Buying clothes for my son, the clerk asked me if I wanted to open an account. I had had an account in the past but have not used it in several years.She asked me very personal and sensitive information within earshot of several customers and then repeated my information out loud as I gave it to her. She could not find an application in English and submitted mine in Spanish. When I receive my bill, it was all in Spanish. It appears that they do not keep applications at the registers in English. All the music playing while I was shopping was in Spanish. I wouldn't mind so much, however, when I receive my bill, it was not in English. When I telephoned to request an English Version and inquire as to what my account number was since I could not locate it on the bill, they were unable to give me that information for security reasons. If it was possible I would give my rating a zero. I went in to the fine jewelry department with my engagement ring to have it repaired . I brought in the missing diamond and my ring to have sent in to be fixed. Teresa the clerk was completely unhelpful and had to call the manager Matt to help her look up my care package . I waited easily 30 min to find out I can't send my ring in without the band and to top it off they lost the diamond and didn't even look for it or apologize for loosing the diamond since it's covered under my plan .regardless my ring is sentimental as it's my wedding ring and they were unbelievably careless and clueless to what customer service is . Livid I have to deal with these two idiots again tomorrow to get my ring fixed . read more

I'm excited that the JCPenney in Santa Rosa are in the process of updating their store with new floors, lighting, fitting rooms, more space and clothing more fashionable especially to younger people. I don't know if they are doing that with all of the stores, but they are definitely trying to improve the one in Coddingtown, which is cool...I'll give them credit for that. I can't give them five stars because I think that they could have gone for a better array of colors in the store...the store is too bright. But maybe that's just me. I'm disappointed that their sports department no longer supports the Dallas Cowboys, which they used to do in the past along with the local teams. I think they used to have a sponsorship with America's Team, but no longer. One other thing...I went in recently for Nike running shoes, and the salesgirls there were AWESOME...I got exactly what I wanted. I love this store. Im a middle aged woman who is a professional by day and a music lover by night. I can find clothes that are age appropriate for work and and that show my rocking side when I go to local shows or even to the City. I love the Worthington line for work clothes. High quality, lots of different cuts and colors and not at all 'dorky' plus... pants that are long enough ( Im tall). The I 'heart' Ronson line offers sparkly, rocking tops that aren't skin tight. I even found a cute little fake leather jacket that I love and can wear Spring through Summer when I go to local music venues. The JCP and A.N.A. section are great for every day casual. Oh! the dress department is very good. The Costume Jewelry department if fabulous and I Love the Sales, Sephora is amazing and the home department has come a LONG way. The only thing I dont like is that other than the Modern Cut Worthington line, I cant find pants, i.e. jeans, that are long enough. Also Im a little curvy, not in my 20s or 30s but I want to look cool and hip once in awhile and their jeans are made for either teenie boppers or old ladies. Give Penney's a try!! I am disappointed in this location, as I am a long term JCPenny portrait client and have had much better experiences in other locations. Would not recommended this JCPenny portrait location. Try calling the store from home ... no one ever answers. I even had the message say the operator wasn't available. That being said, I had to make a special trip to find a white spaghetti bowl and the store/computer were out. They should have given me the extra large one they had in its place. Hard to find salespeople in the store. It would be nice if they installed more price checking machines. The girl in shoes who has been there forever should take some 'happy' pills. read more

