He was unreliable for service calls, sometimes taking 3 weeks to respond. He finally bowed out and referred the calls to the technician Chris Stibbs (who originally installed the system). Once again, I encountered delays of up to three weeks for service. Finally, the unit failed to operate. Turns out it was a lemon and required replacement, but because of all the delays in service, it was past the full warranty replacement service. I had to pay $1500 to have a new compressor unit delivered and then the cost of installation by Chris Stibbs. That was February 2023, this is now June and once again I have a problem. I have been calling both Chris Stibbs and Kurt Guardian for 6 weeks--both have ghosted me. Alpine Air technical support tells me that they think the installation by Chris Stibbs was wired backwards. I now have to hire another service company to try to fix/resolve the problems.

With that positive start, Kurt was very courteous (had booties for shoes before I even told him I prefer no shoes in house), patient with all my questions and expedient with his written proposal with no attempt to up-sale. Of 2 other companies, one never showed after changing appt time twice in one day (because of urgent issues elsewhere) and other company called to ask address since they were lost, was condescending, rushed me during inspection, questioned what type of research I had done since I was asking specific questions, then proceeded to overbid while offering to "give" me free vent and furnace cleaning. Not only did Kurt clean the furnace, but also repaired an electrical disconnect I had with my fireplace at no additional charge. Kurt stated in advance that I should plan for about 4-5 hours for the install. He called morning of appt to say he would be at my place on time (just another courtesy call), arrived on time and completed work well within the allotted time. He and James were willing to answer any questions I had during the process and kept me updated. Kurt honored his very reasonable estimate even after having to make a slight adjustment (requiring additional supplies). Quality of work is important, which they have down pact, but courtesy, integrity and punctuality are just some of the things that sets Guardian apart from others.

It doesnt matter if the jobs were completed successfully but it matters if they are an ethical company. I got a flyer in the mail & called them for an initial consultation to check one of my AC units. Kyle was the.person i talked to make the appointment. He told me that there will be a $100 charge which i accepted because most companies will charge that & if you decide to go w/the job they may even deduct that from the final bill. I do not recall anythin else mentioned during that conversation. Then Francisco, the tech came. Initially, he did not mention anything regarding charges. He spent about over an hour, worked very slowly, checked the AC, answered some of our questions then came up with a repair proposal over $3k. When i glanced at it item by item, i noticed almost an $800 charge for R22 gas, which my AC needs about 6 to 8oz retail cost of that is max about $200, then there was a charge for a 2nd person for another $200+ and many other inflated charges that put the repair cost over $3k. Francisco worked slow motion, he did not perform any type maintenance but repairs. However, after the $3k repair proposal, just before he was leaving he said there will be another $545 charge over and above the $100 for his services. What services, in order to determine the necessary repairs they need to come look and then give the proposal. Why am i paying $545 for that service, didnt i already paid $100? This to me is the biggest scam i have ever seen in my entire life related w/any type of construction, repair & etc business dealings. I have been in construction business for over 40 years. I not only did lots of residential projects, just completed a $1.5M home project in TX but also did major store builts in Denver Int'l, Washington Dulles & Dallas TX airports over the years. So im not just an upset person but a very well informed client. I am not only going to report this scam to BBB but i also suggest anyone who may even slightly think about hiring this company to rethink because chances are you will be scammed w/these extremely overcharges. From the jump there were red flags; in retrospect I should have realized and not chosen them, but alas. Hopefully this review can save others the money and headache! Our HVAC system was antiquated and needed replacing, so I reached out to Quality Home. I was given a quote $3,000 over my budget. When I said as much they immediately said they could meet me at my price point which makes me wonder... Why the high quote to begin with? Where would that extra $3k have gone? The day of the install went okay. They took a few hours longer than they said they would which disrupted my workday, but fine - I can understand that. I was never sent photos of the condenser on the roof which I was promised - I had to ask a few times to get those. Our new HVAC worked well for a few weeks, then started randomly shutting off. During peak heat times. I'd come home from work to a boiling house. Our thermostat kept saying it was running too long with no change in temperature. I brought this up to my contact at the company - a director level guy - and he told me my thermostat was "trash" and it needed to be replaced. Me, knowing nothing about this stuff, went along and agreed to pay the $400+ for a new thermostat. It turns out that the actual issue was that the folx doing the installation wired the entire thing incorrectly. I was still charged full price for the thermostat/install and offered no apology. My old thermostat was better and easier to use. Fast forward a few months and I noticed our HVAC was leaking water. I called them in a panic as we were going out of town, it was the heat of summer, and I didn't want our cat to overheat. They were able to come out quickly (for a high fee) and told me the leaking was due to us not changing our filter frequently enough. I was again charged $400+ for this. It seemed weird to me that a dirty filter would cause leaking, but again... not my area of expertise. I took their advice and started changing our filter at the cadence recommended. Guess what? Still leaking. A LOT. This is definitely an HVAC issue, not a filter issue as our filters are pretty pristine. I've been trying to get in touch with my same contact (and others) for literal weeks and am being met with total silence. I want to talk to someone about this but it appears that professionalism isn't a value of Quality Home HVAC. Moral of the story? Absolutely go with a different company - I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.
