Went thru the drive-thru just before closing on Tuesday Night & grabbed the Special of Buy 1 get 1 Free Pork Sandwiches. I Also grabbed FF, slaw & the beans. It was excellent prices & very Good BBQ. I was surprised at how great the fries were..... battered w/ Ranch for dipping. It was like having Mushrooms. LOL I could only eat abt 2/3 of 1 sandwich but.... it was because I was enjoying the sides so much. I have tons of left overs for the next day. Stopped by just to try and when I ordered they were out of buns for the sandwich. Was told I would get the same amount of meat but got less. Ribs were dry and didn't look fresh. Had to ask for the drink I got with my meal because the lady forgot. Not good bbq. read more

I use to eat at Al's Bar-B-Que years ago, when I lived on the north side of Fort Smith, AR. They use to be located in a small portable building located in front of their present location, if I remember correctly. It's been like almost 30 years ago. I do remember they had better than average bar-b-que because I went there quite often. My present wife is not as big a fan of this charcoal goodness, but I manage to find a way anyhow (Art's Bar-B-Que is less than a mile from my house, and a better place to eat). Just got done with a Jumbo BBQ sammich. *omnomnom* I am not sure how long this place has been here, but I think its been a while. But every time I've gone past this place, well I've always gone past. The the building looks a bit crummy but who cares; its a drive through :) Everything off their menu is pretty cheap and there are also daily specials. Like on Monday there's a a family special, on Tuesdays buy one sandwich and get another free, and Thursdays free chips(I think their chips aren't actually chips but the chunks of red potatoes seasoned and deep fried for yummy crispiness) My first visit I got a Lunch Special. It came with the BBQ Sandwich and a bag of the fried red potato chunks with a side of ranch dressing. Both were really good. The meat was smokey, very tender and had the right amount of fat that doesn't make you want to kill yourself after eating it, then topped with their sweet BBQ sauce. The potato chunks: Were seasoned and deep fried it was still so yummy. I shared some potatoes with my mother. She loved them too :) The total for each of my visits were close to $6 sometimes under. Their drive thru is pretty empty most of the time sadly. Maybe people just don't know about the place or are too scared to try it. But I urge everyone to try it out. Its pretty good. Small, quaint drive thru. Really good food and service and if you're just driving by to one of the stores in the shopping center, the wonderful aroma of bbq will make you pull up to order :) I normally get their "everyday special" which is a regular bbq sandwich, hickory potatoes with a side of ranch and drink which is $7.12 including tax. I have never been disappointed and enjoy coming on Tuesday for the buy one get one free sandwich deal. read more

Note: this place has super good prices. This review doesn't take that much into consideration. This is a small shack with drive up and walk up windows. Smoke house in the back spouts amazing smelling smoke and from the walk up window the smell is awesome. Downhill from here.. Their menu is quite limited. Pork, beef, ribs, coleslaw, beans, hickory fries, rolls, soft drinks, and not much else. All come in either plate or sandwich form. I had the combo plate with beef instead of pork. The ribs were decent and the beef was disappointing. Sides were fine, beans a bit too sweet and the fries were okay, like joe-joes sort of. Seems like they only have one sauce, it's okay but nothing to rave about. I really wish they'd had a hot or spicy sauce. Maybe they do but it wasn't offered. Seating is outside and there is no shade. To their credit, the prices are super cheap. Overall, I am not impressed and I won't be returning. read more

Woo wee! that must be the best barbecue in the whole state. that stuff so good it makes my tongue slap my brains out just trying to get to another bite!. Al's Barbecue is some of the best! I'll put it up against any in Memphis Tennessee, that stuff is good, he's got the right recipe on that barbecue sauce. sweet with just a little kick to it, it is good. Lord have mercy on me! Honestly, the best experience I've ever had at a drive-thru only restaurant! We got the pulled pork sandwiches and the potatoes. Good, smokey BBQ for the price with fast, excellent service! The ladies were on break when we pulled up, but quickly came inside to take our order. We had our dog in the backseat and the lady taking our order asked if she could give her a pork bone! We talking about her dogs and Whiskey, our pup, is now chewing away happily on the bone she gave us! We will definitely be back, for the good food, friendly staff, and quick service!! read more

Every time I come to fort smith, I HAVE to be a pig and get a large order of potatoes! Everything is homemade here and it shows! They're so tiny, but they're so nice and the food is worth way more than what they're charging. They only have a few seats outside if you're looking to eat picnic style, but I usually just grab and go. Usual drink choices, amazing pulled pork. Still, the real star is their potato recipe, I don't know what they batter them with but it is the bomb. read more

When the lady finished at the drive-thru window and came over to the walk-up window, she looked past me and asked the other guy what he needed. He was rude enough to just proceed on with his order. The company I work for has had Al's cater several of our meetings. Their potatoes are AMAZING and the bbq is pretty good, too! I asked where the restaurant was located and never could find it. But then I moved half a mile down the road from it! Woohoo!!! The people are super friendly, service is fast, prices are very reasonable. Must try this! read more
