PORTRAIT STUDIO: This used to be great. The staff, particularly Amber, were great. Usually very on time and attentive during your session. We've been coming here for 8 years now (since the birth of my firstborn). In the last few years things have been going downhill... always running behind schedule. Ridiculously long waits are at the top of my list of peeves. Today just broke me though. We scheduled an appointment for this afternoon, and arrived on time and ready with two of my children for pictures. When we arrived, the studio was dark and there were two young ladies in there, who also had an appointment, waiting for someone to show up. They had been waiting for 40 minutes for a staff member to show up. Not sure if they ever got helped, but we bailed. It's frustrating to schedule an appointment, take the time to get my kids all done up for pictures, haul everyone down to the studio, just to have the photographers be a no show....and not even call us or have the courtesy to let us know that they couldn't be there. Unacceptable. Poor customer service. Very, very disappointed. read more

During this JCPenny visit went in to exchange an online order. From the moment I walked inside I was pleasantly greeted by a young man named Sean, he also asked me if I needed help pointing me to the right direction. During my online exchange experience at the counter, I was helped by two friendly pleasant ladies Miriam and Jaime, they provided me with outstanding customer service and made my JCPENNEY experience a happy one. On my way out I realize I didn't have my car key, so on my way back to the customer service counter I approached a lady named Ramona and asked her if anyone had turned in a car key and she asked me what car model, so I told her, Ramona handed me my car key, she said a customer had already turned it in to loss prevention! This is my favorite JCPENNEY store because I always receive outstanding customer service from all employees from the moment I open that JCPENNEY door! Keep up the great customer service! read more

Don't ever shop here and never ever sign up for their credit cards. I made the mistake of Christmas shopping at this store. The staff is really good people. The problem is the stores policies. First off, return policy, they reduce the value of what you bought if not returned quickly. I found this out the hard way when my exchange turned out to be a huge loss. Second issue is the credit card scam they run. They will lie to you and say 0% apr, wrong...it's actually 30% then if your payment is not received by the 2nd then they charge a $30 late fee. No other credit cards or creditors do this. Usually you get a 15 day grace period. Even if the payment is postmarked the 1st but they receive on the 3rd. They will charge you. Be wise with your money and stay away from these scammers. Use any other credit card if you shop here or pay off the card in 1 day or else all the savings will turn into expenses. read more

The holiday season is the most stressful time Of the year. Budgets are tight, lines are long, and employees are often stressed more than the customers. But my experience the other day was remarkably unexpected. I don't intend to exaggerate the experience, but an employee by the name of Vicente made the entire unpleasant ordeal worth it. He warmly greeted me and my family and graciously helped us to find what we desired and saved our time. I don't know where you found him, but you should hire more people like him. I normally don't shop at JCPenney but my mom loves it. So she likes dragging me here when I go visit, I was surprised to find a lot of name brand house items for great sale prices. Their customer service was also great. Great place to get deals on house items! read more

If you order online for store pickup I suggest you pick up your order ASAP if you wait your order will be put back before the deadline date. I went to pick up my order and they "lost" one piece of four Brianna tried to look in every package for it but no luck and I had to suggest if it was in store or I had to make a return and reorder and repurchase. The pick up location in the home department was a mess so no wonder they lost parts of my order. How was all but one piece there. No luck finding it in store even though computer shows there was one so they shipped free to my house. Of course that's when her computer froze. Get organized. I was very disappointed in the service at the Sephora. After waiting a long time for someone to help me, I finally got help from Allison and then after a little while she just walked away and went and help someone else. Also they didn't have any of the products that I came in for. They told me to call on Wednesday because that's when they would have their shipment coming and they still didn't have some of the products I was requesting. And they kept me on hold for over 10 minutes. read more

This is my first stop for quick shopping. In the last 3 months I have purchased 8 dresses from here because they are cute and very affordable, especially after any discounts. I go every 2 weeks to check out the new dresses and look thru the clearance racks for items. They also have a Sephora inside. I wish they had register on the south end of store, but besides that its cool. read more

I shop here frequently for men's wear and there are always great deals. Great selection and quality clothes. If you are in a budget JCP is a good place to start. When I was in high school this was my go to place to buy clothes. I thought they were cute and very reasonably priced. I then went several years without coming here, if anything we would order through the catalog. They do have some good coupons and I have rediscovered my love for their jeans but I don't shop here regularly. In fact, I have been coming here lately to visit their salon since they always carry the latest OPI nail polish collections. read more

