When we arrived at Rehoboth Beach on Saturday evening, we parked next to Obie's by the Sea but weren't quite sure if it was okay to park there. I went inside to ask, and the guy in the yellow T-shirt standing with the host was incredibly helpful and friendly. Thanks to his kindness, we decided to stay and have dinner at Obie's. Located right on the boardwalk, the atmosphere was superb. We ordered the lump crab cake and loaded crab fries. The crab cake was fantastic -- no fillers, just quality lump meat. And the fries? Perfectly crispy, flavorful, and impressively stayed crispy until the very last bite -- no soggy fries here! Highly recommend! read more

Met some old friends here for lunch on a beautiful sunny day in Rehoboth, DE beach. Started off with the infamous Orange Crush mixed drink, which oddly seems to be local to MD only. Then had some jalapeño poppers which were jammed pack with flavors inside. Lunch was fried oyster tacos. Now I've had fried oyster Po Boys but not tacos. They were delicious. We lingered at our outdoor table for a while enjoying the scenery and the weather. Waitress staff were beautiful and attentive. read more

I took a day trip with my friend and her son. We were hungry when we got there and picked the first place near parking to eat. It's a nice view as we sat outside to eat and there is seating inside also. There was no one to greet us so we asked bartender and he got attention of servers. We ordered food and drinks. My friend ordered a Pina colada and it immediately was melting and basically just sugar. My friend's son enjoyed burger and fries. My friend and I ordered crab cakes/hush puppies. The crab cake had too much remoulade sauce, and was falling part. The hush puppies were overcooked and first time I had with corn. There were seasonings missing and taste was not good. This place has gone down hill. My family and I ordered a lot of food and most of it was over cooked. Clam strips ... overcooked. Steamed shrimp ... overcooked. Wings ... overcooked. The service was good and the atmosphere is always great. But to serve food of this poor quality was disgraceful. We had sent back serval items showing our waitress how the food was overcooked. She immediately was ready remedy the situation by placing new orders ... and the new orders came back much better (and this time eatable). But where is the quality control in their kitchen? And with so many dishes gone wrong, where was the manager to apologize and make things right? Not sure I will be back for a long time. read more

Well, maybe I shouldn't have read the reviews first, or maybe they're right and I just confirmed their opinions. First, the Pain Killer sort of is... We ordered just starters, and we were glad we did. The fried pickles were just okay, insufficiently breaded and a bit overpowering. The deviled eggs were overcooked and under flavored. The crab dip, while a bit too cheesy, was pretty good. The ambience is early grunge, not too clean and a bit too "rustic". There's way way way too many food options around Rehoboth to bother here unless you have an ocean fetish. read more

I popped into Obies over the weekend and surprisingly it wasn't very busy. There was outdoor and indoor seating availability. The service was okay even though they forgot a drink of ours. They quickly recovered. I ordered a bunch of apps and they were served on small trays which seemed more like personal order rather than a shareable app. The taste of everything was okay but the seafood dip only came with a few pieces of bread. Ordering more was an upcharge. The drinks tasted premade of watered down. Not a spot I would visit again! read more

We have been coming to the establishment for many years. We enjoy sitting on the boardwalk and having lunch. On this visit, we had a shrimp salad sandwich with french fries, juicy chicken sandwich with both french fries and a side salad. The food came out quick and it was hot! We had a lovely experience at Obie's! It's wasn't too busy and we were seated outside right away. Our toddler can be tough at restaurants, but did really well here. The food came out quick and was great. The orange crushes are just what you want on the boardwalk. We had the old bay and lemon Parmesan wings (both flavors were fantastic), shrimp cocktail (our toddler's favorite), blackened fish tacos (huge portion, but careful as they are very spicy), and kids chicken tenders (gigantic portion and some of the best hand breaded chicken tenders I've ever had). We were here twice for lunch during our rehobeth weekend. We sat at the bar both times. Bartender was amazing-great service! Incredible juicy drinks that were perfect for the beach but not too sweet or acidic. We had crab fries and shrimp tacos that were solid 5's. Also had the tuna poke that had great flavors, tuna and watermelon were on point. There was a challenge with rock salt under the lettuce leaf but they made it right. Picked this place because of location, right on the water with ocean views, unfortunately for us it rained and we had to sit inside. Greeting was less then nice, like we were bothering her from her phone to seat us, once seated waited 13 minutes to even be acknowledged we were brought 2 waters which was nice while we had our waitress attention we placed our order. We started with the Mac Daddy fries. These were good and a generous portion for $15.00, I had the burger and my daughter had the Pesto Grilled Cheese both were ok, not horrible but not great either. Portions are small prices are high, service is less then with a bunch of teens who prefer to be scrolling on their phones along with the man (who I believe to be the manager) was so invested in the Olympics on tv, he started at the television the entire time while ordering others around. read more