This store gets two stars for being pretty organized and having good prices, but just trying to process an online return took me about 45 minutes and the workers seem clueless, hence the two star review. My husband's grandmother ordered him some shirts that were much too big. She had them sent to us with a gift invoice in the package. On the back of the invoice it says to return in store for an easy and quick return process. So I drive up to the store and naturally go to the kiosk labeled customer service. I waited for about 10 minutes before it was my turn only to have to lady tell me she couldn't help me with an online return and to go upstairs to the "catalog returns." I thought that was strange but I made my way upstairs and wandered around looking for something that was labeled 'online' or 'catalog.' I found nothing so I went to customer service booth up there and asked the man if I could do an online return, he thought probably could. I told him it was a gift, I had the gift invoice and asked if I could get a gift card instead of refunding the purchaser, he said he wasn't sure, then told me his computer wasn't letting him process the return and I should go to the online help place. I asked where that was and pointed it to me. Turns out the jcp.com pick up booth is in fact the booth for any online issue. So I go and no one is there. I look around and can't find an associate anywhere near by either. Finally I track someone down and she comes over to help me. But it turns out she doesn't know how to do the return for a gift card either. Two more associates and a manager plus another 20 minutes or so of waiting and I FINALLY get the return processed and get a gift card. At every other retailer I've ever shopped at, a gift return with an invoice or receipt is an easy process, I was shocked at how ridiculously long it took and how many people couldn't help. I shop here fairly often, both in the store and online. There aren't a lot of sales people, but I don't mind, as I can always get help when I need it. The employees are very polite and will continue to help me until I get what I need. I mostly buy things for my house, and their selection and quality, for the price, is excellent. I do buy some clothing and wish the racks were not so jammed. read more

If I could mark less than one star, I would. I bought a JCP coffee maker and when it was brewing one morning I heard commotion. When I got up about 15 minutes later, the kitchen looked like a sauna - steam everywhere. I noticed the side of my cabinet a little warped from the dampness since the coffee pot is under that cabinet. I took it back to Penneys and got another one & I explained to her what happened and she sold me another one, but didn't say I should keep this one for the claim. I contacted Penneys mid July, talked about the claim, received paperwork from their claim rep in Montreal, Canada and no one even asked if I still had it or said I should have kept the old coiffee maker until TODAY. What kind of crappy service is this? When I say crappy, I'm being polite because another word comes to mind. After shopping there the 30 years they've been in Santa Rosa, I probably won't shop there anymore. ____________________________________________________________________________ The JCPenney's store manager is working with me and that's good, but the Cook's brand coffee maker isn't good for us in the United States....maybe it's good in Canada where they make it.. read more

Steer clear from getting pictures done here..always running late and under staffed! I've had my kids take pictures here for years but I've finally decided it's just not worth it anymore. The studio is always running behind, they're always under staffed and the waiting area is a nightmarer. Our last visit was actually one of the better visits we've had but the photographer was either new or just having an off day. I asked to get a couple pictures w/ my daughter behind the red backround but he couldn't find it and came out w/ a floral pink looking one, it was ok, I got one good picture w/ it. He didn't have any good ideas on how to pose the kids so they were just kind of blah..I came to pick my pictures up a couple days later and there was 1 person working who was currently busy with another person picking out pictures, editing them, etc. So myself and another group waiting to be pictured had to sit for over 15 minutes waiting for the attendant to finish up with her previous session. All I wanted was my pictures, if I were waiting for a portrait session, I probably would have left. I'll start paying professional photographers to shoot my kids and family..they're almost the same price and you get the rights to your photos! Bye Bye JCPenney Portraits! Extremely unhappy!!!! If I could give negative stars I would!! Ordered two pieces of furniture one to be delivered between 8-14 days and the other in 8-12 weeks. The first order never was put in the computer so three weeks out I called to check on the order. Got a sorry we the order was never put in. Had to wait another two weeks. The second couch I was told would be delivered and it wasn't. The couch never made it on the truck. I was told again it would be delivered and the same thing. At this point I'm 40 weeks prego and had given away our old couches in prep to receive the new. Now they are telling me it's going to be another week cause they only come to our area once a week. I'm being induced two days before they would like to deliver so I tell them their new date won't work. Oh so guess what, I can wait another week after that. So new baby and no couches!!! Couldn't be more pissed at this point!! Don't ever order from them unless you want total disappointment! read more

