If you are looking for a new guitar to buy online, the first place you should checkout is Alamo…read moreMusic Center out of San Antonio, TX. Let me tell you why. There are so many things to consider when buying online. You need to know that the people you are dealing with are honest and honorable. You will not find better people than Chris McKee and Cooper Greenberg. They are the best. You also want to make sure the people that you talk to are guitar experts. Just check out Chris' and Coopers' You Tube channel, Alamo Music Center, and watch their informative and entertaining guitar review videos. You will come away impressed by their expertise and knowledge. They want to make sure you select a guitar that meets your criteria and your needs rather than just trying to sell you a guitar. You want a store that treats the customer with respect and bends over backwards to make sure a customer is satisfied. I can vouch from personal experience that they know how to treat a customer right. I have purchased guitars from some of the biggest guitar places in the US and none of them come even close to meeting all of the criteria I have listed above, except for Alamo Music Center. I have purchased my last two guitars from them and will always go to Alamo Music Center first. Check them out and maybe like me Alamo Music Center will become your favorite and go to guitar store. Pro Tip: When they have a sale pay attention and peruse the inventory for your next guitar. Their deals are fantastic! Thank you, Alamo Music Center!

We walked in expecting to see some guitars and amps, we knew they had pianos and stuff. We thought we would wonder through and say, "Been there." And have a little check mark, you know? Well walked in the front door and saw Cooper at a desk on a computer... I was gob smacked! For some reason I never really expected to see Cooper or Chris but there he was. Introduced myself and to keep from looking the complete fanboy idiot I asked bout a Yamaha Tas3. They had one, so I asked Cooper to demo the loop function (sly of me, I know) and he laid down a simple thing I had seen him play on YouTube before. Wonderful! We had a brief discussion about it and he gave me a little discount, put new 10's on it, checked it over and shipped it home to Florida for free. Great service, great local music store feel, great experience.

So we signed up for lessons at the time my husband signed up for guitar lesson as well. The instructors are amazing. When we are not able to make a class that week we contact them in advance to reschedule a make up session. Which is great because sometimes we would go camping. Lol. The staff at the music store have always been great. Very nice and informative. If something is not in stock they would look for the item from another store or they would order it for me. Also in case of emergency and lessons must be cancelled the store contacts before lessons. My son loves his music teacher and looks forward to his lessons each week. I spoke to manager about getting a refund or credit on something in the store, he said no. He offered another instructor. I told him that I'd rather just get my money back, again he said no. I paid for the month. I attended one of those lessons with this other person, she was wanting me to play a song that she picked in my book which I could not play because I had not learned the chords yet, "let's work on the chords first then I can play the song,"I said. Time ran out, it's a 30 min. lesson. I didn't attend my last lesson, just very disappointed in the quality of teachers they had. Manager calls me before my last lesson and asks me how they could improve. After I told him about what had happened, he said that he would refund my money for the last lesson. He said that he would request my money from people above him, and that he has seen them refund monies for less of a reason. I have not received any refund yet, it started off bad from the beginning with my credit card, I should have seen the early signs. Very dissatisfied.

Just yucky Travis, the technician called me to let me know he would be doing the set up and he gave me pointers on guitar strings and recommended a set of Elixers. He inquired about the way I played. Travis set up the heck outta my guitar. The intonation--- perfect. Action -- could not be better, nice and smooth. He also polished it and oiled the fretboard. On the invoice, he commented: "restrung with perfect jazz gauge finger style with a light touch, cleaned conditioned fretboard." Indeed! This is the best set up I've had and I've been playing 40+ years! Plus the overall service was excellent and at a fair price! (Totally different experience as compared to my experience with Guitar Center with my 6 string bass.). I would also they did a good job for my sax adjustments. This a really good company. Travis ia a most excellent technician. Highly recommended!

I like to bring my musical instrument repair and purchases to local businesses as often as possible…read moreso I like to frequent New Braunfels Music. First of all the employees there are super chill and friendly. I'm just starting to learn the bass guitar and they never once made me feel inferior due to my lack of experience. I have a bass guitar already and it needed a setup so I brought it into the store. $65 bucks for the setup and around $20 for new strings. Competitive pricing. The setup seemed good but then about a week after the setup my strings started buzzing. I brought it back in. The tech looked it over and knew exactly what the issue was - cold weather. The rapid weather change we had made my neck bow ever so slightly that the strings were too close to the frets. Since I had just got it worked on, it took him like a minute and he adjusted it and now the bass is rocking perfectly. I also was interested in a Blackstar amp and NB Music is a dealer. They can order equipment for the brands that they carry and the prices are as good as online or other big box music shops. I wanted a specific guitar amp and they had to check on availability as they didn't have this particular model in stock. Now this is my only complaint about the store, they never called me back. I messaged them on Facebook messenger and then they replied quickly that the amp I wanted was discontinued by the manufacturer. I like the place a lot. They carry in stock mostly the affordable models but carry some of the upper end stuff and if you want really high end, they can order it for you. I will continue to be a customer!

Only once can I think of a positive experience which was one I dropped the instrument off for repair about a week and half ago. This was the only time I was not talked down to or made to feel uncomfortable. I've played clarinet for over 20 years...I'm not dumb regarding what I need, etc Today will be my last visit to this store. In early August, we overhauled his clarinet with new pads. My son had some bent keys and things that needed to be addressed recently, but I was surprised to see one of those things was 4 new pads in less than 10 months. I mentioned it to the individual assisting me and he was like no that's normal, etc. He became very condescending towards me. From my experience, that is not normal, so I am within my right to question it. The older gentleman on the back just kind of nodded his head and didn't make any comments. As I was reviewing the receipt with the repairs and examining the instrument, he walked over to the door and stood in a semi confrontational stance and stared at me as if to hurry me up and rush me out of the store. Go to another shop that will appreciate you, your business, and not talk down to you.
