Scott and the team at JBA Speed Shop did an exceptional job with my 2019 Corolla Hatchback. After installing a TOM's Racing JDM steering wheel, I needed an alignment. I called JBA and was able to book an alignment appointment for the following week. They took my car in at 9:00 am and had it ready that afternoon. I couldn't be more pleased with their service. My steering wheel and car track true and straight, and now my car drives better than when I drove it off the showroom floor five years ago. Trust me, you won't find a better option than JBA Speed Shop and their Hunter alignment rack.

JBA Speedshop does an incredible job. Not only did they help me locate a GTO, but they inspected my car before purchase and developed a plan to bring this car to show condition. I picked up the car today and couldn't be happier with the result. I highly recommend this company!

I took my 1966 and 1973 Mustang to a mechanic for almost 2 years that I trusted and thought was the guy to fix my cars. Come to find out he screwed up both cars. I joined the Mustang Club of San Diego and alot of the members told me about JBA Speed Shop. I made appointments to get my cars fixed the right way. Customer service was GREAT at JBA. David and Austin kept me updated almost every other day of what's going on with the cars, parts I needed, pricing and maybe future upgrades on both Mustangs if I wanted to. Was it worth taking my cars to JBA? YES IT WAS!!!! Now my cars are running great and I feel a lot safer with the brakes working the way they should be. Now JBA has a customer for LIFE and are my go to guys to work on my classics.

    New wheels and tires

I can't remember the last time I had tires installed on my wheels that didn't end up with some sort of damage. So when I got my new Apex wheels for my 135i I began searching for potential tire installers. Long story short, I came across JBA speed shop. The reviews all indicated they wouldn't mar my wheels. Gave them a call and they also said they could do the job without issues. So i made a morning appt and drove from north county to get my tires installed. Kyle was the installer and he did exactly what he said. No damage to my wheels! And they don't gouge you with some crazy price; install price was extremely fair. The entire staff was extremely courteous and professional. Thanks again.

*edit* As you can see from their reply, they can't even acknowledge their own faults and be accountable. Continuing to cover up Austin's obvious lack of professionalism only makes you look worse. Can't get any more black and white than a text message proving it. What a joke haha.* I went to JBA for a 15 inch wheel conversion kit on my 2015 Hellcat which got successfully installed with a few hiccups along the way. This was expected being that they had never done this kit before. I had to take it upon myself to research and find parts that would work with this kit which I didn't mind too much but I had zero help on that end. One of the mechanics after installing admitted to accidentally putting a hole in the boot when installing the kit. The result of this slung grease all over the place. When I approached Austin Bittle about it he initially began to blame the after-market kit itself for this issue specifically. When a mechanic creates an issue, even if accidental which I understand, you would think the reaction would be to fix the issue they caused to begin with. The second issues started arising is when Austin's lack of professionalism and his immaturity as an employee became apparent. His attitude toward the situation was quite off-putting and it was a verbal battle just to get my car back into the shop to fix the issue that THEY caused. After getting my car into the shop and replacing the boot that they tore without discussing any sort of payment amount whatsoever, I show up and he has a bill for around $1300. They did have to disconnect the brake line but never elaborated at all about potential cost or anything of that sort. Austin assumes a lot. He began to describe how many hours it took in labor cost etc. after offering to cover the labor in a text message. His communication skills are obviously lacking. After trying to come to a conclusion on the bill he asked me, with an attitude, "So I am going to ask you one question....do you want us to work on your car ever again?", in a threatening tone which I found quite humorous like I need them or something. He does not know how to handle himself professionally. I even had to go get the serial number of my CV axle and take a picture myself, something a customer should not have to be doing. All in all, if you go here avoid Austin. Nothing bad to say about the mechanics themselves. They work hard and do a good job. Its the leadership that is the deficit.

