Not too bad! My friend and I were looking for a place to stop as we were driving back from Yosemite and this diner seemed like the best place to do so. I like that they offer both American and Mexican food -- a clever business appeal for folks who are indecisive about what they would like to eat! I ordered a simple chicken quesadilla. Our server was a nice lady who also brought us chips and salsa. It was a slow night for them, as we were the only ones there. Food came out quick too! It was very filling and the portions are generous. Two quesadillas accompanied by large sides of beans and rice! I had to take the rest home as I could only eat about 1/3 of it. That being said, the overall vibe reminds me of a Denny's, but I enjoyed the atmosphere. I love coming to this place and I love their breakfast plates; however, I must say that this is the fifth time I've came back here with receipt error. I just want to share that they've charged me extra plate for every time we've came and ate here, so I would suggest that you look over your receipt before paying. I know we have a habit of just giving out our payment as soon as we get the receipt but for some reason, I checked the receipt for the first time and saw a plate charged that we've never ordered. For 5 consecutive times we went, each time had an extra charge. We've discussed it with the owner and she apologized and said that they're just really busy...but 5 consecutive times? You be the judge. Also, they're breaking the CDC guidelines. Today, my family observed that they're not sanitizing the menus as well as the tables. I was at this restaurant yesterday afternoon. I waited on promptly. Ordered the steak off of the senior menu. One of my sides was baked potato. When my meal arrived I had mashed potato's with gravy. I told the waitress I had ordered a baked potato and she told me they were out of them would this work. I said yes since it was sitting in front of me and I shouldn't have since I am not suppose to eat this type of food. I feel I should have been told they were out of baked potato's and to choose another side or maybe even a different meal. Good location! Right on the Main Street through town. The building is older and doesn't look like much from the outside. The inside has your usual locally owned diner feel. I have a family member that swears this is the best place in town so I had to see for myself. The first thing that jumped out at me was the size of their menu. They have a lot of items in a few different persuasions. They do claim to be a American and Mexican restaurant though so I guess that makes sense. The waitress was very prompt to seat me and take my order. She was not very personable though. Not rude by any means, just nothing special about her. Her name was Rosie. I ordered Huevos Racheros. I mean what other dish would be more "American Mexican" right? It came quick, was hot, and looked good. It tasted pretty good too! It came with two tortillas and rice and beans. Portion size is good but I think one more tortilla would be good idea. The waitress remained fairly inattentive and spent most of the time speaking with another employee. Overall the food was good. I would come back for that. Rating the total experience though I had to give 3 stars due to the lack of actual service. They have definite room for improvement there. read more

Went here a while ago in need of food and it was late, but we didn't want fast food....we should have just gotten fast food. It was in the top 5 worst meals I have ever had. Disorganized and cost of food was disproportional to what you get. I called in my order, bean and cheese burrito and a patty melt. It cost about $21.00. Wow. Talk about rip off. When I arrived my order wasn't ready. I sat by the chairs near the entrance for about 10 or 15 mins. The entire time the female server kept talking to the cook in the back asking for a chicken fried steak. She must have asked him 10 times. Then she had to tell the cook how to make a bean and cheese burrito. Ugh. Disorganized and just plain unprofessional. Then at the counter the bus boy was having a meal while also busing a table. Was he working or on a break? Either way, the whole set up of those place seems questionable. The food wasn't good and it was pricey for what it was. My fries were stale and sparse. Went 8:30AM for breakfast Mothers Day. Not full but pretty busy. Over 30 minutes to get our food. No explaination or apology. Chili verde omelete had small bone in and very tough pork, but good flavor. Huevos Divorcial had little flavor. Would not order either again. Coffee very weak, Farmer Bros. ? Hope they improve. Ever since we moved to the valley from the bay area we've longed fr something like our favorite restaurant in Fremont (Baldies Cafe) where it feels like home, the food is great as are the prices and you cant wait til the next time! Well, we found it! JCs is warm, welcoming and has that old time Cafe feel! All the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful and you get huge portions at a great price! I love this place! To make it even better it a combination of traditional "Americana" fare, like chicken fried steak, burgers and so much more PLUS a traditional Mexican fare, with many delicious choices!!! We stopped here for a meal years ago on the way to Yosemite. Over the Memorial Day weekend we stopped here on the way home from Yosemite and the place has a new name. Anyways we stopped for a very late lunch and five tables were occupied. Since I was on a chile relleno addiction I decided to get the chile relleno. It came on a big plate, which didn't particularly look appetizing. But it was good and I finished the whole thing. The hubs ordered the huevos rancheros, which looked a lot like my chile relleno, but he swore it was very good too. Someday, on another trip to Yosemite I hope that this restaurant is still standing so that I can eat here again. read more

Next the omelet ordered was so overlooked it went back, it obviously wasn't a priority to get it back out because the rest of the table was mostly finished before the second omelet came out. Went here on a Sunday afternoon in the mood to try something new. First thing i noticed was the pies right by the door, they are costco pies with the labels poorly ripped off. Service was friendly. Greeted kindly and taken right back to a table. Had drinks within minutes. Environment is cleanish. A little bit of new with a little bit of old. Chairs are comfy. Food was ok, i was with a party of 5. We tried both American and Mexican plates. Everyone was content with the food with the group leaning towards the mexican food. The french fries are horrible quality, left in the fryer too long. The kids wouldnt touch the fries. Bacon cheeseburger became a normal cheeseburger due to gross fat strips being used as bacon. Biggest complaint: flies like crazy. My whole meal was a fly swatting competition. To the point were I didnt finish my plate due to irratation. Overall cost: about average. 3 adults 2 kids 45 bucks before tip. 2.29 sodas come on, id pay that in disneyland. Glad I tried it, you should to. But I dont think we will be coming back. read more

Not necessarily Mexican food. They use crunchy tortillas for their "tacos." The rice and brands are decent and their prices are reasonable. Pizzas are pre frozen. Great service, but NOT authentic Mexican food at all. read more

I actually went there yesterday for Christmas breakfast. I have never been there before and it was the only place open in Oakdale so we decided to try it. The service was good until our food came and a cockroach with it as well coming across the table on my food. Of course I panicked and the waitress came to see what was wrong. I killed it underneath the creamer , she came by cleaned it and said, Sorry! They could of made it right by redoing our food or taking care of it!!! We still paid!!! Needless to say I will never be back there again because of it and best believe I'm telling everybody I know not to go there because of that!!!! read more
