Extremely Disappointing Experience at JCPenney Portraits My family and I booked a 1st birthday photo shoot for my niece this morning at 10:30 AM, and unfortunately, what should have been a special memory turned into an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience. Yesenia was in charge of editing and presenting our photos. From the moment we arrived, we were met with an attitude. We said hello to her, and she completely ignored us while staring at us with a straight face. We decided to brush it off because we were there to celebrate my niece and were excited about her first birthday photos. However, when Yesenia presented us with the photos, I was completely disappointed. My niece had cooperated throughout the entire photo shoot, so we were excited to see the final results. Instead, several of the photos selected showed her blinking or looking away from the camera. We politely asked if the gentleman who took the photos had taken any additional pictures with the same backdrop that we could choose from, preferably ones where my niece was actually looking at the camera. Yesenia rudely responded, "What you see here is all there is." We were confused because it sounded as though there had been additional photos taken. Rather than trying to help us or explain the situation, she continued to speak to us in a disrespectful manner. Eventually, my sister asked Yesenia if she was always this rude to paying customers. Yesenia responded, "Only to the people that deserve it," while laughing under her breath. The situation then escalated when Yesenia called my sister a "f*ing bitch"** and used other derogatory language toward her before storming out of the store with a picture of my sister. This entire interaction was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. We were paying customers who came in expecting to celebrate my niece's first birthday and leave with beautiful memories. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and upset. Customer service should never involve insulting, belittling, or using profanity toward customers. We sincerely hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the way customers are treated in the portrait department. We came in to celebrate a special milestone for our family. We should not have had to deal with this kind of behavior. read more

I've visited this studio several times for my kids' birthday photos and our family Christmas pictures, and every experience has been amazing. The photographers are always kind and friendly, even apologizing if they happen to be running behind. It does get very busy during the holidays, so I recommend planning ahead. We're not overly picky, so our sessions are always quick and stress-free. Special thanks to Kori, Kayla, and Annie for their outstanding customer service--they were truly wonderful! First, we arrived to our appointment on time (actually 10 minutes early) and I purposely pick the time of the appointment to get my son in the best mood to cooperate... We waited until they were half an hour late at taking us. By that time, he was already fussy! Mind you, I am talking about an eighteen month old toddler. Timing is everything! What's the point of an appointment (for a toddler at that!) if we can't be guaranteed that time slot? The photographer herself was also impatient. I also believe that there were many possible great shots that could have been taken if the photographer wasn't too busy reviewing her shots. Yes, my son was very active but we got him to smile many times, but during those moments she was so busy looking at her camera reviewing her shots. While making sure she got shots, she MISSED shots in the process. Also, at the end, she rushed through the selection of photos for me to choose. I believe she did filter so many better shots than the ones she selected for my gallery. I did end up paying $120 just for the four OKAY photos that OKAY photos, not great photos for the price they're charging..I didnt wanna waste the time i spent timing his nap, taking him to JCP, getting him dressed, etc so i bought the "okay" photos. We went to take our first family photos with me, my husband and my one year old daughter. I understand the holidays are busy but we arrived at 6:45 for a 7pm appointment and didn't get our pictures taken until 8pm. By that time our one year old was antsy and getting restless. The air conditioning didn't seem to be working so the waiting area was so hot and uncomfortable. The front desk ladies were very positive and nice. But our photographer seemed very tired and not into it. Again, I understand it's busy around the holidays. But I was really hoping he would help make my baby smile. He would use a squeaky toy just to have her look at the camera but nothing further like I expected. He also was going very fast with every pose it seemed so rushed and uncomfortable. U can tell in our poses he should have corrected our head gestures or had us scoot in more etc. so some of our pictures are very awkward. And I get we have a one year old and it's not always easy. Once we reviewed our digital images we were shocked of the some of the bad quality of the images. Did not seem fully focused and blurry. Maybe I expected too much. But we will definitely not be returning. I was going to have a personal photographer take our pictures but I just assumed JCPenney was more professional, especially with kids and making our memories look legit. read more

Trust the reviews, go somewhere else. This is their second time, sending me photos, and they came damaged. Aside of that, I had issues even trying to track my order. They gave me no order confirmation, life touch, didn't know what I was talking about when I called for info.. they said I needed a confirmation number which was never given to me, somehow the photos got sent which was good, but they came damaged. This place used to be very good for photos, has definitely gone downhill. Staff there is no help at all. Come to find out, they entered my email wrong when doing the order, but they lied and said that a confirmation email doesn't go out instead of just fixing the issue. A representative from the chat function had to tell me that. So frustrating. read more

Been here at JCP in VG once before. Last time got good pictures and bought the 2 year package. This time: not so lucky. The pictures just had no character or personality. After reviewing the pics at home, I really only liked 1 of 20. I called next day and turns out the manager took the photos. Angie,the manager, said I purchased the digital album, and it was nonrefundable. There was nothing she could do). The photos were lifeless. Rather than working with my child, she tried posing my one year old. For someone to be running the place to have neither passion nor customer service for the job is beyond me. read more