The store is well stocked and displays are attractive but try to find somewhere to give them your money and you must look for a while. I waited at the register for 25 minutes behind someone opening a credit account and then had to travel to a registry halfway across the store to finally purchase my items. It is understaffed and although employees were friendly their appearances were sloppy, not professional and seemed more like Walmart cashiers than retail clerks. Took my son's senior portraits and used my Groupon. The attendant was very nice and very professional. She took good pictures and several poses. With my Groupon I could choose 3 poses and I got a 10x13 print. I'm very satisfied. read more

One of my favorite stores has to be JC Penny. Love the selection and the service is average, but yesterday I had amazing service by CJ. Amazing lady and clearly the younger one working with her (not in front) was very rude to not only customers but to her as well, she was to busy to even notice. I have been coming to this location for years now. Especially, with Sephora in there I frequent this store about 2-3 a month. Today, I thought while my daughter was in Sephora I would get my watch repaired. The Jewelry Department had 1 lady attending to the customers. It was another lady ahead of me. As she was ringing that lady up, I asked if she could replace the battery. She looked at me as if i asked her to lick the floor. Reluctantly she told me, "Yes, it will be $10", I said yes. She came to me a couple of minutes later and said she needed to tend to that customer to come back in 20 minutes, as if I wasn't a customer. She was unprofessional, rude and shrugged her shoulders to indicate, "Oh well!" DO NOT SHOP AT THIS JEWELRY STORE, THEY ARE NOT DESERVING OF YOUR MONEY. SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY EMPLOY HER AND CONDONE HER TREATMENT TO THE CUSTOMERS!! read more

Got some horrible news about my engagement ring (it can't be refirnished and fixed) and was extremely upset and teary eyed going in. Was greated by a friendly representative (Ron) and was asked how I was doing? I responded with very upset. He carried on a conversation with us and talked to us about how special my ring was to me and talked us into keeping it. Let's just say I walked out with a smile on my face and my original engagement ring and was a happy camper. Could not have ever expected excellent guest service. I'm lucky that since I was born white and middle class to baby boomer parents my mother did nothing but shop at department stores all the time. Every Christmas I was handed the JC Penney catalog and my mother would have me compose a list of stuff I wanted out of it. It was easy, and it branded the name JC Penney in my head forever. Now a days I come here to buy my jeans. The JC Penney brand of jeans, Arizona, are the only ones that seem to fit me decently. I'm 6 feet tall and I weigh a measly 135 pounds (naturally, no eating disorder or drug addiction, I swear!) so it's hard to find jeans that are long enough with a waist small enough. My general rule is 30-32, but most jeans are hit-or-miss here. Some aren't long enough, some seem to have an extra inch or two in the waist, but JC Penney Arizona brand jeans are always perfect. I know that if I grab a pair of Arizona Boot Cut 30-32 in any style they will fit me. Additionally they feature two belt loops in the very back, something I hope they never change, because I do have to tighten my pants still and with only a single loop in the back my belt will eventually pull over my pants and give me an unnecessary amount of that "I just crapped my pants" look. With two loops this isn't a problem, my belt stays put. (In fact, the belt I've been wearing for the last 12 years came from JC Penney, and I have several flannel shirts that I got from here around the same time that only started to fall apart after 10 years.) The best part, though, is that these jeans usually cost only $15 a pair. They only last a year or so of near every-day wear (which is really impressive and gives me away as a person who wears the same jeans every single day) but you can't beat the value. JC Penney is full of deals like this, but the cheap jeans that actually fit my skinny ass are why I come back over and over again. read more

I was also at JCPenney last night and I saw the customer cussing at an employee just because she wouldn't give the people cutting in line a coupon. If you want a coupon you should wait in line like everybody else!! You will experience longer wait times in retail stores from now until Christmas, as customers we all need to be a little more patient and a little less rude!!! read more

If you have plenty of time on your hands then this is your store! We went to buy shoes for work. My daughter found 3 pairs she liked which is good! She's super picky! But we waited 15 minutes for someone to show up to help us. So we left shoe department on a quest for help. That took another 10. Manager finally helped us. He was very nice. We ordered a pair shipped free to store. This was about 2 weeks ago. I checked the order status yesterday and it says 4-7 days more. What!!!! And the line in the front of the store was at least 20 deep. He opened the shoe department register just for us! Phew! But I can order from just about anywhere and get my stuff in a few days. What's up with this 3 week wait? Are they using the pony express? 2 stars for selection and good prices and the nice manager! I'll add to this post of when I get the shoes...never mind, they cancelled the order, never notified me and KEPT my money. Had to open a ticket for refund. Grrr! read more

