The only thing I recommend this mall doing is to have more lines for their check out area because I feel as if they need more lines for the customers to come to jcpenney for a quick and easy service! My review is for the JCPenney Salon Manager Frankie. I went in to take my family pictures on Saturday. Upon arrival my son was asleep and he had messed up his hair the way he had fallen asleep. Frankie so graciously and happily helped me by letting me borrow some gel to fix my sons hair. SEPHORA INSIDE!!! A decent sized one too and REALLY, this is one of the most cleanest biggest Penneys i've set foot into. While my old childhood girlfriends' mom's used to take them to Bloomies, i was stuck at Penneys, but i would hide any purchases in my Wet Seal bag. JC Penney Salon: My sister made an appointment to have her hair trimmed and styled for her wedding day. When she arrived for her appointment she was told that the stylist would be right with her. 15 minutes later she was informed that there was a mix up and that the appointment was never actually recorded in their appointment book. The receptionist then proceeded to tell her that she could stick around if she wanted to see if anything might open up. Like my sister had time to sit there and wait for MAYBE something to open up. There was no genuine attempt to make up for their stupid mistake, which made the situation all the more insulting and infuriating. Un-effing-believable!!! My sister traveled from Holland where she lives with her Dutchy hubby (yes, The Netherlands, Europe, literally halfway around the world!!!) to the states so that our family could all be there for her big day, and this poor excuse for a salon blew her off like she wasn't worth the effort. Never in my life... On the flipside, I was able to book an emergency appointment with Casa de Bellini Salon and Spa on Whittier Blvd. and Valley Home Ave. Desiree took her in RIGHT AWAY and her hair turned out great! JCPenny truly is a great spot for quality bedding and linens! They have a variety of items in a range of prices. I found a great selection of single items, blankets, comforters or complete sets! The staff is friendly and helpful. I walked through parts of store but was really there for the linens. I was impressed with the womens clothing and purses kept focus on my task. Today I was really upset & couldn't believe the customer service I received from a lady named deacon from the return area . Like most of us customers we don't always have our receipts . But the item I wanted to return had all the original tags & all I wanted was to do a exchange for a different size shorts . & most stores allow that . I love this location! It is always clean and well stocked. However, it is not designed for the disabled. There is a lot of walking involved and signage isn't very good. So you could walk the whole store before you actually find where you are going. Great if you are trying to get your steps in on your pedometer. This is situated right into the Whittwood Mall (well that's what it used to be called but I still call it like this) It's right next to Petsmart, Target, Bank of America, and a food court. The building is pretty big, considering that it only has 1 floor. large parking lot and they close late during Christmas time. They do have the usual clothes sections, jewelery, shoes, accessories, bed, bath, kitchen, catalog services, etc. Nothing really special about this particular one, just anyother ordinary Jcpenney. oh and the employees here are nice ^_^ read more

Like all the other ones I been to, decent choices, price is good, seems a bit understaffed, and some employees seem happy but some need to be let go. There's one near the appliances department, a girl, so freaking pushy I almost walked out on her. GMIT is cleaning her room in preparation for leaving for college, and she found an ancient JC Penney gift card from 2003. I had written the balance in sharpie on the card and GMIT didn't recall having ever gone back to the store to use up the balance. I didn't remember either. That WAS 8 years ago, after all. So GMIT tried using the card at the register, and was told the balance was zero. GMIT persevered and was sent to customer service, where the rep called a central database and discovered a sizable balance still existed on the card. This was a lengthy and convoluted process. The customer service rep could have brushed GMIT off by saying the card had been zeroed out, but she took extra steps to verify whether or not the card had a balance. Customers are definitely appreciated here. One final note: With the gift card, GMIT bought a tiny dress, which is bound to Get Me In Trouble if Mr. P ever sees her in it... read more

My sister got my daughter a cross necklace for her first communion and we got it blessed and within a year or so the chain became tangled and broke so I took the necklace to get repaired at jcpenny since my sister got the plan there and was told that I would get a call within 6-10 weeks for the repair, fast forward I had to go back and forth for 3 months talking to associates customer service always getting told I would get a call back and never did. I finally called again after 3 months of trying to get my necklace back to find out they were calling another persons number who wanted a buyout for the necklace and so I lost my necklace my patience and was given nothing as compensation for the hassle I even had to go through to find out what happened to my necklace and on top of that I just get the buy out on a merchandise card. I ordered some shirts from the website. Unfortunately I did order the incorrect size. According to the receipt it said that the exchange would be much faster and easier if I go to a store. The clerk and the 2 other associates made it such a difficult task. They at first took the return and instead of putting the money on a JCPENNEY gift card. They put the money back in my account. Which takes up to 7 days to process. Then wanted me to buy the shirts again. I told them that didn't make sense that they should have put it on a gift card so the money would be available immediately to buy the exchange. I got the same shirts I ordered online but a different size. For some reason on the return, they adjusted the tax to a 2 cent difference to their favor. When they ordered the new size it was 2 cents off and wanted me to pay the difference. After 45 minutes they finally got it correct. Once these new shirts come in....trust me, I will NEVER do business with JCPENNEY AGAIN!!!! By the way, my order came out to such a high price that I got free shipping. They put it in for in store delivery. Now I have to go back and deal with these people again when it could have just went to my house like my original order. read more

