are now admitting is a problem, but now it's too late. So, as I suspected, a few months after their repair, the other parts of the house are already showing signs of the same issues again! We understand that the excessive ground moisture isn't their problem, and maybe they have installed vinyl flooring directly on cement floors before without issues but what I have a problem with is...They knew at the time of the original install that we had heavy slab/ground moisture, since my wife almost stopped the job because of it. But if we knew this moisture needed to be sealed at the time of the original install, we would've been able to make a decision then. But they never gave us that option, they just kept saying it was nothing to worry about. I'm not trying to be unreasonable. I just want the reliable flooring that we were promised from the beginning that we paid thousands of dollars for. I just want to not have to tape down several areas of my house, so the flooring doesn't bend up and cause tripping hazards. But they can't seem to provide that... so if they really want to fix this problem and make it right... they would just give us our money back, that's all we want... so we can get flooring that is installed correctly and safe. I don't think that is an unreasonable ask, but I'm not holding my breath. read more
