I went for the first time last night and was pretty impressed! The food and the service was great and they have a nice big patio for al fresco dining. I'm a regular here! Awesome beer selection (best in the area) and the menu is well balanced between bar favorites and full entrees. I'm always met with a friendly server who stays on top of my drinks and food orders. The atmosphere changes every night based on specials, which include 2-4-1 pints and even well drinks. This place is a nice spot for drinks but the food leaves little to be desired. We ordered the chips and salsa. The chips were stale and the salsa like water, couldn't even get any onto the chip. The chicken quesadillas were okay, typical bar food. The service is usually hit and miss, sometimes great and sometimes horrible. If the food was kicked up a notch, we'd be back quite often. If I could review this and give it Zero stars, I would. I've been here twice and while most places I try to give 3 strikes and your out, this place is POUR enough that I have to say 2 strikes and they are out. While I am acquaintances with several people in the Hermitage area who rave about this place, it basically only makes me question my affiliation with these folks. How can they rave about a place that sucks just so bad. When you tout yourself as "Pour House" with a big beer tap as your sign on the front and then you misspell beers on your beer list (Jaskalope instead of Jackalope and Yazaoo instead of Yazoo...among the most noticeable), come on. I mean really? It's a printed sheet of paper that was slipped into a laminate cover. You couldn't take the time to fix that? It shows how little the owners know or care about the beers they serve. Next off, while I understand the need to have major distributed brews, they don't need them on the taps if they are also going to have them in bottles. They could leave those taps available to be able to offer more CRAFT brews. But apparently craft at JB's means "Yuengling" or "Blue Moon" or 10 different varieties of Budweiser. While they do have some local brews on tap, anyone claiming to be a true craft beer fan is going to laugh at the beer list here. When you have nearly 30 taps and 2/3 of those are pouring out Budweiser, Michelob, or Miller brews, you are a Buffalo Wild Wings wannabe and not a craft beer house. Speaking of Buffalo Wild Wings, JB's is basically wanting to be a wanna be Bdubs from the many tvs to the beer to the wings. The wings at the Pour House while big in size are unfortunately left to be covered in some lame sauces. Their "Hot" isn't even mild. There isn't a bite AT ALL in it. Then they have a "JB's Hot" which has Habanero in it and will burn your butthole. They have nothing to build up to the JB's Hot. The cucumber wasabi was interesting. I will give them that. The most recent trip I ordered one of their "new" menu items the Chicken Philly Cheesesteak. The chicken was dry. And not just a little dry but super dry. And for a cheesesteak, there was absolutely NO cheese on this sandwich. Apparently, Spicy Ranch is the new provolone cheese at JB's. I am not one who likes to send food back. But I honestly just could not eat this. It was just an all around awful sandwich. I'm also a little let down with the fact that they have no entrees. No steak dinners. No chicken dinners. Just crappy sandwiches and wanna be bbq and wings. And the thing is that the prices on the food are quite spendy when you consider what I could pay to get average food at Buffalo Wild Wings. And yet at JB's, I paid more for food I didn't enjoy at all. And while I've read people complaining about the price of the beer, I actually felt like their beer was priced properly. It's the food that is overpriced. I'm really sad because I was so excited when I saw this place was going to open. It's just really disappointing. And while I hate to see small business fail. I hope that either the owner can figure out a way to be what he is advertising himself to be or get someone else in there who knows beer. Because frankly, I don't see them being successful. If nothing changes, I honestly give them maybe a year, maybe a year and a half. My suggestion...You can get better craft beer from a discount beer place. Go there instead. And get curbside takeout from Famous Dave's. It's cheaper and better than the BBQ JB's offers. read more

Food was wonderful. We got fried pickles and queso dip for appetizers. For dinner we ordered catfish nuggets,wings and fried shrimp. Everything came out tasting wonderful. It was all hot and fresh. We went this afternoon...we ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad & the BBQ Brisket Wrap..Lets start with the salad. The chicken was rubbery, the avocado on the salad was brown & had been left out for a while & they use frozen lettuce..we were told this by a manager. The ranch dressing sucks! The brisket wrap had way to much BBQ sauce on it, we had a huge piece of white stalky lettuce running thru it. Just very bad. When you walk in there is no one to greet you. Our waitress was very nice & very helpful!! The Associate Manager (i think thats what she said her title was) was very nice..and was fully aware of the issues with the kitchen & told us all about them :) she also wished the owner was there as well so we could tell him our issues.. Now having been open less than a week the owner should be there greeting everyone that walks in the door & to be there to handle the many complaints that this resturant seems to be having already...a shame really. I will wait a few months & give this resturant another try..sure hope he gets the kitchen up to par. NOT a big fan of the waitresses wearing wife beaters..looks very trashy. Not to mention they were white & already stained & dirty. Just not a good apperance. read more

