Okay so I have to go middle of the road here. Here's why: When my husband and I eat here, we've always had a good experience. However, we've only dined in once. We always had it delivered to our house otherwise. My usual is a couple orders of wings, coleslaw, and deviled eggs. His is chicken tenders and a slew of sides. I've also had the fish tacos which were great! They do a great job for gluten free folks like myself and I am SO grateful for that. Last time I came here I brought family from across the bridge. They were visiting us and we decided to eat somewhere versus fussing at the house. No one was impressed including me. The chicken Chesapeake was terrible. The chicken was so rubbery, I ended up only eating the crab dip and calling it a day. Glad we ordered a ton of sides and wings because it was disappointing. For the price, my family was not thrilled with the quality especially given some of our other frequented actual seafood spots. I'm sure I'll order out some time again but probably just sticking to what small order I normally get. read more

07.26.24 Been driving past this place since it opened MANY years ago so tonight my wife and I were going to may parents in Fenwick stopped in for a bite to eat. The place was pretty busy the hostess asked how many said 2 she said well I have to find you a table. I looked at the bar and saw there were seats open so I said we would sit at the bar. As we sat one of the bartenders was putting down menus and asking what we wanted to drink. Wife ordered an ice tea and I had the Strawberry lemonade drink, it was ok tasted like liquor then I noticed it want mixed up. See pictures. First I need to say I can't believe that a business owner would let their employees drink alcohol while working. There was a guy making drinks complaining because someone didn't take dishes in the back so he had to do it, he wasn't doing really nothing else making drinks and then sitting at the bar drinking beer. Then he got up made a bunch of drinks then I watched he made at least six shots him and some other servers took them to the other end of the bar and they drank them with some other people. Now the owner is out 6 shots how many times a night is this done? For dinner my wife had a salad and cup of cream of crab soup she said the soup was good just needed more seasoning so else asked for more old bay. I had the fish and chips, I wouldn't get this again the fish was mushy. I thought I took a picture I guess the servers drinking bothered me and I forgot the fries were semi warm. There was also a band there I guess they were local becuase I had never heard of them or any of the music they sang. If the guy beating on some box or the back of a guitar would stop the music would have sounded better. But the locals enjoyed it so I guess that's what matters. Visited on a weekday, little before noon. Pulled in to a mostly empty lot, guest and i were seated right away. We both ordered iced teas, and each ordered burgers. Restaurant was clean, waitress was attentive and polite. Food came out very quickly-I'm guessing burgers were par-baked, maybe I'm wrong. Food was decent, service was good-prices were reasonable. Returning home from the beach we wanted to extend our vacation a little longer. But not 2 hours longer, due to not enough electronic order pads for wait staff, nonworking bar guns for carbonated drinks (resulting in flat soda and mixes) and extremely slow kitchen turnover. We ordered 24 oysters on the half shell and to our surprise not one oyster was shucked. Quality control was lacking when we were served a black smelly oyster that should have been caught prior to plating. The other 23 tasted really good after we shucked them. The steamed mussels are a must. I suggest ordering extra garlic toasted bread for dipping when you order the mussels. Only two bread come per order. Extra bread is $2 each and takes 20 minutes to come to the table. While you are waiting for the extra bread 3 staff will try to come and take the oyster sauce away to clear the the table. (Funny, they didn't come by to take our order or check our drinks. We had to try and get staff's attention multiple times for service.) If you have seafood allergies, this restraunt is not for you. They have many non seafood options. But the risk of cross contamination is extremely high. All fried foods are fried in the same fryer. (No fries or kettle chips for those with allergies. You're good if you like brocolli.) Luckily our server brought this to our attention, but not until after our orders were entered. The order system is not flexable. Our unlucky guest did not get his over cooked mahi wrap until long after the rest of our party had finished their meals. Our wait staff were very friendly and worked very hard. But in general staff at Shuckersseemed to be not well trained or managed for the service industry. Shuckers has the potential for greatness with some repairs, training and management support. I really enjoy giving high ratings and could not do it with this restraunt. My reason for the 2 star rating is the safety issue for those with seafood allergies. UPDATE: Management reached out and they were greatful for the input. They will be looking into issues to address the concerns highlighted in the Yelp review. read more

