This is my favourite spot in Burlington; you can dine in, order bagel sandwiches for takeout or pick-up or order dozens of bagels to take home with you and believe me, it's worth it. It's has family-friendly vibes and is always packed with happy customers and the staff are very friendly and patient. The owner, Joe, is very friendly and spends time speaking with customers which goes a long way. They have so many great variety of bagels, freshly baked in-house and so many breakfast and lunch options. We tried "Smoked Salmon Bagel with Cream Cheese" and "Ham & Egg Bagel". On the first day that me and my girlfriend arrived to Toronto she wanted to head over to Niagara Falls and as we made our way down there, we had to get breakfast as we had arrived from a redeye flight with that being said she wanted a bagel on the way down to Niagara Falls like I said so we stopped and stumbled upon JC's hot bagels. When I tell you, this is one of the best bagels I've had in my life. I am not joking. I used to live in New York, so I know what a good bagel is and what a good bacon egg and cheese is supposed to taste like this right here was up to par and met every single one of my expectations. I read about this place on Blogto and I was fascinated about it. I wasn't sure why people rave about a Bagel place and people mentioned long lineups sometimes. This got my curiosity. We went there for lunch not knowing what this place is about. The young lady asked me what I would like, I ordered Smoked Salmon. She asked me if I wanted cream cheese, I said is it free. She replied politely there is an extra cost, I said ok. I asked her for her advice on which cream cheese goes well with it. She suggested dill pickle cream cheese, I got all the veggies with it. When I picked it up, it weighed at least 3 lbs. We opened the box and it looked amazing. We took one bite and we were in heaven. It was a perfect balance with the dill pickle cream cheese and the smoked salmon along with the veggies. The bagel was so fresh and soft. I could have eaten 2 more. Normally I don't like dill pickle but now I am a fan. This is my favorite Bagel place. I was about to leave and I saw one of the owners. I told her the food is delicious. She asked me if it was my first time there. I said yes. I told her I came from Toronto to try her food because of what I read. She said since it was my first time there, she had to give me some bagels to take home. I have never received such amazing customer service from an owner. I was in shock, I had a big smile all day. I ordered online because I assumed it would be busy on a Saturday morning. It was incredibly busy. I ordered around noon and it said pickup would be 12:30. When I got there, they weren't ready yet. By 12:50 I asked the cashier about the order and they explained they didn't have it. Then they said it was something about online ordering not getting printed. I didn't end up getting my order until about 1:15. When I did get my order, I enjoyed the egg and cheese sandwich I got. It was huge and well worth the money. I was pleased to have breakfast here during my trip to Ontario. The staff was helpful "translating" my American breakfast desires (tobassco sauce, lots of ketchup, American cheese, etc.) to the Canadian equivalent for cheese, but they had all the rest of my desires, including everything bagels. I don't know why it's taken me so long to try this spot but I'm glad I finally did. I had my dog with me, so my friend actually went in to order for me so unfortunately I'm lacking that experience an opinion until I visit again (which I'm hoping is soon!). I ordered a breakfast bagel with egg bacon cheese and cream cheese on an everything bagel. I never used to think there was a difference between montreal bagels or...non...montreal bagels but JC's certainly set themselves aside from the MTL. To be honest, I don't think you can compare them so I refuse to choose which one is better. These were massive, and well packed in a plastic container instead of a paper bag - I appreciated this because it would have gone everywhere otherwise. JC's Hot Bagels is decent for a neighbourhood bagel joint but also very overpriced. I had to grab quick lunch on my way to an errand and was craving a smoked salmon bagel. Google maps directed me to JC's Hot Bagels and it was my big mistake for not checking Yelp first. I ended up paying $46 dollars for four bagels that were very mediocre. The restaurant itself was very busy--given that it's the only bagel place in the vicinity (other than maybe Tim Hortons). The only exciting part of my experience was getting to choose from the different types of cream cheese. The dill cream cheese was especially good! The bagels are pretty good, soft and a bit chewy--just how they should be. Long story short, it was my only option for a smoked salmon bagel in the neighbourhood which seemed to briefly satisfy the craving. Was it worth it? Not exactly, but my options were very limited. read more

Pathetic Food! I tried the corned beef wrap and it had everything except corned beef. They would put just 3 or 4 thin slices of corned beef and "beef" (pun intended) the wrap up with tomatoes, onion and other stuff. Come on folks! I wanted to eat good meat and not some raw veggies. They love the up sell on the cheese slices!! Ok if you don't know any better. The bagels are fresh but are not Montreal style but rather doughy and dense. I had the BLT on a poppyseed bagel for $5.69 plus tax. I was shocked when the lady serving me only put 2 ripped pieces of bacon on my sandwich, 2 small slices of tomato and a partial piece of lettuce. The bacon is kept warm in a soup dispenser and the strips are entangled. Staff just rips off a chunk so you don't even get a nice full slice of bacon. For this price, I would expect better attention to detail and a bit more bacon. Also they will ask you if you want cheese on your sandwich about 20x before you get to the cashier - they must be on a cheese commission program. And when the cashier asked if I did have cheese, which I said no, he still double checked with the staff. I guess my integrity can be called into question when there is a cheese slice involved. I did bring it to the attention of the owner who gave me a blank stare and didn't seem interested in my feedback. Will not go back ever again. Try Bagel House PS- the coffee is weak and overpriced.
