Very nice ladies who took my order. I bought quesa birria tacos. Came with 3 & consommé for a little over $14. Lady gave me jalapeños chips and salsa . Tacos were delicious. We stopped here on our way to Groveland. We ordered 2 steak burritos for $9.25 each. They were delicious! We couldn't finish them. The next day we chopped up the leftovers and fried them up like a Mexican hash and topped it with fried eggs. So yummy! Great little local place with reasonably priced good food. SERVICE: 10/10 I thought the service was fantastic. Everyone was super nice and friendly, there were unlimited tortilla chips for your enjoyment. I really felt like I wanted to come back here. FOOD: 9/10 Super Burrito - 9/10 - This burrito is one of their staple menu items and it is quite substantial for the price. From out of town and here for the weekend and was looking for a good Mexican taqueria for a burrito. This place had a very nice staff and explanation of extra costs for added items! Great size of burritos for money but the only thing was that I wish the meat had more flavor.. the mild salsa is very mild do maybe go for the hot. The fresh salsa bar was my fave, but they don't have it anymore. 16.00 for a fajita that has maybe 2 oz of meat total cut into tiny chunks just isn't worth it. They used to have a FREE COMPLIMENTARY salsa bar with bomb sauces, red sauce, green sauce, pico de gallo, cabbage salad, guac salsa. They no longer have it. & COVID isnt an excuse because first of All the other taquerias in town got them back & second of all if you ask for any of those that used to FREE & COMPLIMENTARY they charge extra. They charge extra for pico. The girl that took our order said it with a petty attitude too like "yuppp :)))) we charge extra for that" When they borough out the tacos the plate didnt even have limes or jalapeños on them. & when I asked for them the girl seemed annoyed. Even at taco trucks lime & jalapeños are automatic with tacos you dont even have to ask for them. They give you chips and red sauce but the sauce isnt even served in a plastic dish like other taquerias. They serve it in the little to go sauce containers and ONLY HALFWAY filled. The day we went in was middle of June on a 100 degree day and they didnt even have the AC on. The reason I would come here was for guac sauce from the complimentary sauce bar. This review ain't even to bash them but its a straight and forward message for the owners. Yall tryna skimp on sauces, limes, & jalapeños with tacos to save some money is going to end up loosing you money when you start loosing loyal customer who aren't gunna come back. Im sorry but I will never come back especially with so many other options in town we got 4 taco trucks, & 5 taquerias. From javis to Michoacána to riverbank taqueria to jaro Viejo to Suzy Belen's, they have either a free salsa bar or their chips and salsa come in generous dishes not little to go Cups half way filled. All the taquerias give you lime and jalapeños with tacos without having to ask even the taco trucks Serving everything so skimpy literally ruined my meal & I've been coming here for years specifically for the pastor tacos with the Guac sauce which they no longer have unless you pay extra. & sadly I will never come back. Like I said this ain't even about a review for others this is a straight up message from me to the owners. Skimping on meals to save dimes & nickels is going to cost you more in the long run cus I forsure ain't coming back and I guarantee you im not the only person who will remember el agave as that one taco truck that dont serve limes or jalapeños with tacos and charges extra for sauce with your chips. Love this spot! This has to be one of the original Mexican food spots in Oakdale as they've been around for 15+ years as far as i'm aware. I highly recommend the Shrimp burrito a la diabla (sauce), Carne Asada quesadilla and grilled chicken burrito! You can also never go wrong with some Tacos. read more

Hubby got a wet burrito which is $5.50. If I'd known about the change I would have gotten a wet burrito too. Why is the wet burrito which is bigger cheaper than 2 tacos w/ beans & rice? That's F-up. They ran out of horchata so didn't get any this trip. Salsa bar is pretty good - I like the guacamole looking one & the fresh salsa one. Stopped at Taqueria El Agave on the way back to the Bay from Yosemite and we were not disappointed! It was a quick easy stop off the highway and the food was prepared quickly. In these times of quarantine you would think people working at a restaurant would be extra nice since there are people still supporting your business.. not here in this case this girl was rude from the beginning. We ordered over the phone 2 burrito and chips. She only had 1 after saying I only heard one in a rude tone no big deal ordered it and brought it up to us.. asked if we can get salsa since we had chips and 2 burritos you would think she'd ask if we needed salsa After all this my husband says you can keep the change which was a few dollars... she couldn't say thank you just threw the money in the jar wow!! read more