Ok it was a disaster tonight dinners was a pick up. We didn't feel like eating dinner in the restaurant. We both had burger 101, I told the young lady medium cooked. We got over cooked dry no condiments with cheese so welled done it was translucent, it came with chips overcooked hard and unflavored. My salad had no dressing. They could have put some on the side I think. (Oh, well) I guest they were too busy. There was a party going on inside. Great neighborhood bar and best place for NFL Sunday ticket. Robby and Ryan run the entire bar on Sundays and do an amazing job working the entire room. These men are superstars! The tailgate menu is BACK on Sundays in the bar area as well as the Bloody Mary bar. The "Tailgate Nachos" are a must, they are so good, you will be fighting over the last chip good. Decided to get a carry-out order for supper tonight while visiting for work. The Maryland style carb soup was nice and hot. The Crab cake sandwich was very delicious and not full of filler. Enjoyed the roll and the fresh lettuce and tomato were nice. Only complaint is that the sandwich would have been perfect if there was some type of sauce (cocktail or remoulade). The side of chips were nice and appear homemade. I also got a side of Cole slaw, which was fairly disappointing. Not much flavor and quite small portion for the price. We ordered an appetizer and specified we wanted it served as an appetizer, along with a couple of burgers with fries and tater tots. After quite a wait (which was expected as it is a Saturday night) we were served everything at the same time. As there was no need at this point for an appetizer we reminded the wait person that we had made a specific request and were now no longer interested in the item. The wait person removed the food and later came back to explain that it was the food servers fault, that when the eatery is busy they may just serve however they feel works out for them. I guess someone in management should explain what the word appetizer means along with the customary practice of serving it before the entree. The burgers were ordinary and tasted as if they were made from frozen patties. Ordered them medium and we got overcooked. Fries were close to cold but the tater tots were excellent. read more

The food was good. Although our appetizer did not come out hot as it should be. We ordered fried clams. They were not even room temperature. Customer service was better second time here than my initial visit. While we waited for our appetizer, our waitress came out to update us on our order. The time she came out to us before we were delivered our appetizer, she said our fried clams would be out soon. They did come out soon afterwards, but we were surprised they weren't even warm. If they were cooked shortly before this then they would have been hot. So apparently they've been ready or else they wouldn't have been at room temperature! That's why I think the waitress lied and why I rate customer service par. There wasn't even a lot of people in the restaurant. It's not like it was crazy busy. The only reason I gave this T.D. We stopped here and were hugely disappointed. This was easily the worst meal we have had in a long time. The fish was cooked frozen, no taste, and chewy. The fries were cold and burnt. The cole slaw had no taste to it. We ate very little of it. The waitress called the manager over, who tried to argue with us that the food was prepared properly, gave us no discounts, no coupons, no offers of a substitute, no apology, and charged us full price. Verrry overcooked soggy/greasy fries. **CHANGE THE OIL IN YOUR FRYERS** Fish taco had little fish and crumbled to pieces. Coconut Shrimp batter was dark from being cooked in burnt grease but was barely done in the inside. I didn't even eat them...waste of money. At 3am I was awakened to painful stomach cramps. Well, you're Georgetown location is at least consistent. We'll not be back. Our last time here was horrible, but it had been a moth or so, so we decided to give it another shot. We arrived a little before 7pm. Our waitress who seemed very agitated about our request to sit outside, took our drink order and then never returned. After about 30 min my wife went inside to get a water and saw my cocktail on the bar. After asking if it was for our table the bar keep came outside with my drink and took our order. At 8:10 pm we called enough, enough. We were still waiting on our appetizer (steamed mussels) and had yet to be checked on again for drink refills. (or in my case a second cocktail). We cashed out and left, its sad as you used to be one of our favorite mid week happy hours. read more

