With the eyes that have been on Cleveland Park of late, I am surprised to be the first review for this neighborhood destination. 'Discovering' what the park had to offer was a joy; it's a perfect spot for nearby locals. One thing I enjoyed about the park is that it was utilized. People who have been in the neighborhood for a while were throughout the community center, working the front desk, playing basketball and ping pong, playing with their kids on the playground... I hope the neighborhood can hold on to the character and community it enjoyed before the boom... because the park is a great neighborhood resource. Nestled squarely within the Cleveland Park neighborhood (and a nice smattering of original homes and the new abominations developers are hellbent on popping up all over the city), the actual park is a few city blocks of greenery, mature trees, 2 baseball diamonds, a soccer field, community center, swimming pool (!), indoor & outdoor basketball courts, meeting rooms, foosball, and a pavilion for lunching. With a generous parking lot, I was impressed with how well maintained the park is and how deceptively large it is. In roaming all around it, I was surprised to find more hidden gems. There's a walking trail that abuts a tennis court that could use some TLC. It also overlooks train tracks (the vegetation hides them for the most most). But this is, truly, a neighborhood park. It's extremely well-planned and offers resources for residents to enjoy as a community. Some of the parks/green spaces we explore are more of the 'open field' sort -- and that's fine. There's a lot of beauty in wide open spaces. But to come across a park that had a specific plan, a conception borne of need and execution that delivers -- and on the east side -- well, it's a joy to encounter. Cleveland Park (the park) is a joy. Explore your metro and discover it for yourself.

The history of the property isn't very well documented, but in my research, I did find a lot of criminal activity here in the 1970s and 1980s. With East Nashville being gentrified over the last ten years, it will be interesting to see what changes happen to this park in the next few years, and how much money gets pumped into it. I did enjoy the trail along the perimeter, and the layout is very typical of Ben West-era parks.

Waterscapes overcharges and under-delivers. Whatever estimated dates they give you, at least double…read morethem if you're trying to get something built or serviced. A lot of their business comes courtesy of builders. So they feel like they can keep getting away with poor quality and service and charging outrageous amounts for their sub-par work. All while their employees and contract workers are disgruntled and underpaid and overworked. That is how you get poor quality and long times for anything to get done. If they build a pool for you, don't be surprised to find mistakes that need to be fixed (especially with how the equipment is set up). They will agree to do a fix and not show up or when they show up they claim nothing is wrong. We had to pay another company to fix issues that Waterscapes should have under done warranty, especially after the equipment specialist at Waterscapes left us with dangerous issues he claimed were normal and to leave it. Wrong! Definitely don't go with them for pool maintenance or cleaning because it's unpredictable and unreliable. They're cleaners are limited on time and training. They don't properly test or balance all the necessary chemicals (there's more than just chlorine and PH). Health issues folks. This company USED to have a good reputation in the area. It's seriously degraded over the past few years. Now they are just too busy doing low-quality work while they rake in the cash by doubling their prices every couple years. Too much work, not enough good workers, poor customer service, and disgruntled employees. Recipe for failure (especially for the customers). They specialize in making and breaking promises starting at the top of the company and all the way down. You have other choices. Do yourself a favor and pick someone else or seriously reconsider even doing a pool. Already under contract with them? Try to get out of it or at least don't pay in full until everything is completed to your satisfaction.

They kindly referred me to Waterscapes as their local Nashville dealer. So after calling and speaking with Faith, I asked about how I could possibly purchase and install that specific product. She takes down my number and says Andy will call me back. I never receive a call from Andy, but Faith calls me back the next day saying that she spoke to some manager or whomever and they WON'T BE TAKING ON ANY NEW BUSINESS. Confused, I said, "do you know anybody else that installs this product in the area?". Faith seemed to think that was an odd question, like "who's this friggin guy asking for help? What am I? Some sort of customer representative for a pool company?". She certainly wasn't interested in providing me any sort of helpful insight, and I'm pretty sure she was delighted to hear me say "okay, thanks for the help. Bye." My best guess is she had a pretty sweet game of Candy Crush that she had to get back to. So there you have it everybody. Waterscapes doesn't need your business, nor are they interested in helping you because their current business is just treating them tooooo good $$$$$$$!!!!! Best of luck with that model of customer service. I'm sure it will provide many future years of sustaining, profitable business.

I do feel like they haven't updated the gym much since they opened. Most of the original machines are there and beginning to show wear and tear. The men's sauna consistently has one of the burners out, leaving it not as hot. Also the tile in the sauna is turning black from the amount of sweat and filth in there. Staff is very kind and helpful, common areas are very clean. The pools are great and the outdoor spaces during the warmer months are a gift. The classes are always filled up and the gym is pretty crowded. I would like to see them add on to the gym to make more space as more and more people are joining. Fees are going up but I don't see amenities increasing with the price. Overall I love this place and am thankful for the space to unwind and decompress daily.

Three lifeguards on duty and I'm reprimanded because my kids (age 9 and 5) get more than 10' from me in 3' of water. I'm literally in the water with them and told I need to get closer to them.... In the 3' deep end. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous and I seriously felt harassed. Just left after this as I no longer felt comfortable swimming. My kids HATE the kid zone to the point they won't even go in. Going back to the Y.