This is a decent taqueria to stop by on the way to Yosemite. It's also conveniently located next to Raley's so you can pick up last minute groceries for your trip. I've only been here once and tried their carne asada super burrito. It was a decent burrito, it wasn't terrible but it also didn't light my world on fire. What i enjoyed most about this restaurant were the affordable prices, relatively big portions, and great customer service. They also have a salsa bar and you get chips with your order. I'm adding an additional star because the lady who worked there commented on how cute my dress was, even though I was a sweaty hot mess from the trip. Cheers to making a girl feel pretty! read more

Not bad. This place gets busy!!! Not just passerbyers going from Yosemite. I got a carne asada burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. They use white cheese. The carne asada didn't have cheese. You get free chips and salsa. I saw a lot of people ordering burritos and the nachos. I got the regular burrito and it was plenty big for me. The carne meat is good and seasoned well. I would come back here and try the different items from the menu. read more

Have gone here a few times when driving through Oakdale. Great for quick and easy Mexican food. Not a giant restaurant but good size when you looking for a quick meal. Food is great and never takes to long to get food out. Since you stand in line to order and there is no waiters sometimes it can get packed with a long line. Everything that I have tried and is pictured has been very good and o don't have any complaints. Nice large portions on what ever you order. They do serve beers and other beverages if you want a cereza to go with your meal. Worth checking out! read more

This taqueria was a welcome sight on the way back from Yosemite. We were starving when we pulled into the parking lot of what looked like a pretty deserted strip mall around 7pm. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the line was long and the clientele seemed to be enjoying their food, so I was reassured. They also had a picture menu, which is always a plus. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, a side of rice, a super burrito, and a coke, the last two being for my friend. NO, I do not eat THAT much. Both the quesadilla and burrito were $5.75, which was a really good price. There were other combo meals that came with rice, beans, and a "salad" of lettuce and sliced tomato for around $7 or $8. Altogether, our two meals with tax came out to something around $17. I was pretty pleased with my quesadilla. It was very large, and stuffed with shredded chicken, cheese, and salsa. Unfortunately the salsa was a bit too wet for my liking. Nor did the quesadilla come with sour cream or guacamole. I didn't finish it because I got tire of all the wet salsa, which wasn't that tasty. It's a good thing I got the side of rice, which was quite delicious. It was the typical Spanish rice made with chicken broth and tomato. It was just greasy enough for my liking! My friend seemed to enjoy his burrito with al pastor as well. Half way through, he deconstructed it to discard the flour tortilla and get at the filling of rice, beans, salsa and meat. All in all, a good meal. Prices are good and the food is filling. i will definitely keep this place in mind for the next time I head to or from Yosemite. read more

Decent food at decent prices. Very typical taqueria. They have the cabbage salsa mix which I love! I usually get the taco salad-it's never the same size which is whatever. It's still decent and it works in a pinch when hungry and looking for quick food that's not fast food. They have breakfast which is cool but once when I went in to get breakfast, I asked about breakfast burritos, since I saw the breakfast options on their board but no burrito option, they told me they make burritos so I was like sweet! But then when I ordered 2 of the platter options made into burritos they kind of had an attitude about it, which I thought was kind of weird- I mean you have breakfast, you told me you make burritos so why give me an attitude about my order? Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's a big place, clean and efficient. I had the big wet (green sauce as recommended by the cashier) burrito with carne asada. They also offer free chips, which were very good. The salsa bar was kept clean and iced. One major plus on the salsa bar is that they actually stock guacamole!