Terrible Customer Service STARTING AT THE TOP. I purchased mens boxer briefs made of a blended, colored, fabric. I washed it by itself before wearing. I subsequently wore and slept in. It ruined my very expensive (i.e., a few hundred dollars) Egyptian cotton sheets.I looked on line and a comment on the product was the fabric color rubbed off (i.e., JC knew it but still sold it!).I went to JC and had to work through multipe layers of idiots saying nothing could be done. Keep in mind I had my briefs and ruined sheets. I pressed on simply as it mattered even though I was spending a lot of time. A clerk was eventually able to get in hold of the top manager on duty. She took forever to show up and a clerk stupidly mention she wanted to go have dinner so the B^$*& kept me waiting for about and hour. THIS WAS THE TOP MANAGER ON DUTY! Finally showed up and said all she could do is give me half off another set of sheets. Of course, JC does not carry sheets anywhere near the quality of the sheet that were ruined! REMEMBER I HAD THE SHEETS WITH ME TO SHOW THE QUALITY. Terrible store. Terrible corporation. Don't shop at any store. Hopefully they will go out of business and the Manager will be laid off with all the rest of those reaponsilbe for their customer service decision. I lost two hundred and fifty dollars because I purchased a twenty dollor brief at JC. read more

I shop here when I am in the area and the deals are so good I stock up on things I don't need but love. I started shopping on the website as well. Everything is so nice and affordable. Shopping here I dress better. I love the jewelry department as well. It takes me back to childhood shopping getting quality clothes at a great price I will have for years to come. I love the sales. I can even get my makeup here as well and I love it. This store is the best thing in that mall the Macy's sucked. I love the jewelry as well. I would never ever get portraits taken at JCP again! We waited almost an hour and a half for our 'appointment'. This is just unacceptable especially for a photo session with a newborn! We were told the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes, which we were not thrilled with but understood and were willing to wait. If we would have been informed that it would be longer, we would have rescheduled instead of wasting our time and then having our session ruined. We have a 5 week old so we made sure we changed and fed him before our appointment. With the appointment being so delayed by the time we were called he was awake with a dirty diaper and wanting to eat. Our photographer was awful. She had no creativity and no suggestions. If we didn't explain to her about the lovely photos we saw on jcp's website, we would have ended up with photos of our newborn in a diaper. The camera's battery died halfway through the shoot, and several of our shots had a grey spot on them. We were rushed through the photo shoot and the choosing process. I did not end up with the beautiful newborn photos I had envisioned after seeing all the beautiful newborn photos on jcp's website. I am so incredibly disappointed with the photographer and the organization of this studio. I would not recommend coming here especially if you have a baby. read more