Came here to purchase some slacks for work and everything was beyond unorganized and dirty. Everything is out of place and it's hard to find anything (especially if you're looking for something specific). I really felt suffocated and frustrated due to the mess. This review is for the Supervisors - Holly - not present... ynez and one other who was working closing the evening of Saturday January 7, 2017... I went in to pick up our one year old's portraits that were taken, already paid for, and ready for pick up... before - driving to this location I checked the hours online which said open till 9pm with no asterisk that the portrait studio held different hours... I showed up at 5:40pm and apparently the portraits studios hours were to 5pm... with that said - that's for taking portraits - picking up was always till the store closed at 9... With all that said the supervisors who had the key to the photo drawer with our pictures (already paid for with our name on it for pick up) but weren't "empowered" to make a judgement call and give them to me because their "might" be extra pictures in the envelope which JC Penny portrait takes and tries to "up-sell or cross- sell" to you when you come to get your already paid for photos... I explained they could have those "extras" and I didn't wasn't them but they refused to give me my already paid for photos! Just to force me to come back another day when the portrait place was open and could try to up-sell me. This is beyond blackmail and manipulation by this store and is negatively affecting people lives and communities as I had spent gas money to drive there and had my wife and 5 kids in the car - spent time fighting with 2 supervisors who weren't smart enough or empowered enough or didn't have enough brains or courage to make a "judgement" call and do what is right in the situation I will not be using this location for shopping or portraits or anything in the future and JC Penny is losing business by trying to force sell things to customers Ynez should be ashamed of herself... They need to fix this now and in the future read more

I am giving 2 stars because the cashiers are awesome and super sweet and helpful and the prices are awesome. Majority of the staff is wonderful there just isn't enough staff. Apparently that's the managers decision and the staff has said to comment on surveys this year bit in my experience there are even fewer employees now. I used to love shopping here. Tons of cute stuff for very good prices. And JCP has the best sales. For the price I didn't mind having to deal with disorganized merchandise and don't need the store to look or feel like Nordstrom. I also didn't mind waiting a little bit in line. It's a trade off and to save a small fortune I was ok with those negatives. However it is a MESS now and takes FOREVER for assistance or to pay. Absolute chaos. And the only employees are in the check out areas so there is no one to help in the departments (explains why each department is now a complete mess! No one is there organizing the merchandise). Yesterday I wait for 30 minutes trying to get help in the shoe department. I had to go across the store to check out in the men's dept where the cashier said she could try to send her manager over. I waited 10 more mins and no one came so I left. The majority of the JCP customer base are families and older adults. Older adults need assistance often with sizing and dressing room help and they have the disposable income to spend on a ton of items and when they shop some where they tend to be very loyal customers. Well JCP is going to lose these folks soon! And those of us with kids, well I need to get in and out of a store. I don't have time with a little antsy toddler to wait around in a store. We don't have the disposable income with young kids to shop a lot of items and once but we tend to go places often and buy what we need so we come back to places that work well for our budgets and our time. Well JCP is going to lose us as cuatomers, too. The look, feel and style of the stores are not going to attract other shoppers so either better understand your customer base and cater to us or don't and lose your company. I won't buy online at JCP. Why? Because Amazon is MUCH faster, the same price or cheaper, and it comes to my house for free or very low cost. Shipping on JCP online takes weeks, and shipping is expensive.i f I do ship to store then the wait in that line is 20 mins at least. It's a hassle to go pick up the items and 50 percent of the time the item needs to be returned/exchanged for sizing or quality reasons. I have more reliability with Amazon or other online retailers. So for in lerson shopping I have chosen to go to JCP often but no more or at least this location. Perhaps the mall locations are better but I am rarely at a mall anymore. My prediction is this JCP will be closed in 1-2 years. If the manager there cares at all, I hope they read the yelp reviews and make some different decisions to increase staffing here (corporate for large companies like this tend not to read yelp, they rely more on surveys). If it wasn't for the sweet cashiers and good sales/coupons I would give zero stars. I used to shop here about 20 times a year but I am finally done. It's a better use of my time to go a further distance to a different store or to shop online with other retailers. read more