Shuckers was a pleasant surprise. After reading my fellow Yelper's reviews, I was very skeptical about coming here but relented when my parents insisted this was a solid 'go-to'. The interior was attractive and festive. I walked around to survey the tables and saw a lot of good looking food spread around. We ordered the crab bites, calamari and French onion soup for appetizers -- all were big hits. The calamari was soft and fresh, the crab bites all lump crab meat and the soup was hot and cheesy. The lump Crabcake was very good, as were the scallops, fish sandwich, fish n chips and everything else we ordered for the main course. Service was excellent but we were sad to hear that this was our waitress's final day. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy. It's rare when I go against my Yelper instincts and come out on top, but hey, sometimes Yelpers get it wrong and other times a broken clock is right twice a day. We started with oysters which were green. we've been eating oysters for years and never saw Green oysters before! we were told it was "just the way they come". We sent them back and didn't eat them. they didn't even take them off the check! I don't know why I keep ordering take-out from here. 90% of the time, orders are missing things. Last time I picked up the order, I stood inside waiting for awhile because it wasn't ready, and one of the hostesses brought me the bill to sign with the TIP line HIGHLIGHTED before she brought out the bag of food, like she was holding it hostage? I always tip, even though I pick it up myself, but that was beyond rude, and she was still holding the highlighter. Tonight, I ordered an open face turkey sandwich on Texas toast with mashed potatoes and green beans. I got a piece of plain white toast that had mashed potatoes smashed on the top, I didn't even see them at first, no vegetable. The potatoes tasted like chewing on a bulb of garlic, the turkey was thin lunchmeat. We only got 1 out of 2 desserts ordered, PB pie, 1bite, spit it out because it tasted old and gummy and was hot. Threw everything away. Overall, their mixed drinks aren't very good, but they do have good wings. The one in Peddler's village is better and has good bartenders. Driving South on US-113, I was using Google Maps to find this place. I should have trusted the process because the directions had me driving through a couple strip mall parking lots to find the restaurant. I didn't "trust the process" and wound up getting an unnecessary Siri-guided tour of the strip malls, both front and back! We finally came to a standalone building behind one of the malls and I found that it would be better accessed by heading East on DE-18, right off US-113 and turning right into the lot. There is plenty of parking in the lot at J D Shuckers and the building has a fresh, clean look to it, both inside and out. It looked like it could be part of a franchise, and a little research showed me that it is one of two J P Shuckers, the original being in Lewes, DE. We dined there for lunch on a Sunday: several different NFL games were playing on large screen TVs in the bar area. (Hence, the other review about their NFL Sunday Ticket subscription!) The bar is partitioned off from the dining room which down on the sounds coming from the bar and removed the distraction of the games on TV. The menu was very extensive, with a large variety of apps, salads, raw bar options, gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and entrees which favored but was not limited to seafood. They also have weekly specials which complement the regular menu. Most of the food was good, although the "market price" for the crab cake came back at almost $40, which was way beyond the quality of the product, which I would rate as average. One of the weekly specials was "street corn salad. " It disappointed me because it turned out to be a rather small bowl of seasoned corn kernels, served like a salsa, accompanied by a plate of slightly greasy tortilla chips, and a small dish of traditional tomato salsa on the side. I would not order that again. On the positive side, the steamed mussels in garlic sauce were a very generous serving that came at a reasonable price. Pat's signature stewed tomatoes side dish were worthy of a special place on the menu! I'd order them every time! Ron, our server, was attentive and courteous. Overall, I think that they are on to a good thing and I would be very happy to see the J D Shuckers chain expand to more locations in Del-Mar-Va! read more

First time here ! I ordered the cream of crab soup & the steam shrimp app, they were cooked perfectly. The service was really superb. place opens back up full-time it will be full tilt all day !!!