Hey all, So glad I work at JBA Speed Shop! Among the many reasons and why as an employee I'm sharing this review is while I was driving my wife's SUV to work a couple days ago, my right rear tire managed to pick up a bolt as I drove by new CHP construction near our shop. Frustrated and thinking what to do next I realized I have an excellent opportunity to experience first hand the JBA Meltdown tires experience. I had my tires inspected and the bolt was located and removed from the right rear tire. The tire was diagnosed as repairable, repaired then balanced and reinstalled. The process was very impressive! The the tire machine and tire balance equipment are state of the art. My take away is knowing first hand we have the right people, equipment, and products for our friends and families @ JBA Speed Shop

Updated the rig again and I am amazed by the results. Austin and his crew went above and beyond my expectations in every way. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial it is to make JBA your first and last stop when looking to take your hot rod/ rig to an unexpected level.

The reason I am just writing a review after going to him for 8 years is because I was blown-away with my last service experience with him a few days ago. I took my 2011 Toyota Camry in for it's 60,000 mile service, which he did along with replacing my rear struts (which were original). The owner Tony greeted me in the parking lot and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the process. I would say my impression is that he is the most honest auto mechanic I have encountered anywhere around the US. It turned out that I had a very serious engine issue and that it was better to sell the car than get it fixed. Tony was so kind in explaining this to me in detail, and he never tried to convince me to pay for repairs that didn't make financial sense. It was not the news that I was wanting to hear, but that's not the fault of Tony or anyone else at Sawaya Automotive. If I ever need auto maintenance work again in San Diego I will definitely come back here."