JCP Portraits is located in the second floor of JC Penny @ Victoria Gardens, I was quite impressed how busy they were (we had an appointment) and they were slightly behind, no big deal but I did want to comment on the photos taken, very mediocre, we ended up paying for the digital package along with some other added fees due to it being "4" in one photo, and each person = $10 so in our case it was $40 or they close you on their "membership" which is $30 so all in all, you're buying the membership. The reason why I say the photoshoot/photos are mediocre is simply due to that fact that they were blurry, we printed some locally and sadly blurry. I am cutting my losses here, leaving a review and will not be back. I won't even attempt to go for a refund. read more

Tbh the reviews concerned me a bit but no other studios were available to accommodate the time slots that worked for us due to my out of state family's short visit. 12.31.2022- under staffed, bunch of people scheduled but the 2 girls working there handled it pretty well. They were nice, professionals with a smile and did everything they could to provide a great experience. JCP should definitely give them a raise or bonus or some recognition. read more

This is our third time coming back to jcp, and they never fail to impress us! We're always seen on time, we're always greeted, and they're very sweet! Emily is so patient with my daughter, she gives us really good suggestions on background choices and props. So I was surprised one day by my baby's grandma with these jc pictures I really think they are adorable just wasn't expecting the surprise.

Please don't waste your valuable time. I booked an appt online for my two year old. I even called the studio to get details. When I arrived I was told that I was notified via voicemail that they were delaying my appt by almost 3 hours. I tried to explain that this was not possible because I have a fully dressed toddler who would not be able to wait that long. I asked to speak to the manager and was informed that I was speaking to her. This explains it all. Customer service is severely lacking and it comes from leadership. I did not receive an apology, no offer to get me in asap, or even find me another location that would be able to take me. So disappointing. I was actually looking forward to being able to go somewhere local to get photos. read more

Arrived on time for our appointment, and had to wait for over an hour past our appointment time. I have three older children and a baby. I told the photographer I wanted a picture with all four children and a family photo. She proceeds to rush through a bunch of cheesy photos of my three older children holding props. I kept thinking why would I want a bunch of pictures of only 3 out of 4 of my children. Then she takes a bunch of awkward family photos of, one with the baby on my husbands head! By this time (hours) my 10 month old is fussy, and thats when she decides to take the picture I went there for, with the four children. Needless to say it didn't turn out well. Then we had to wait another hour to see our photos. None of the pictures taken were worth the money they charge. I let them know I wasn't happy with the photos. They said we would still have to pay the sitting fee of $89 and we could schedule another appointment, but we would have to pay another $89 for that session as well and just hope that the photos come out better. After hours and over $200, we ended up with one horrible picture of our four children and one decent family photo for a Christmas card! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS PLACE!!! read more

I can't believe I paid $200 smh the manager was rude gave off a negative vibe . It's been more than 48hrs and I havent received a receipt or any proof of my photos I do not feel good about this. I wish I would've read the reviews before booking an appointment for my 4 month old and daughter. I had the worse experience. The photographer was very unprofessional and seemed like she did not want to take the pictures. She was on her phone and didn't start our session until 25 minutes later. She asked to have my son on his feet when I told her he is not able to stand. She insisted and I had to tell her again he could not stand on his feet. I was not happy with the service and will not be booking this place again. To top it off I received my canvas portrait today and it was damaged. I do not recommend this place. If there was a minus one I would give them that! Horrible experience today. We had a 2:30 appointment and arrived early as requested when I booked photo appointment. When arriving the place was packed. When we signed in we were told there were 2 photo appointments ahead of us. So being an understanding person I gave my phone number and the girl said she would call when it would be our turn. A hour and a half later we never received a call and decided to go back. When arriving the photographer was already setting up someone who arrived after me to take their photos. I was like WTH? So she tells the other girl who was busy to help me. She was obviously irritated by this. So she took her sweet time. Finally around 4:20 she tells us we can start our photo shoot. She was rude, irritated and had no patience. I will never return to have photos taken here. Make sure your ready to wait hours and be treated rudely if you go here for photos!!!!!! JC Penny get it together! Front desk clerk rude telling us our Groupon code sent as a gift was insufficient to take the photos despite calling in advance confirming the needed information. Went here for my first family photo shoot with my newborn daughter, my appointment was at 6:45 on a Saturday night. When I arrived at 6:40 I was told the studio was 45 minutes behind schedule. My family didn't start our photo session until 8:30. I understand dealing with young kids all day and especially this time of year being extra busy but this is ridiculous. On top of being behind schedule the room we were in for pictures was hotter than hell and made my newborn very uncomfortable. And the workers were sweating bullets being in that room all day. The photographers were so helpful and friendly I don't want this review to effect them but I'm extremely disappointed with my first experience here. I will not be coming here again and I will not recommend them to any friends or family. read more