I was also in line this morning and saw Lauren not give coupons to some people who were cutting in line. We were all in line for the same reason Black Friday Sales. We all waited in the cold and to have someone try to come from behind is more than rude. If the previous complaint is from the lady who was cussing at the employees it makes sense why she felt she was entitled to coupons when she was cutting in line. Great character!!! Obviously all the complaints are from people who have never worked retail. This job is not given the credit it deserves. We all like to shop for sales there is not reason to be rude!! This is a very thankless job. People come in and make a mess and expect everything to be perfect. I appreciate all the hard work that is put in by the employees!!! By the way store level has no control over employee hours. Talk to anyone at any retail store. Why do you think we all wait in line at Dollar Tree with only one cashier. I have shopped at the JC Penneys in Whittwood for many years. That came to an end as of today. I made a large Christmas purchase a few weeks ago and brought my bags home and stuck them away. About a week later I took the bag out to wrap the presents and discovered a sweater I had purchased didn't make it in the bag. I checked my receipt and I was charged for it. I called right away, gave all my info and they said they would look into it and call me back. No one ever called! I called again, all my info was taken again and told I would get a call back. Again no one called. So today I went into the store, explained everything for a 3rd time and was told to wait. A very rude supervisor came over and said "we have reviewed the tape and you got your sweater" she then turned her back on me. I told her excuse me but you're wrong I did not get the sweater and I would like to see the tape. I was told they could not show me the tape. Another guy came over who was a Manager and said "we reviewed the tape and the sweater was in the bag" he further said "You cant go in the back to see the tape" I told him he was wrong and basically calling me a liar! I do not have the sweater it was never put in my bag! he was rude and made me feel like I had done something wrong. I will be following up with this matter as this was a $30 sweater and someone has benefited from my purchase... but not me!! I will no longer shop there, I wont ever spend another dime there and I will make sure all my friends and family do the same. They do not even deserve 1 star but this site forces you to choose one! HORRIBLE customer service and the rudest people in management I have ever met!! Amazed they are even in the positions they have!! DONT SHOP AT WHITTIER JC PENNEYS!!!! Do not let Rosie in the styling salon touch your hair!!! She messed up my curly hair so bad on the day of my sons graduation in June. She cut the layers so short I am barely able to put it up in a clip/ponytail. I left there with wet hair and didn't realize just how bad it was until it dried. The wait to pay at the register to this JC Penney is longer then the rest! In 1 day I have had to come back twice. Both times I've had to wait 30min+ in my first visit I've even asked to speak to the manager because of the mess and the wait. His response didn't reflect a manager. He said that's all the staff he had, which clearly they don't vision the need. He was rude and seemed bothered by my suggestion. Stating that register 90 and 92 is not the answer when clearly he was lying. A true manager with skills to deal with customers goes out of his way to open lines not challenge the observation. The manager by the name Alvaro needs retraining in customer service. Having 3 areas in the whole store to pay is crazy especially in this time of year. Due to the need I had to come back the same evening but I've realized the whole hour combined I could of been shopping instead of waiting to pay in line. Once I get what I need I promise I won't be shopping here anytime soon. read more

What a joke at the store... Buy one get one free is not for the brand Levi so we shopped around and the "denim Sale" was for Arizona jeans only (which fits different than LEVI JEANS) so after trying on multiple pair we double checked the posted signs on the shelf and went to the cash register so for what was advertised we could get 2pair of ARIZONA JEANS for 40.00 dollars equaled to 20.00 a pair!!!! Much to our surprise the cashier said it was going to be 57.00 and I said NO ITS A BOGO he said ma'am someone put these in the wrong location... As I argued that there was a whole stack of different sizes in the BOGO shelf next to even more colors he made no effort correcting the problem nor researching the cost of the jeans so we walked away with no pants and very frustrated!!! Trust me if my husband was not there all hell would of broken loose but we agreed to never go back to JCPENNYS!!!!! It's no wonder there stores are slowly closing GOOD BYE I SAY read more

The JC Penney salon is just awful. I went to go get my eyebrows waxed and I waited there for 45 minutes. The person who finally did it was quite rude. After waiting there for 45 minutes I got treated like trash. Save yourself the grief and go somewhere else. read more

My boyfriend and I had to get a ring re-sized from this store. As two weeks past by, he finally received a call that my ring was ready. However as he picked up the ring and brought it to me, the ring was never re-sized at all. I am completely upset because now we have to make yet another trip to this store hoping that they actually re-size it. When I tried calling in to speak to a supervisor, a girl kept me on hold for over twenty minutes where I decided to just hang up since yet again they could not help me. Now I am stuck having to waste my time yet again to drive back to this location so they can hopefully re-size my ring like they originally should of. read more