Can't say enough about how poor my experiences have been. The sewage smell emitting from the drains can completely suffocate that dining room. The bartenders seem completely inept at making drinks in a timely manner. I've personally witnessed an overdose on there illegal back bar, and the management would be better suited to run a petting zoo. This is in the old The Cooker building that has been vacant for a number of years. They've opened it up inside making it feel much smaller. The floor is tile, the overhead utilities are exposed, and the whole place has a cold, industrial feel and high noise level. All of The Cooker's dark woodwork is gone. There are a lot of TVs throughout, more than a dozen. Seating is mostly tables with a good number of high-tops near the bar and just a few wooden booths. There is a large outdoor patio but with the temps topping 100F this weekend it was deserted. There is a double-garage door that could also be opened to bring in fresh air when the weather permits. The menu isn't huge. No side-salad, for example, to go with a meal. Mostly bar food. It took a while before our orders were taken but the service was otherwise friendly and reasonably prompt. The basket of onion rings was the best of the food that we had. It was very hot when it arrived and had a nice batter coating. It had not been seasoned, however, and was a bit greasy. Not sure if that was because the grease wasn't hot enough or if they just hadn't been sufficiently drained before serving. The nachos were a generous portion with ample toppings, though it seemed a bit short on cheese. They were fine but none of us were particular fond of the chili that they used and it was pretty spicy. The beef brisket sandwich was served on a hamburger bun that looked like it came from Kroger. Nothing wrong with that but something a little fancier than what I have at home would have been nice. The brisket was cool, dry, and unseasoned. The fries where similarly cool and unseasoned but would have been good if hot and with a bit of seasoned salt. The kid's grilled cheese didn't look grilled at all (as another review mentioned). The bread was plain white bread and looked toasted but no sign of being buttered and grilled. It looked like it had a single slice of American cheese in the sandwich and, again, no sign of any seasoning. No one in our group tried anything from the bar, we each had ice water. The bill for nachos, a basket of onion rings, beef brisket sandwich & fries, and a kid's grilled cheese and fries--no drinks--was just over $30 plus tip. Overall, I miss The Cooker (and their potato-cheese soup!) We won't go back. read more

This place has awesome food. Try the donut burger. I know it sounds weird and I was skeptical but it's worth a try. The sugar isn't overbearing. So donuts instead of buns with burger fixins in the middle. On Sundays they have unlimited mimosa's and $8 domestic pitchers. They also have a lot of local craft beers. Turtle Anarchy, Yazoo, Blackstone, as well as Sweetwater. It's a good bar/restaurant. The food is above par compared to regular bars. I will update this place later. I was concerned seeing the reviews before heading there for a lunch meeting; however, I was pleasantly surprised. We had great service and greeted immediately upon arrival. There was around 25 tables total seated, but there were 3-4 servers. We were there for approximately 1.5 hrs since it was a meeting and there was constant assistance - even during shift change. I had a BBQ chicken plate w/potato salad and the food was good. I would suggest since they are such a new business and they are changing their menu to add a grilled or steamed vegetable option as an option. This is a nice place to have a drink and watch a game. Tons of great beers are on tap. The food is above average bar food. I had the half chicken, which was done well. The pulled pork sliders were also good. I was not a fan of the cheese that came with the pretzels. It was thick and chewy. Overall, a pretty good place. We will be back to watch games during football season. Update: we have since been back several more times. I'm increasing my rating from a 3 to 4 stars as a result of our experiences there. We continue to have great service. The drink specials are fantastic depending on the night. We had bogo beers the last time we are there. We also had really good wings. I continue to think this will be a great place to watch football games when the season starts. read more

I'll admit, I have avoided this place for months due to the poor Yelp reviews. However, I tried it a month or so ago figuring that I just wanted to have a beer--how bad could it be? My drinking experience was totally fine, so I decided to go back for dinner last night. I totally enjoyed it! The booze is priced right and the food was good. My buffalo chicken sandwich was tops, as was the shrimp, pretzels, and flatbread. Yes, it's bar food, but hello......the place is a bar, so the presence of tasty fried goodness shouldn't shock anybody! I thought the service was pretty good. Really, I don't have anything bad to say about the place, and it's definitely been added to my Donelson/Hermitage dinner rotation.Check it out! They have great drink specials! read more

I initially left a bad review due to a misunderstanding with a shift supervisor here, the manager J took care of the problem and this is my second time back now. The food is excellent and now that the staff understands a customer should be able to ask for a specific waitress I am very pleased. Thank you for taking care of the issue. I love JB's pour house! The food is great, you can't go wrong with the ribs, they are some of the best I've ever had. Also the chicken tenders (with the "pour house hot" or the "Mexican adobo" sauce yum!) and catfish bites are some favorites of mine The beer selection is awesome if you're willing to step outside the box a little and try something new but they also have the domestics that everyone is used to.
