I haven't been in JCPenney in a long while, but today I had to go in to return a few sweaters I bought online. I have to say I was impressed with the amount of employees they had working. I asked an employee which register I should go to and she went out of her way to find me a less busy line. The cashier was super friendly and nice. Always like JCPenney and can tell you that I am a regular other stores. For me the most important part is to save money to get good deals. And JC is one of the places where I always get it. This review is for *SEPHORA* inside of JCPennys. Even though it is smaller than the Sephora at Eastview, I prefer this one over Eastview. The lighting in Eastview is horrendous and the employees there are the worst. At this location, I was approached by Abby (who's eyebrows and hair were on point, by the way. I hate when I go to a makeup store and the employees look like garbage) and she was extremely helpful and didn't hound me like some stores do. She helped me find a good shade for my foundation and it was greatly appreciated. Sephora only carries high end, professional make up products. You will not find NYX, Wet n Wild, Covergirl, etc. here, and everything is a bit more expensive. I'm a fan of Urban Decay and Sephora's line. JCPenney, your typical suburban boutique with modest prices and an ok selection of clothes. It is nice to see that JCPenney is beginning to go back to their old ways after "questionable" sale tactics they made over the past few years but with that aside, how does this JCPenney hold up? Well being located n the Greece Ridge Mall is alright since this store has a great size to it. On the inside, the décor is surprisingly a tad bit modern then others. Well it isn't dated or isn't that sleek as it falls somewhere in the middle. The clothing displays and wall racks are stacked accordingly with the separate departments all holding up well with the selection and quality of materials. Downside? Well the prices here aren't always that good, especially if you are into designer wear and the latest trends. Don't want to pour out your pocketbook? Try the clearance rack if they have them, you may find a deal here and there but I have found little. JCPenney for me is a hit and miss. It has it's good clothing merchandise and nice layout but suffers from poor sales and lackluster management. What more are you expecting in a department store? read more

Just your average JCP. My local JCP so I seem to be in here more often than the Victor location. I love checking out their Christmas attire, I can always count on JCP for a great ugly sweater. This store is always clean and staff are always ready to help. I really enjoy looking at the jewelry. For some reason the display is always eye catching and I find myself looking for a new blingy purchase. I always can rely on their purse selection too. Maybe it's to be expected these days at department stores, but I was disappointed that there were very few employees. I just needed classic men's dress clothes, I knew my sizes and what items I needed, but there was not an employee in sight. The only one I found was at the customer service counter and she was busy ringing out a line of customers. Wandered around long enough to find what I needed, and was lucky to find some sales. This review is for "Sephora!!" I love that there is now a Sephora in Greece. It is so convenient, at least when you know what you're looking for and can go in and out. However, I was in a couple days ago and had a terrible experience. There must have been ten people there shopping (and this is a smaller store) and only one employee. This employee was doing a makeover for a customer. I saw at least 5 people go up to the cash register to pay and end up leaving (myself included) because we were waiting over 5 minutes with no one coming! This is not the first time this happened. I know the gentleman working saw us. And I for one had over $200 in merchandise I ended up just purchasing on Amazon prime when I left the store. Your loss Sephora, your loss. read more

The dresses in the picture under the 25% off sign are NOT on sale. It is there for bait. The lady at the counter did not care. She walked over to the rack with me and said the sign must be for the dresses about 8 feet to the left of of these. I told her I will remove the sale sign and she rudely said that it was not my job, it was theirs. Then she walked away without removing the sign. We put our other items down and left without buying anything. We will not be returning here any time soon. read more

I love Penneys, just because I am finally at the "misses" age, where I can find moderately priced women's apparel for work. They are currently carrying clothes from Mango, a department store that one only could find in Europe until this last year. If there is something that you really want but are reluctant to spend $35-40 outright for a piece of an outfit, wait 2-3 weeks and you will find it on the clearance racks. There are normally coupons in the paper for 15-30% off of select items. If you don't get a newspaper, you can find them online and download them into your phone. Read the fine print. Normally it excludes Nike Apparel (I found this out the hard way). If you spend a certain amount of money (in the store or at Sephora) you will get a printed receipt coupon that is: spend over $10, get $10 off, so don't throw it out! The shoes are where the outside entrance is, on the left, and mens/house stuff is upstairs. The dressing rooms are always a mess, don't be surprised if you walk in and there is like 400 things in there. Normally if you are super nice/patient with a member of the staff, they will scan coupons for you that they have next to them at the register. So be kind! The Sephora inside is great. It is smaller than the one at Eastview, but the staff is amazing. One of the members made a cheat sheet of her personal beauty regimen, and took the time to write up a list of her favorite products for me. Love that kind of service! The ladies are willing to go into the back and check things for you, make you samples of perfume before committing, and take you around the store to locate products. They are the experts and will help you match your skin tone to foundations and concealers. If you want to go to a Sephora Event (such as one hosted by Benefit) you need to sign up online ahead of time. Normally you will receive a free gift as well. Makeovers need to be scheduled ahead of time, and require a certain amount of money spent by the end. I am pretty sure that it is only $50 (which can go fast with high quality makeup). Lastly, you can use JCPenney gift cards and credit cards in the in house Sephoras. read more