I can't wait, after searching and getting quotes on Yelp, I based my selection on credible positive reviews and chose Phan Auto Repair shop in Mira Mesa. I usually go to bigger established shops, but sometimes those shops are notorious for being dishonest about parts and labor costs $$$$. And every time I take my car to a dealer for repairs, they want to buy my current car and sell me a new car, which is their mission, other than overcharge. This shop is in Mira Mesa, not fancy by any means: the waiting area was very dirty, no air conditioning, and not enough space as the seats were crammed up. My objective was to drop off my car for brakes repair and dash out. There were 3 guys working at Phan, I spoke to Dave and Lai. I had previously texted via Yelp and their response was faster than their competitors, in fact a shop across the street quoted me $300-$400 more!! They answered all my questions, concerns and after 4 hours, installed OEM brake routers, pads and sensors on my MBZ. During that time, I took a Lyft to UTC and watched a 3 hrs movie: Odyssey, had lunch and shopped. Shortly thereafter, I got a call saying my car was ready. Upon paying, I made sure my receipt clearly included a warranty. Be aware there is a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card. But I was glad new brakes routers, pads and scensors were installed at a reasonable price. Thanks to Yelp and Yelpers reviews about this shop. I was saving it for my son when he turned 16. Now he's 16, but the problem is that he's the kind of kid that I don't have full confidence in when it comes to using a clutch and stick. Anyway, I (after looking around for about a year at new civics) decided, "Screw this. I'm not taking on a new car payment for the stuff they're offering. My '07 is awesome, it just needs a little tweak here and there. I'd rather restore what I've got for between $5-10k all in." The first thing was the clutch, because a mechanic at Shell f'd it up a few years back. So I buy the exedy racing clutch on Amazon and start hunting for someone to install it. Just for giggles, I went to Honda in Kearney Mesa (San Diego) to get a quote. Labor alone? $2,652 with a timeline of 24-36 hours. Yeah. Right. I'm sure. Literally TWO blocks away, I stumbled upon Car Tune after some online prowling. Anyway, I found them, and I KNEW I struck gold the second I pulled up. I hadn't even MET anyone yet. All I had to see were the cars they were working on. Fully 80% of the cars in the bay and parking area were what would be considered "street racers," and I know from living in San Diego how SERIOUS these guys are about their cars. They DON'T mess around. They're sort of like the car version of Harley Davidson fanatics when it comes to motorcycles. That alone put a smile on my face. Second thing I noticed? It may seem like a trivial issue to most people, but because I'm in the restaurant business for over 30 years, I notice stuff like this. But here it is. Every guy working there was nearly SPOTLESS. I don't mean they were decked out in matching uniforms or anything. They were just wearing regular clothes, but everything they were wearing had a MINIMAL amount (if anything at all) of dirt, grease, grime, oil and everything else that comes with the automotive trade. In other words, PROFESSIONAL. The garage itself was basically the same way. Think about it. If you went into the hospital to have your BODY "tuned up" and the doctor walked into the room with blood stains all over his outfit how much confidence would you have about his professionalism? Anyway, those 2 factors made a really good first impression on me. After telling them my problem and letting them know I've got the part, they quote me $1,600 LESS than honda, and at least $200 less than other places I had called. Plus, they gave me a 10 hour timeline as opposed to 1-2 days. They came in well under the deadline, and my 8th gen is running like it's brand f'n new. There's more to that clutch story, but you understand the broad strokes so onto the next fix. The air conditioner. Sooo, of course I pull up to my new friends one morning after dropping my son off at his job a few blocks away. Once again, I explain what's going on to one of the guys who's outside and he tells me he isn't "..quite sure what the exact # is, but I think we charge around $250.." That's fine with me, because I've had others quote me figures closer to $400, like Jiffey Lube who charges me $90 for an oil change. Keep those 2 #s in mind because they're relevant. So, I go home and call the next day to make an appointment. When I show up, I find out that the other guy was waaaay off on his #s because it wasn't $250....it was $135. And, once again, I was told it would take about an hour and a half. About 30 minutes in, one of the guys mentions that my oil is low. I was getting ready for an oil change in a few weeks anyway so I said "Go ahead, whatever you think is best." They said it'd be $35 extra. So, air conditioner fixed and blowing air colder than a witch's tit, and an oil change cost me $170 plus tax, and it was done perfectly. Jiffy Lube would have whacked me for 5 bills and taken all day long to do it. Car Tune did it in 50 minutes which is 40 minutes less than the time they quoted me. One other thing and then I'm out. It's not just that THEY'RE good, it's that birds of a feather flock together. In other words, they don't fix headliners, but when I asked them about it they instantaneously knew exactly who I should call, which again is the mark of a pro in any line of work. I need some body work done. 20 years of little dents dings etc. They'll know someone. I eventually want to paint it. They'll know someone. It's people like this that make a difference. There's a line from the movie Rounders that comes to mind. "You can shear a sheep many times, but skin him only once." The team at Car Tune CLEARLY understands that principle.

This quiet, humble man and his team run one of the best shops in San Diego County. John was…read morereferred to me by another mechanic when I was in need of an engine replacement for my Honda Minivan. This was a big job and I was nervous about the outcome because I didn't know John. The price was very fair. Less than a week later, I received a message that my van was ready for pickup. My wife and I were pleased with the smoothness of our van and to have all of the problems we had with the old engine gone. It has now been a year or close to a year since the engine replacement. Since then John has serviced all of our vehicles. We have been pleased with every job he has done for us and especially appreciate his integrity that allows us to contact him if we detect anything wrong with the repair. We've never had to contact him, but pleased with knowing he takes full responsibility for his repairs. For the last month, I've been driving my Toyota Avalon around scorching hot San Diego with no air conditioning. I took it to a nearby Honda service center only because they were closer to where I live. They quoted me over $1900 to replace the compressor and some other parts. This included labor. I brought my Toyota Avalon to John last night not expecting him to do anything until the next day. That same night, John texted me the fantastic news that he didn't believe my car needed a compressor, but was in desperate need of freon. John wanted to keep it overnight to see if he could detect any leaks. This morning, John contacted me to pick up my car! For the first time in over a month, my car felt like the North Pole. Don't usually do reviews or speak this much, but I owe this to John and his team for their excellent mechanic work and honesty.