I am so upset about the way I have been treated by this JC Penney store. I fell in the store on a rainy day. They had their big rug at the entrance and a runner that extended from the rug But there were no clear signs cautioning customers. Well gues what I fell. Some employees were very helpful when I fell but then there were some that just went on with their business. The one girl who helped took my information and told me I would be called to be checked on that evening. Did I get a call? NO the first contact I had was with Sabrina when I called the following week. Of course for awhile that was useless since it took me calling and then writing a letter to get a response again. Then she seemed to be more helpful but then that was about a month after I fell. They gave my information to AIG Insurance who finally contacted me And that was an event in itself The woman agent Karen left a message and when I called back it stated she was out of the office or on another case but would get back to me as soon as possible. Well finally getting back to me was 2 weeks after the first call and that was with me calling everyday leaving a message. Well I finally spoke to Karen and because I fell JC Penney and AIG have no responsibility. I have walked into this store many many times without falling or anything happening but here on a rainy day when extra rugs are used for what reason if there was no hazard. Well I have just learned a lesson. Lesson learned is that Santa Rosa JC PENNEY has no regard for their customers. If there was no problem with slippery floors why use extra rugs , why not put signs of caution out where people can see them not back against the wall out of view. And why tell someone to go to a physcian if they have no intention of having any responsibility. And why refer me to an insurance company or pretend you care when in actually you don't. And why didn't Karen the AIG agent respond faster to tell me they aren't responsible instead of leading people hanging Oh they won't pay the $400 plus dollars for my medical bills that I am left with but they did offer to give me a $75 gift card to their store. But why would I take that when I have no intention of ever going into that store again. I believe that stores know if their company will pay or not why not say something upfront instead of leading people on. The funny thing is that I hear stores do have insurance for when these kind of things happen but I guess they really don't care about customers and their safety just their sales. Yes, I know working retail is not a 'joy'....but unfortunately 'mature' (and I use 'mature' to differentiate between younger persons who have been pleasant and others) sales personnel in: women's, bedding, home, were either bored, rude/condescending, just did not want to be there. I do not shop a great deal brick & mortar, but when I do - there certainly are a number of places in SR and surrounding area(s) that have either trained their personnel well; or, were lucky in whom they employed. DO NOT BUY A SECTIONAL SOFA FROM PENNEY'S! I would rate jCPenneys a negative score if I could and their customer service is HORRIBLE!!! My story is by far too long, but I want to make sure that no one goes through the same experience that we have encountered. My husband and I ordered a new sectional sofa in the middle of November of 2013. The salesperson told us that we would receive the sectional in 6-8 weeks. This is where the customer should beware! JCpenneys does NOT ask for your email to track your furniture. They only ask for your phone number and tell you that someone will call when your furniture will ship. After waiting the full 8 weeks, we never received a phone call. We called their customer service number in which you speak to a different person every time from somewhere in the U.S. and they have no idea what is going on besides what they read on their computer screen - they are NO help! They kept telling us that someone would call soon to give us our ship date. After calling customer service several times, the next representative told us that the sofa would now take 10-12 weeks to ship. After waiting the 12 weeks, we call again and it would get pushed out by the week. No one knows any information about our sofa, the reason the ship date continues to get pushed out etc... We called the store and spoke to the same sales lady that sold us the sofa and she was shocked that we hadn't received our sofa yet. She tried to help but couldn't find our information because JCPENNEYS computer system went down and lost our information. After 20 weeks of waiting, we have STILL NOT received a phone call. Needless to say, we are NOT buying a sofa from them. I honestly don't know how this company can get away will treating their customers like this. This company has put a bad taste in my mouth and I will NEVER recommend anyone buying furniture from them! read more

I, for one, am extremely satisfied with the new remodel! Before, the store seemed very cluttered and annoying to navigate. Now, the whole store is open and easy on the eyes! Almost everyone that works here that I have come in contact with is very helpful and pleasant. All the same brands that they "used to sell" are indeed still being sold here, with a few better brands featured as well. I am in love with the I (heart) Ronson brand! Very trendy and caters to many personalities including me- a curvy young woman who is way past her junior sizing and style preferences, but not yet craving sweater vests and elastic waist trousers. And I LOVE that they offer a Sephora!! All the great makeup brands that can feed my addiction! (Including my new love-- 'Makeup Forever'!!) Yes- there is a price tag, but that is what you expect with the very reputable brands they carry. Plus you get the added bonus of using your JCPenney credit card if that price tag doesn't want to come out of your bank account quite yet! All in all- I am very pleased with the new changes, and it is safe to say that I am a reborn customer!! I think that these great changes could possibly get this mall back in business!! read more

I tried to shop at the newly revamped Pennys store in Santa Rosa at Christmas time. The store was not busy, and I soon found out why. The clothing selection was geared to petite women, or so modern looking you wondered do people really dress like this everyday! I roamed every inch of the store, and couldn't find a thing to buy for my two teen age granddaughters. Everything looked so cheap. I did buy one thing in the Sephora dept. which I was surprised to find was available there. Sephora at Penny's has the worst supply of product I've seen. They are always out of anything you want. They offer to order it for you, but it takes at least 2 weeks to get it! Why the low inventory is a puzzle. I ended up doing all my shopping at Macy's up the mall which by the way was crowded with shoppers. I understand why. I'm not going back to Penny's again. I feel once Target comes into the mall, Penny's sales are going to plummet even more. I would not be surprised if they close. It's sad to see what has happened to this once popular store. read more