I stopped in here for a trip to Sephora and to look for some new jeans. Simple! Easy! Kind of fun!! Sephora was a nightmare. I waited in line for 10 minutes for them to ring up ONE PERSON. The associates behind the counter were so busy laughing and joking with one another ("teehee!!! They should, like, NEVER schedule us together again. We get, like, nothing done!!") that the THREE of them couldn't manage to ring that girl up. I had my card in hand and was ready to make my trip at the counter quick and dirty so the poor girl behind me didn't have to wait. No lie- my bag sat on the counter, my order complete, as the associate stopped to look at whatever the other associate had on their phone. What??? Onto jeans. Found some super flare jeans (hellooooooo, 2002!!!!) that I can never find anywhere and I was stoked. Tried to find a register- impossible. All employees appeared to have either won at hide and seek or decided that that was the moment that they all went on break. OR Penney's has very few employees as of late. I'm going with the latter. Found a register with a blessed employee at it, finally. I should note that on this particular trip, I had dragged along my 2 months pregnant, very moody best friend who is typically the epitome of patience. The baby had stolen all of that and she was beginning to give me the stink eye after our experience in Sephora and the long trek to a register with an actual person at it. Upon getting to the register, I noted that I had found TWO employees- score! Someone could surely ring me out quickly to prevent the Pregnant Wrath I could feel emanating from my best friend. Alas- the one young male was ringing out the older female employee. I asked if he could ring me out. With a look of disdain, he grunted something that sounded like "yeah sure. When I'm done with her. " Okay. We can wait. Apparently whatever item that female employee was trying to buy didn't agree with their system. 10 minutes later- my baby cooking best friend was reaching Volcanic Explosion Status- I was rung out with not one word from Cranky Young Male. Not a hello. Not a goodbye. Not a thank you. Not even like, some mild eye contact to convince me that he wasn't some robot hired to take place of real employees. We raced out of Penney's, talking the whole time about how awful that whole thing was. How was that so awful? It was just makeup and jeans!! What the FUCK happened to Penney's?! We were 2 steps away from freedom and then we set off the alarm. Expecting to see an employee racing over to frisk us, we instead heard crickets. Again- no employees. I dig through my bag and find my beloved flare jeans (only my love for capturing my style that hasn't changed since I was 17 could've kept me waiting in line!) HAD THE GODDAMN INK TAG ON IT. Back to Cranky Young Male's register. He had either acquired an invisibility cloak or joined in on hide and seek because in the 3 minutes we were away, he was gone. To customer service!!!!!!! .....and a line 15 people long. Pregnant Best Friend had had enough. She grabbed my jeans, hopped the line and demanded that they take it off immediately. They didn't seem interested at all in our clearly harrowing ordeal. They simply stated that the ink tag would remain until I found my receipt. Dig, dig, dig. Finally find it, ink tag removed and I think we sprinted out of that store. WE WERE THERE FOR 90 MINUTES!!! Penney's must be on some serious decline because I have NEVER seen such unhappy employees. Every single one of them (you know...all 5 of them we saw) were cranky, disinterested and looked like they hated their lives. Not to mention- the store has gone to HELL. The store carries clothes that you would find at Rainbow (not knocking Rainbow, it's just a cheap-but decent-store) with department store pricing. Navigating though there was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Everything is disorganized and just....no. Please Penney's. Just close already. We know that you're on your way out and the slow death that you're dying is just pitiful. Put yourself out to pasture, it's time. read more

I want to like JC Penney. The mini-Disney store that opened up in the kid's department is fun and a great way to get some Disney-themed merch for the young ones now that the Disney Store is now a distant memory. The men's department is expansive but sadly, for my wallet, expensive. The well-documented issues with their pricing policies have only served to revert them back to their old ways: list a ridiculously high price and then say there's a sale, only having the sale price still pretty high as it is. So while I enjoy the selection I often pass up on purchasing anything because of the price. My biggest problem with them, however, is the cashiers. I know it's a bit of a crap shoot but the last few times I have bought something, the cashiers have either been rude, unhelpful, or incompetent. Just yesterday I bought some shorts on clearance for next season and got home to discover the guy left the giant security tag on it. When I was checking out no one even knew where to stand in line due to the completely confusing and inefficient check out kiosks. As the holiday season approaches and those check out kiosks get clogged up and chaotic, JC Penney will once again remind us to ask..."Why didn't we get this online?" read more

The store is a staple stopping place for a majority of clothing needs. The prices aren't too bad, and there are sales that are relatively reasonable (on the high side). sadly there is a few issues with the odour and cleanliness with the dressing rooms and the checkout stations are always crowed because there are few and far between.