Obie's By The Sea is one of the few bars and restaurants in Rehoboth with outdoor ocean front seating. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer list. Would have liked more IPA's but we found a couple we liked. The peel and eat shrimp were very large and juicy with good old bay coating and great horseradish heavy cocktail sauce. I had fried oyster tacos and they were warm and delicious. The tacos come 3 to a plate with no sides. My wife had the spicy chicken sandwich which is now fried rather than grilled and comes with fries. It was a good meal and inexpensive for Rehoboth Beach. Not as busy as usual because it was late in the Season. They close after the last weekend in September. read more

My family and I love this place! It's always our go to when we don't know where to eat! I usually get their cheeseburger and it's sooo good! They use sweet brioche and their bacon is really good on it, but you can also skip the bacon. The fries are some of the best I've had and are nice and crunchy yet soft on the inside! Plus, As a picky eater they are really accommodating when it comes to adjustments for entree orders so I appreciate that. The waiters and waitresses are also very nice and the service is usually pretty good and fast. They have a nice selection of food items and their pricing is reasonable and relatively affordable! I love this place and that it's close to the water and boardwalk! It has cute and pretty beach hut vibes but it's still good for a casual evening dinner! Great for what it is... a beach bar. The servers are friendly, the menu is very beachy and the location is spot on. If I was rating it as a restaurant, it would be a 2.5. The food was ok . I had half a crab grilled cheese and half a shrimp salad sandwich and both were just ok. The portions were small and the prices were high. The service here is horrible. The boardwalk Obies Carry Out got my order incorrect. I asked for a Caesar salad with shrimp. The employee who took my order told me I had the option of adding regular shrimp OR popcorn shrimp (fried). I asked for Regular shrimp. When I went back to ask for a corrected order, the To-Go bar was closed. So I asked the staff at the outdoor and inside bar for assistance. First, I was ignored for about 5 minutes, before I had to ask for assistance. The female employee was rude and standoffish. And then the older male at the inside bar was not helpful, very snarky, and a testy tone. He did not treat me as a paying customer who needed an order fixed. His demeanor was short and standoffish as well. It would have been great if he was apologetic about the servers wrongdoing. Images of my receipt and what I was given are included shows proof I was given the wrong order. I hope this establishment gets better in treating customers with helpful and friendly service. When you spend your money, it is mandatory to receive appropriate service. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant. They need to 100% improve their customer service. read more

I give Obie's a 4.0/5 stars Definitely a cool spot to check out on the rehoboth boardwalk. They don't have any reservations so make sure to get there at a good time or be ready to wait a bit. They have a good drink menu with a lot of options. I got the voodoo punch and it was really good. Starting at $10 for any mixed drink or well drinks. It was loud in there during the busy time but not too bad. The food was good. Great portions on the salad and a large size of fries with all the sandwiches. I got the hotdog with mango chutney and cheese and it was awesome. All in all a great little spot on the boardwalk and you can't beat the views read more

My husband and I went right at noon on a Wednesday. We were seated at a table (indoor) right by the open window with an ocean view. I had the fried fish sandwich and my husband had the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon. Fish sandwich was fried perfectly - I don't know what they do to that batter, but it was THE CRISPIEST piece of fried fish I've ever had. Delicious. They overdo it on the amount of fries in my opinion, but I digress, those were good too. Tartar sauce was homemade and yummy. Both sandwiches were served on brioche buns. We've loved Obie's for years. YEARS. That's why this week has been so disappointing. This has been a rough week it seems. Good for a quick drink these days. While I would have previously recommended food, def not after this week. I'll keep it simple. We were served burned and raw food (raw shrimp, undercooked crab cake, burned crab balls) after our order was forgotten about and rushed out. Waitress took off the raw shrimp and a beer and apologized profusely for the kitchen, which we appreciated. That said, raw food is raw food. Our shrimp were RAW. The inside is disgusting (especially the bathrooms, which are on top of the kitchen). The women's toilets were all clogged and the floor was soaked into the hallway which again, is right off the kitchen. A server also used the bathroom while I was in there and didn't wash her hands... really?? Trying to give all places the benefit of the doubt because COVID sucks and I know places are short staffed. Hoping Obie's makes a return and improves next year . read more

I love an ocean front view right on the boardwalk and Obie's had just that. But thats the best thing about the place. I had the lobster roll. it was very chopped up and more like lobster salad with not very large chunks, it was supposed to come with fries and a pickle but there was no pickle. I also ordered a Hawaiian Daiquiri, but it was just puree and it was terrible. For $12 not worth any penny. However, the deviled eggs were AMAZING. Very flavorful and had old bay on top. Definitely recommend that as an appetizer. The atmosphere was kind of stale and smelled of pee and sweaty people from the beach... so I do not recommend unless you want a quick lunch and its nice to sit outside! read more