My husband hates shopping but, once per year, we go to Penney for his work clothes. He can usually find what he needs and we're done. We entered the men's department on Sunday morning and were immediately struck by the overwhelming mess. This was not a sale weekend! What on earth happened? Everywhere we looked, clothes were piled on displays, shoved onto shelves and jammed into racks. One checkout stand was completely stuffed with bags and bags of clothes on the floor and piled high on the counter. The young men working that morning were very nice but, honestly, none of them know how to fold clothes. I was watching them try but they were so slow and inept (and unenthusiastic) they weren't making any headway at all. It was almost comical. The music was TOO LOUD, so loud my husband and I had to raise our voices just to hear each other when standing side-by-side; and the bombardment of Christmas music so early in November made it worse. A clerk was sympathetic but said even the manager has no control over volume; it's a CORPORATE decision. Well, corporate, that's a big mistake. We left in disgust and went to Khol's. Same shopping center, same day. Not my favorite store but--everything was very tidy and organized, we found everything we wanted and the music was at the right volume. Sorry, Penney's. read more

This review is for the Sephora inside JCP. Ugh where so I begin? I walked in to find a replacement for my foundation I had bought previously (at the same location a few months back) anyways I walk in three employees where there with about 2-3 customers. Neither of the workers had asked if anyone needed assistance. Two of them were too busy talking and doing nothing behind the counter. After walking passed them SEVERAL times to see if they would notice I needed assistance & nope they could have cared less. I walked up to an employee i didn't catch her name otherwise her name would be in this but she wore glasses. I politely asked her if she can match me for a foundation immediately she looks bothered took a deep sigh and said w. Attitude "What kind of skin do you have?" I answered nicely and she said again w. A bothersome tone "what brand do you want?!" I said I actually would like a sample because I'm not too sure. And she again w. Attitude said "oh you want samples?! Like how many! I said just about 2 just to compare. She walked away to the smashbox area I follow, she stands there for a few mins and walks away leaving me not says she'll be back. Not a word. I stood there for another 10 mins looking at different items she never came back. When I looked for her she was behind the counter again talking to the same employee from earlier. Brian was picking up comforters and pillows and saw that I put them items down to leave without buying the items, he took me over to his registers and he made up for the lack of customer service I exprienced , we got to talking and found out we both liked the Dodgers and he started pitching me on appliances and I'm not going to lie he was a smooth talker , he talked me into buying a new frigerator and stove . Hire more associates like him and you will gain loyal customers , he also told me he wasn't a supervisor, the way he carried himself proved at least to me he is supervisor material . i like the new penney!! i get what they are doing. they changed their business model. they have a stores within a store concept. they carry, mango, bisou bisou, etc.. there is a sephora inside too. really think more people should go check it out. for some reason, i prefer stand alone JCPs to the ones at the malls. whitwood is convenient because you can go to von's, petsmart, target, world market, kohl's, bank, post office, 24hr fitness, etc.. =) perfect for getting in and out faster. read more

This review is for Portrait Studio only. Terrible terrible customer service by Tracy. Our appointment was at 1:40-1:50 which means we can arrive between that time. We arrived at 1:50 exact. There was a couple who walked in seconds before us and Tracy was helping another family off to the side. After a couple minutes she helped the people before us and their appointment was at 2 and then we checked in right after. She went back to helping the family in the beginning which now it was 2:20 when she finished with them. She ended up helping the people whos appointment was at 2 and took them to the back. We asked why they were going if our appointment was before. She then went on and on talking loudly that since we got there "late" that she had taken a walk in at 1:45 her 2 o'clock got there first and if we were on time she would have taken us. Her demeanor was so rude and she had so much attitude. She also loved to talk because it was so hard for me to get a word in. I told her that we have kids here waiting and ours was first and my kids were already getting antsy. She went back to helping the couple. I went out and looked for a manager but I knew they were different departments, I was still upset and wanted to address it. The store manager came and Tracy left to the back room because she was upset. Ivonne the manager was soo nice. There was nothing really she could which I understood from the beginning like i said I wanted the issue addressed. But seriously if you have an appointment your waiting on in a window of 10 minutes you don't take a walk-in in the middle of it. And also if I make it on time you dont take the next person without telling us. If she would have said ill only be a few minutes or used some customer service this could have been different. In the end we had to drive all the way to Brea to take pictures. read more

Photo department customer services was awful, sent my mom and sister in law to take pics with baby on Monday, and workers proceeded to mutter under their breath, thinking they did not speak English, then had them wait three hours even though they had a 6pm appointment, it was not until the manager came in that they received proper customer service. The correct appointment was found, but at this point my family had been waiting for way too long, while being treated unfairly. What is up with that!! PORTRAIT STUDIO: This used to be great. The staff, particularly Amber, were great. Usually very on time and attentive during your session. We've been coming here for 8 years now (since the birth of my firstborn). In the last few years things have been going downhill... always running behind schedule. Ridiculously long waits are at the top of my list of peeves. Today just broke me though. We scheduled an appointment for this afternoon, and arrived on time and ready with two of my children for pictures. When we arrived, the studio was dark and there were two young ladies in there, who also had an appointment, waiting for someone to show up. They had been waiting for 40 minutes for a staff member to show up. Not sure if they ever got helped, but we bailed. It's frustrating to schedule an appointment, take the time to get my kids all done up for pictures, haul everyone down to the studio, just to have the photographers be a no show....and not even call us or have the courtesy to let us know that they couldn't be there. Unacceptable. Poor customer service. Very, very disappointed. read more
