HIRE HIM! Juan saved me thousands of dollars in a matter of minutes! Long story short, my bathroom drain was clogged with my hair. It is a recurrent issue for me. Juan ( IMO) is one of the few honest and reasonably priced plumbers out there. I've used him on three different occasions and each time he was responsive and reasonably priced. I sent out request for quotes for a few of the highly reviewed plumbers on Yelp. I also sent them pictures to give them an idea of what work needed to be done. Juan from JDR Plumbing responded right away and after looking at the pictures came in with a quote that was very reasonable compared to other quotes. I communicated with him through Yelp and made arrangements for him to arrive on Monday at 1:00 PM. He called me on Monday a little after noon confirming that he was on his way. He arrived a bit ahead of schedule which was perfect for me. He assessed the job and made quick work of cutting the copper pipe to remove the hold leaky spicket. He then soldered a female threaded connector to the end of the cut pipe so he could attached a new spicket with a male threaded connection. This will make it a DIY job in the future if I ever needed to replace that spicket again. I have pipe wrenches at home for DIY jobs, but I don't have a torch or know the first thing about removing a soldered joint nor soldering on a new piece. Visiting my 'older' ESL parents in Torrance and we found all drains were stopping up. It was 9:30pm and we needed to get this taken care of. I started yelping, and found many 1-5 stars, with mixed reviews, and I didnt want to leave my parents with more problems than they already had. Found Juan at JDR and contacted him via Yelp Quote. He replied in 10 minutes. He said he was able to come right then for $200 minimum, but we had to leave anyway and scheduled for 8am the next day. I had mentioned the main drain line in my RFQ and he came back with $89. From past experience elsewhere, I told my parents there might be some add-on so don't be surprised. Messaging was smooth and respectful, and I left feeling good. Next morning, he texted his ETA within his window, cleared the drain, and called me letting me know the results - all for $89 as quoted. I asked him about other possible issues and he tested the water pressure and said it was way too high, and we will be scheduling that fix later. Juan has helped me twice now. Earlier this year, he replaced my kitchen garbage disposal and it's been perfect ever since. Most recently, I contacted him late night for a leaking bathroom sink, and he came the next day. His prices are reasonable, he's very professional and informative too. Our garbage disposal was clogged for about a week. I did everything I could think of to fix it, finally had to call someone. Juan responded on yelp with the quickness, and was here right on time the next day. Even called before he came and put hospital type things on his boots so he wouldn't meup the floor which he did not have to do but I appreciate the effort of it. He tried a number of techniques to unclog the disposal however we also had a leak as this disposal was old and done He was able to quote us a fair price for a new one, as we as labor cost. Juan was able to leave to pick up the parts return and install and also fixed the cold water pressure in the sink, as well as the low flow pressure in the toilet in the restroom without adding to our original price. I highly recommend JDR plumbing -- their work is excellent, completed on time, and reasonably priced. I received a quote from JDR plumbing for 5 plumbing repairs I needed. This included a new garbage disposal and kitchen faucet, replacing a shut-off valve behind a toilet, the trim pieces and flex line, and the ballcock in the toilet (this was a special low-profile part). There was additional work in the shower, as well as replacing a leaking valve and gas line to my water heater. The quote was reasonable -- among the lower quotes I received.
